Hope is good. But I actually do see them potentially doing a "together and alive" ending. Or at least offering the possibility of one. That's probably where all my optimism is coming from. :P Immortality, on the other hand, is a bit to far-fetched to believe in.

I mean, it's not that farfetched if the elven gods were "only" immortal mages with lots of power. It's possible for Lavellan to gain immortality or something close to it, but not become an actual god.

This, especially how many times Solas goes out of his way to protest that they weren't really gods in the way we normally think of gods.

I never actually minded what happened to Thane and liked that he did die with a very sweet scene. My only problem was the execution of the Kai Leng fight as well as despite him being a companion who can always be found at the hospital, he has such limited dialogue. It'd been better if they'd given him a bit more dialogue which was storyline-locked and had him be absent from the visiting area other times due to treatment sessions.

Re:  Happy ending.

So the way I see it we need to look at the facts as we know them.  Solas is immortal, Lavellan is mortal.

Alright here are the options.

1.  Solas gives up immortality and lives happily ever after with her.  Then he dies and the world is short one Dread Wolf.  That does not seem happy.

2.  Solas does not give up immortality and lives happily ever after with her.  Then she dies and Solas spends the rest of his days walking the Fade alone and sad.  Until one day he meets someone new.

3.  Lavellan ascends to godhood (see Ghilli'nain).  I really really don't want this cliche to happen.  It just seems ... cheap.

4.  Solas teaches Lavellan how to enter Uthenera when she reaches her declining years and spends the rest of his life next to her in the Fade.

The problem with happy ending to this story is that this story is not the right shape unless something major and game changing comes along.  I would love love love to see a perfectly written happy ending, but I just don't see it coming.  Honestly that is one of the major draws of this romance for me.  It is a tragedy, a big beautiful mythos rich tragedy.  Like a damn fairytale, but closer to the original version with blood and guts and sadness.

But I can give hugs and hope ... always hope never despair.

Do we really know if Solas is immortal? And if he is, what if it is just a spell? I would assume he would know how to extend her life or just take her with him into the fade/wherever he thinks he is going.

I am having images of Solas and Lavellan combining their powers and holding hands to make something happen. Hehehe

You can ask him if immortality was a spell or magic in Haven.  He says No, it was simply an inherent part of who they were.  (paraphrasing)

So yeah, I think Solas is immortal.  I don't think he is riding a body around either.  Could be I guess, but that would make it super weird.

I honestly don't even want to think about that.  *shudder*

That doesn't rule out stasis due to uthenera, in my opinion.

I hated what happened to Thane...I never finished the game with my Shepard that romanced him. I think Lavellan and Solas deserve a happy ending too the rest got one at the end of the game, also they had someone by their side on the balcony while ours is standing there all alone at the end.  :/

Like I've mentioned before it's not over between Lavellan and Solas....not yet.  :)

And yaay I'm glad I'm not alone on wanting a happy ending.  :D

Of course not! I think all of us want a happy ending.

There is a difference between wanting and expecting, though. If we argue about pessimistic endings here, it's only because we think it's very possible not because we want that and hate happy endings. If I'm honest, I don't really trust BioWare to necessarily always give us a happy ending choice. This is not something they've always done and they've forced bittersweet endings to things in the past. And, based on what we know about Solas, his story is ripe for a bittersweet or just plain bitter ending. Keep in mind the incredibly limited scope of his romance too, not many players would really be affected. If they think the story won't work with a happy ending, they won't put it in there. That's what I've learned from my BioWare experiences thus far.

The people from Haven, before you go to Skyhold..to them the Inquisitor HAS become a god, Solas see's this and he's worried..hence weird looks. He talks about how one of your people hasn't been raised so high in ages, he's seen it happen before, and he knows how it can end...I guess, maybe... We could go back to the D&D definition of godhood, if enough people believe that you are...then you are.

I don't think he was doing the Mythal-thing either. It seems against his character, not to mention it would add some very disturbing implications to the romance among other things.

Heh, I really didn't think anything of Varric's lies- at least from the perspective of my Lavellan who's faced the ire of Cassandra as well.  She couldn't blame him.

"Cassandra's like that with everyone," indeed XD

I still love her, though.

Woah, just tried a new... uh, flirt... with Blackwall... I lol'ed pretty hard at it XD

Lavellan: You're oddly charming for a man I found wandering the forest.

Blackwall: I always thought myself more odd than charming, but I'll take a compliment from a lady.  They're hard to come by these days.

Lavellan: You can have more if you like.  I store them in my private quarters.

Blackwall: Wow, I...uh.  Well (Coughs.)  I was not expecting that.

GAH. Don't let me see these things! I'm already waffling like crazy between my Inquisitors, trying to decide who I want to romance next.

The first flirt with Cullen isn't so bad (and the goofy Inquisitor smile is pretty priceless even with Cullen's reaction), but asking about if he is chaste or not is a bit much O.o

The whole "have you taken a vow of chastity?" flirt was his second flirt, right? It did seem a little... out there to be asking him something like that so quickly. It was also funny as hell for me, though. I'm like my mom and have no problem discussing sexual stuff with relative strangers. I know it's "uncouth" but *shrug*. lol

If Solas's body is his original body, that means he's an ancient elf at the least, or what is considered a god at the most. I think it's safe to assume he's immortal (in the "as long as I'm not mortally wounded, I'll live forever" sense, like the ancient elves). He also says that that immortality the ancient elves possessed wasn't part of a spell. It's something that just was. So it doesn't sound like it's something he'd be able to easily give someone, if it can actually be given at all.

I can see a DLC in which you have to talk Solas out of his plans through either the means of violence, words or deception with an added edged in your favor if you romanced him.

A bonus would be if you end up having to work together because something went wrong with his plans yet again and you end up having party banter in which his secret is known.

That would be pretty neat actually!

So like Baldur's Gate 2? Except there becoming a god meant you had to break up with your lover. (I always thought it was funny that if you did that the game mentioned taking over the god of death's "portfolio", like the epilogue was going to talk about you redecorating Bhaal's cubicle and hunting down whichever god stole his office chair while he was dead.)

It'd also only be possible for a female elf, so I don't see that happening in a million years.

Eh, why not? Only guys that romanced Morrigan could go through the Eluvian with her. It's not as if something special just for a subset hasn't happened before. Granted that's a bit bigger than walking through a mirror, and a lot of guys romanced Morrigan, but it could happen.

Though really, if there were any sort of "give up immortality" crap going on I don't see my Lavellan agreeing to it. That would be selfish on her part to expect of him. If elves don't somehow end up immortal again, or her mark/events don't give her (or Lavellans in general) that option, she'd be just fine with sharing her life with him to its end, assuming they can get back together and have a happy resolution. The world and all that goes on in it is ultimately bigger than her wants and desires, so she'll take what she can reasonably have and let the rest be what it is.

I've thought about the body riding possibility, ala Flemeth.

It is a little... disturbing, yes.

edit: and I just realized how dirty that sounded after reading it again.  oooooops

Well, immortality isn't necessarily a good thing. Maybe he gets tired at the end and gives it up willingly.

Yes.  Exactly.  I mean that would leave me to wonder if the person we think as Solas was just a regular old elf dude or was he Fen'harel.  And ... eww no no no no no, I swear to the Creators Weeks, if you pull this **** on us ... I'll walk out.  Well after I play the game a few more times and yes, of course, I'll buy the next game and all of the DLCs, but after that I'm done.  Oh what was that another book ... well ok I guess I'll read that too ...

I'm an addict.

But seriously pls no, no Solas suit.

I wonder if the Mark can actually be removed by Solas since he'd know more about it than Corypheus since it is actually his. It would somewhat make sense to disattach it, at the very least, from the Inquisitor in the post-game to prevent any problematic issues in the games onward. Since some might still have rifts left opened, it could simply transfer back into a Foci, perhaps.

I doubt that Solas is immortal, he just have a long lifespan. Also I think, that elven gods aren't really gods, only the most powerfull nobles among acient elves. Just like in ancient history where i.e pharaoh was "god" for his ppl. Anyway, Solas joined Inquisition and he even told that he have to join becouse Cassandra/troops could kill him. So if someone is killable he/she isn't immortal right?

About his romance, well I didn't romance him and after my first pt I decided, that I will not do that before I will get the whole story. I hate cliffchangers, and I really don't want to stuck who knows how long to get proper ending. I don't know if Solas/Flemeth thing will be resolved in any DLC ( best option for me), or we will have to wait another four years to see Solas in DA4. I just hope, that his writer will not forget, that Solas was an romance option like BioWare did with Thane in ME3. I don't  care about happy ending, I just want any ending ( with really good writing and not crappy excuse for character's dead or something).

Also, we don't really know if he or Abelas is still immortal at this point.  Maybe they age normally if they don't Fadewalk.
