I've been following this thread for a few weeks now and finally decided to delurk.  I just wanted to say that I really enjoy the comraderie and lack of drama in here.  Also, I can't believe this game made me write poetry and fanfiction.  I pick all the worst romances in Bioware's games.  By 'worst' I really mean best.  I picked Kaiden in Mass Effect ffs.  My character just gets her heart broken every game

Solace for a Guilty Heart

No direction came to mind,

I traveled listless in the fade.

Wishing to leave it all behind,

So many mistakes that I have made.

 

I walked along a river,

Loneliness my only friend.

Life's resolve began to quiver,

And I wanted it to end.

 

But I noticed a rare flower,

That bloomed every hundred years.

Precisely on the hour,

I was quickly brought to tears.

 

Our paths had somehow crossed,

As if it was meant to be.

My love no longer lost,

The one who saved my heart was she.

 

Solas a symbol of my mistake,

Another word for foolish pride,

And though our hearts now break,

I pine to have her by my side.

 

Once again along the water,

She cannot join me in my fight,

I sacrificed two hearts for slaughter.

Because I need to do what's right.

 

If I survive this heavy weight,

Will she give me one last chance?

For when I change the world's fate,

I shall save her my last dance.

He flirts with Lavellan just as much as she flirts with him haha. He's so forward talking about wanting to see her dominated. In the rogue version, I think he said something like how her gracefulness is not up for debate. Sweet talker.

I wondering about Mythal and Flemeths betrayals as well!  I wonder if they are parallels in some way.

 

Speaking of parallels... though I'm not convinced of any of my crackpot theories, there's something pleasingly cyclical in the idea that the final scene of DA:I might be the third time Mythal has sacrificed her life for her People.  

 

Once as Mythal to seal Arlathan, once as Andraste for their freedom and a homeland, and now once again for purposes unknown.

 

Interesting.  Probably wrong.  But interesting.

So after the ToM you can have a conversation with Solus and he will ask you what you plan to do with the power of Mythal. You can respond with pretty much sharing your power with your friends, but Solus tells you it is good in theory and one person might can walk away from power, but a group never has. IF you tell him you trust your friends he will say that he knows that mistake well enough that he can carve HER face from memory....So maybe Solas and Mythal were conspirator together and were betrayed by the same person and that is why she consented to helping Solas. O.o

In all the fics I've seen, Haven't seen one that actually has him commenting about it before.  Am I just missing those?

Felassan is working for and knows an awful lot of stories about the Dread Wolf, and this part made me sad because I think Fen'harel betrayed his fellow 'gods' trying to help the lesser elves and now the modern elves don't even remember his sacrifice and just think of him as a terrible creature.[/spoiler]

Honestly, I have my share of fan tears to offer at the Shrine of Weekes, but only about 5% of them are for Lavellan.  She was abandoned by someone she loved.  It sucks and it hurts, but at the end of the day, things like that happen.  It's pain on a mortal scale.

 

All the rest belong to the goddamn wolf who wanted to fix the world.

What I don't get about this game is that Abelas and Solas' models are so sexy, but the player's male elves look really weird. I don't get it.

Maybe they have more sexy build for being ancient elves? (Not that my M!Elf isn't sexy, cause he is, I've oogled him I won't lie.)

 

 

Or less exciting and panty dropping.  It's an issue with the ability to change the shape that caused problems with the model.

Oh god, I forgot just how...soft his voice gets when he says the flirt lines. The way he says "I have yet to see it dominated" made me go red when I first heard it.

No kidding. I mean, my Lavellan has it rough being the Herald of Andraste and having everyone putting a lot of pressure on her, but at least she's got friends. She can go to the bar and shoot the sh*t with Varric and Bull if she wants. Or go shoe-shopping with Leli and Josephine. Or eat cookies on the roof with Sera. Solas doesn't have anybody. And he believes that's how it's going to be for the rest of his life. Even though his greatest fear is dying alone. Aaaargh, dammit, Solas.

So when Solas takes away the Vallaslin Solas says "Ar  Lasa Mala Revas. You are free." I was wondering what he had said in Elven and went off to look up . The best I could some up with was The Ar= I, Lasa=(?), Mala=(?), Revas=Freedom.

 

So maybe "I grant you freedom."

I know I probably murdered this translation, but if anyone else has a better one then please let me know!

Considering how old Solas is, it'd be more surprising if he didn't have a past lover at all.  That said, making her someone who's still around and thus "tricking" us into being "the other woman" would be a downright dirty move.  So, I too hope that is not the case.I hope they were more friends, or mother/son, than lovers.

 

I just fear that they were in fact lovers, and if so, then no matter how Solas feels about Lavellan, Mythal will always be first in his heart.

 

 

Oh god, if that happened, I would be absolutely devastated. D:

 

To be honest, when I first saw the epilogue I never saw them as lovers, though I'm sure he's had a few back in the day (how could he not with his flirting and that charm of his?).

LAVELLAN: So you're suggesting I'm graceful?
