The cinematics in DA:I are just breathtaking. Much improved from Alistair and the Warden awkwardly clipping noses against each other
Part of that, though, is because they angle the camera so we can't really see their faces. If you look closely enough, there is some clipping... but then you get Solas's back turned to the camera etc. so you can't really tell how awkward those smooches look. It was a clever move on the developers' part.

Unless there's a secret city of ancient elves somewhere, I would say that there's probably only a couple hundred ancient elves remaining. If that.

I do think you're right about that - for me, though, that was one of the things that made the romance storyline so interesting.
Usually when a character says "This won't work, I'm no good for you" it's a trope signal that really means "I have some kind of silly emotional hangup that you can totally help me get over and then we'll be happy together". But here the big twist is when you realize that it actually does mean "This won't work, I'm no good for you", because, well, he kind of did screw everything up.

I was going to play a Human female to romance Cullen but then I thought no go with a male cause you'll just be yelling "Why won't you take me Solas?!!!!!" every time you talk to him with your female human.

It's almost sad how easy it is to make Solas look terrible
That hat! That hat was the bane of my existence for a while... I kept turning helmets back on because it didn't seem right to deprive Vivienne of her badass headgear, but the Inquisitor looked so dumb in that hat I couldn't take it ;_;
I think the most unexpected thing for me was his sense of humour. I mean, pre-release all we really heard about him was that he was mad about the Fade and that he thought that morality was more complicated than good and evil. We heard all about Bull's humour and Sera's and Dorian's. Someone even asked PW on twitter whether Solas was sarcastic like Dorian was, to which he replied that he wasn't as overt about it, but he'd say something that you'd realize was an insult maybe half an hour later. So after that I was expecting him to be all polite all the time. I was not in a million years expecting him to be as snarky as he is. I think Solas gets some of the best zingers in the game, really. Especially when talking to Viv.
Hee! 100% agree. I don't get much opportunity to stick them together (3 mages is a bit much) but when I can it's delicious. They're so good at getting under each others' skin. I particularly love these:
Viv: "So! An apostate."
Solas: "That is correct, enchanter. I did not train in your Circle."
Viv: "Well, dear, I hope you can take care of yourself should we encounter anything outside your experience."
Solas: "I will try, in my own fumbling way, to learn from how you helped seal the rifts at Haven. Ah! Wait. My memory misleads me. You were not there."
Viv: "Solas, darling. If you wish instruction in proper magical attacks, do let me know."
Solas: "I will. Perhaps you could direct me to a Circle mage who does not frontload her barriers."
Solas: "Tell me, enchanter: do you even bother to explore the Fade in your dreams?"
Viv: "I prefer to explore the world I actually live in."
Solas: "A pity. You could be much more powerful if you ventured outside your narrow preconceptions."
Viv: "Ah, the temptation to leave the path. You sound like a Pride demon."

Looking for a little help. Fics, tumblr, and wiki are being kind of confusing... It wouldn't be the first time the wiki/tumblr/etc. are wrong, but anyway, here's my question:
What does "vhenan" mean? Is it JUST heart? Or can it mean "my heart" without adding the "ma" before "vhenan"?
Solas tells Lavellan "Ar lath ma, Vhenan." With ar being I, lath being love, and ma being you; adding a "heart" without "my" just loses something for me. It would make more sense if it meant "I love you, my heart," especially because after he tells you this, he calls you "vhenan," instead of "my friend" or whatever other things he calls the Inquisitor, whenever you talk to him.
I'm pretty sure it's "Ar lath, ma vhenan", and the subtitles are wrong. I say this because when Hawke falls in battle, Merrill calls him/her "ma vhenan", which means "my heart". Possibly the "you" is just taken out because that's the way their language is?
Or it may have some other meaning and he's really saying "I love my heart" meaning the mark his orb left on her hand.
