I think it's adorable that Solas often has a little backpack type accessory in his version of the armors. Apostate hobo fashion.

HAHAHA and I thought my crackpot theories were amusing. Interesting idea, but Bioware is not going to mess with the Maker story because they don't want to deal with the fallout from Christian players.
Really? I agree that the maker has many parallels with the Christian god, but I do not think it would have much fall out. However, I lean towards the gods having been very powerful mages or something that we do not understand...yet.

I don't remember the source, but Bioware said that they would not confirm or deny the existence of the Maker. It's clear to me that it's for political reasons.
I'm fairly certain in the Emerald Graves that it's stated somewhere that each knight had a loyal wolf companion or somesuch before they died, so that's probably why there's all the wolf statues there (I don't think Solas comments on anything there, but I bet if you asked him he'd do the same 'history is not always correct blah blah' evasively evasive talk)
I just spent like 5 minutes searching the codex for this, so if you want to know, it's #63 in Tales.
It actually does say that's the reason for all the statues in the Emerald Graves. As for the rest of the areas mentioned, could just be the devs throwing a lot of foreshadowing at us, or just that there were a limited number of statue models for them to use - the Andrastian statues do repeat a lot as well, like that one statue of Maferath that seems to be EVERYWHERE.

They want to leave the Maker ambiguous so players can decide for themselves, not because they want to declare the Maker nonexistent (or extant, either). I think in doing so they are acknowledging that real-world faith or lack thereof is a very personal thing, and it's something they don't want to tangle with. I can respect that.
I love Solas' double take during In Hushed Whispers. I only wish the PC reacted more to seeing a demon fling his dead body to the floor. Instead she seems more upset at Leliana...well, screw Leliana. LOL In my mind, that's the moment she really falls for Solas- in seeing a future where he sacrifices himself for her /for a chance at victory.

That is interesting....There is so much lore to read through, and there are so many directions they can take this. I did romance Solas, but I have to admit that I am much more interested in his story. Well Played Bioware.....well played.

Ehhhh I'm a Christian and I wouldn't be offended if they messed around with the Maker, or it turned out he didn't even exist, or something. It's a game/story after all. A very good story of course, but still just that. I don't get offended at Harry Potter or Mass Effect, so I'm not going to get offended at Dragon Age either...
I don't want this to turn into a debate about religion because that is unnecessary, but people are more than capable of drawing the distinction between fantasy and their personal real-life beliefs

I think it just makes for better stories; if they were to do some kind of Golden Compass thing where you settle the question of the Maker's existence once and for all, where do they go from there? What would be a bigger mystery for the next game? As an element of the DA game stories, the question of how much of Andraste's legend is true is more interesting unsolved, since it's the basis for a lot of conflict and intrigue in Thedosian history.
I want a cookie for every theory of mine that turns out to be true.
I'll take a kiss from Solas instead. ![]()
I just did Champions of the Just, and that screenshot I took of Solas is after her encounter with Envy. I like to think it's concern on his face after what she went through. My Lavellan was pretty shaken up by it all, at least in my headcanon.
The game is trolling you, so when you replay it you're like... "Oh..."
It just seems so excessive! There are golden wolf statues in the inner halls. There are even some in the crypt area if you chase after Calpernia/Samson - which is an area with no other statues (that I have noticed).
There are quite literally more wolves than dragons in here. It can't all be devs giggling at us, and while I agree that some of the wolves out in the Dales are probably because of Emerald Knight wolf companions, I can't see them putting statues up for that reason in the middle of the Temple of Mythal.

Well, there's the Andrastean Maker (crafted by in-game characters), the theoretical Maker (who crafted the world of Thedas in-game), and the true Maker. The first is a twisted amalgam of the actions of spirit-elves. I believe the second is the one whose nature Bioware plans to leave ambiguous. And the third...

"Cass, the Maker's True Name is David Gaider. And He is a cruel and vengeful God."
This is heresy he is an apostate. Templars to me we must destroy him and not allow this to continue.
I'll take a kiss from Solas instead.
OMG, I would like that too! But how is that possible lolz.

Hahaha I reckon they didn't have enough time/resources to create more statue models so they told themselves 'Oh, we will re-use the same wolf statues because it will be poignant and relevant to the storyline! *cough* Yes, that is why we are doing it. *shifty eyes*'
It does make it really fun to replay the game though and find all the little hints that you missed the first time ![]()

Indeed the only thing we know with certainty is true.

Yes, a lot of people won't get offended, but I'm sure a lot would if they declare that the Maker is just a mage or something. The Maker story has more direct parallels to Christianity than Harry Potter or Mass Effect so it's more likely that it would offend people.
So a question on interactive banters. Did anyone get the one where Solas questions Lavellan about being Dalish? Supposedly there's one where Varric asks about your accent too...? I just ran through the beginning of the game again and nothing fired. Maybe I should just leave them standing around in game and watch TV to see if it times up at some point. ![]()

There's a part in the prologue where you can wander away from the path (up hill towards the west of the frozen lake IIRC) shortly after you recruit Solas and Varric. Solas will bring up your Dalish heritage there.

I got one where Solas talks about meeting the Dalish, and Quizzie can say something like "they're your people too" and he says "they did not feel that way" (paraphrasing). Happened when I was walking uphill before meeting Leliana & angry priest guy.
nothing on the accent though.
