In a morbid kind of way... I'm kind of okay with this ending, I think. I know I said earlier that I wanted a happy ending and not have Solas dying and whatnot. But for some strange reason, I like the idea of him and Lavellan dying together.

I don't know. I'm weird.

Not weird. If they have to die, it would be amazing. Then they can be reincarnated and live happy ever after.

TIL Weekes could make some serious bank writing romance novels...

...And then he could water his garden for a year with the fan tears his characters have garnered :)

Are there any codex entries (or whatever) that talk about the Veil being "created", rather than assuming it was there all along?

Off the top of the my head, not that I recall.  But I think Yavana said something about the time before the veil when dragons ruled Thedas.  There's probably something in a codex or elsewhere in game dialogue though, simply because it sounds familiar, but I don't know.

*grabs him by the collar and shakes*

Why.   Wasn't.   Mordin.   Romanceable??!

*takes deep breaths*

...right.  So, about Solas.

I would have romanced Mordin. He's like ancient in Salarian years though right? Doesn't matter. Intelligence is ageless and sexy.

Re the Chant:

I definitely think everything is connected. Or it seems to be moving that way. "Everything sang the same" = Chant of Light Being Sung Everywhere = No separation from the Maker = no Veil right? Bring down the Veil 2015!! *ahem*

Also, here's some music:

Hey guys and gals did you see what the cullen thread did for page 4000 ?

http://forum.bioware...ilers/page-4000

We should do some party for page 2,000 or a small one for page 1,500 :)

Way late in response to this...but seeing all those happy girls with Cullen made me want to punch my computer screen.

Why Solas Why?!?!?!?!

That's all the action my Shepard got in ME2....**** you Kaiden.

Back to topic - have many people done playthroughs where you side with the Templar? Maybe I just wasn't paying attention in my first playthrough (since I didn't know the ending), but...

[spoilers] Right after you get to Skyhold, there's a quest line about the Venatori leader, Calpernia. And they talk a lot about how Corypheus wants to make her a vessel, at "the place where regret dwells." Or something like that.

ugh....Solas....[/spoilers]

Remove the extra S.  XD
And that's very interesting. Hmm, my next playthrough will have to choose Templars.

I'm so late to catch up to the thread but I just wanted to say I loved this! I really agree with your writing of Solas and his goals, Abelas was really cute written too

Thanks! <3

I ultimately kept flashing back to The Incredibles when I was writing the parts where Lavellan hounds Solas. He reminds me of the moral from the movie... so much. Life is happening right in front of you and you're missing it! He feels like such an idealist, but one with no concrete goals for how things should shake out other than the plan he had in his head. He's the man with the plan when it comes to getting there, but he's terrible with the necessary nitty gritty follow up and the long haul. You can't remake the world when you're busy standing apart from it. :? Best of intentions, terrible execution.

Er I don't remember any specifics, but there is some dialog from Solas where he's asking "Can you imagine what it would be like if the spriti world was the same as ours", and then there's Sandal's prophecy, that "magic will rain from the sky" and things will "be made what they once were", and then there's some other hints I think mostly dialog about how the Veil didn't use to exist, that the spirit world and Thedas were one.

Sorry, maybe there's a scholar out there who can do better. But I think the Sandal prophecy is the best clue.

I agree with you, but I wanted to check if I had missed something groundbreaking!

Yes, my hubby sided with the Templars since I sided with the Mages.

We like to do this in our BW games. He went Paragon throughout ME and I went Renegade. Plus, we get to see the different options the other picks.

Yea, I just finished that quest. It's definitely interesting to see all this other stuff in my 2nd playthrough.

It's alright.  XD  Just blame it on Mordin flustering you.  Here's some Solas

There's also a Skyhold entry mentioning how the Veil there is very old. I'll grab a screenshot if you'd like.

From a non-romance stand-point I want him so badly to be right. He's been wrong the entire time we've known him, big-picture wise xD. The path he's on now seems so contrary to everything that I think would be a reasonable, rational plan. But if they can write it so he turns out to be correct, in a way that's believable? That would be amazing. I don't want him to be the character that's always wrong :(

Think we need to be Asari

[tumblr_drama]  Relationship != sex, though.   You can have a perfectly emotionally fulfilling relationship with an asexual partner.   Really. [/tumblr_drama]

Anyway, it's not all about bumping bits for Elven Glory.  It still has its issues, particularly in terms of pacing, but I'd have rage quit if they'd released DA:I without a Solasmance route.

Awww Cullen is smart. Actually, I really want to see a chess match between Cullen and Solas. I bet that'd be intense.

I definitely don't need physical intimacy to be happy with this romance. It's actually a bit refreshing to just see emotions and the want of each other. It's very real in its own way. And very profound.

Intelligence is very sexy.
