See, thats what I'm thinking, especially since the comment was 'At least 1, that I know of' about outside romances. If they counted towards the number 8, surely he would know exactly how many there were?

 

Edit: I wonder if it might be more like Kelly's romance in ME2? in that it was almost a fully fledged romance, but didnt count officially.

Alright, so... I just got up from my nap and got caught up, so.... romance! Uggghhh... Why can't we just know already!!!?  Also, race-gated romances... my speculation? The Bull, and Dagna (or some mystery female dwarf if not her).  Because it would seriously suck if both race-gated LIs were male.

 

Also, did anyone else notice that Josephine has the most beautiful eyes?  And I'm not just saying that because she has the same eye color as me   It's the first shot of any character where we could actually see the texture close up, and it's just gorgeous.

w-what? A romance outside of companions and advisors? That seems.. weird. But my guess is a non-human female LI. Probably Dagna. She's gonna be like someone who helps us with her new inventions or something.

Like I said, the advisors I can live with because they really seem to be somewhat included
But anything else, just no...
I definitely prefer a smaller but more fleshed out number of LI's if this is how it's gonna be

Hm, that's a great thought. It would make sense that he would know then, so maybe those kind of romances are less fleshed out than the companion/advisor ones? since I imagine that you won't come across those people as much, or you should invite them to your keep and let them stay there of course, or they are just part of the inquisition and stay in the keep permanently like the advisors? I'd be even more happy if there were 8 romances inside the companion/advisor group though and not counting those outside

Well atleast they confirmed now that they aren't going to answer if Solas is a romance this day at raptr, but they did say that there is one romance (at least one that Cameron or Mark knew of) outside the companions or the advisors, interesting... That makes me inclined to think that there are more than 6 romance options..

Ever since they announce the race gating on some relationships and the post that Allen made about the resource costs involved with writing and cinematic efforts, I have thought that there would be 6-8 main romances but then a smattering of side/surprise romances. For example, Varric/Dagna could be flirtations for dwarves, An unknown to us female qunari that has be rumored could also be a possibility.  Yet, I could also see Varric in the same situation as Avaliene in DA2 as you resolve the Bianca situation but that may not have a happy ending either depending on our choices.Or perhaps Iron Bull is for qunari characters only or rather because of the Qun, Qunari players will have the option to convert which is the only way to get him to stay. (Sort of like human noble/Alistair vs. everyone else if you make him king) 

 

It is sort of like a combination of potential storytelling impact on the game combined with math equations.  

 

Romance 1 will be all races and genders. Cost is 8 zots

Romance 2, 3, and 4 will be gender gated. Cost is 4 zots a piece. (less if race gated) 

Romance 5 will be possible for either gender but only Qunari. Cost is 2 zots

Varric could only be only 1 zot or nothing. Solas could also be either 8 zots or 2 depending on the allocation. Dagna could be another 1 or 2 zots. 

And so on. We are just guessing and it won't surprise me if we have flirt options outside companions or advisers. 

 

The questions is we don't know how many zots they have in total and how they choose to spend them. So even if Iron Bull is said to be Bi, it will not mean that Solas is out necessarily. So until they say 'No, he isn't romance-able", I will still hope he is. I just don't think they are going for a neat and fair 2/2/2 that many are convinced is the case. 

 

Edit -And so they confirm 8 romances and 2 race gated as I wrote this, so there you go!

HMm, don't get me wrong, Matt Ryan's voice is gorgeous (mmmm  ) but I don't think it would fit Solas...

LITTLE OFF-TOPIC: Awe .. Zevran isn't making a cameo in DA:I. I romanced him with my dalish elf warden so I was hoping to see him.. ;c

 

Back to topic: We need dat Solas(s)... Seriously . I think you guys know how my reaction will be, we will probably all do the same (JUMPING OF JOY following trying to really fast go in to the forum and spread the joy, but you're not able to write words because of your excitement and have to try to calm down but you know you just can't) We've all been there admit it xD

My personal guess to the new news:

Cassandra: Straight (confirmed)
Josephine: Bi (confirmed)
Sera: Lesbian (confirmed)
Dagna: Bi (but race gated to dwarves, maybe just dwarves/humans/elves but NOT qunari)

Cullen: Straight (confirmed)
Dorian: Gay (confirmed)
Iron Bull: Bi (but race gated to humans/qunari, maybe elves but not dwarves)
Solas or Blackwall: Bi

I know they say because of "story reasons" but I feel like it's probably more of an issue for character animations.

 

Also I'm not really worried about stretching the "content" too thin for romances, because the romances would be really spread out per writer. Remember that Gaider wrote 3 romances in DA:O (Zev, Morrigan and Alistair) and they were all pretty great. Add that into the fact that they delayed the game for over a year, and yeah, I'm optimistic.

urgh...really, but had they at least look how it was the original character? It was....terrible!!!

Some think the non-companion/advisor romance will be Dagna, the female dwarf, since she is confirmed to be in Inquisition.

AAAH, I don't want to feel this way but I'm leaning towards that  after they said eight romances and one that is not a companion, nor advisor .. 

So we might not get that magic carpet ride in the fade
