So I finally completed my Lavellan's romance arc with Solas. All that's left is to kill Corypheus. Even though I knew what was coming and had already watched all the videos several times, that didn't stop me from ugly crying when I had the final romance scene. Goddamn it. That moment when he pulls back from the kiss, the love in his eyes that shifts in a split second to utter despair, GOD. I bawled.
I opted to remove the vallaslin, and chose the sad puppy options just so I could hear him say "Please, Vhenan!" So worth it. So many tears.

Now my desktop wallpaper is a gorgeous screenshot of him and Lavellan holding hands as they walk into the grove :3

The bummer point, however, is I CANNOT get the Solas/Cole romance banter to trigger. I've run around for hours and have heard all sorts of other banter, but not that one. I just neeeeeed it to feel complete. Argh.

I also immediately started a new Trevelyan to romance Cullen again because I need a balm to soothe my soul.

That banter triggered for me when I entered The Emerald Graves.. I'd been trying to trigger it forever too. The fact that it triggered there of all places, my favourite zone, the history...punched me in the feels.

I do however think that since we now have information our inquisitor doesn't re:Solas, she'd have to find it out really early on in any forthcoming DLC. It's one thing to hunt for spoilers online, but to actually be spoiled by the game itself? That shouldn't happen.

THAT is called dramatic irony and has been a literary device for hundreds of years.  The impact does not come from the revelation itself but rather from how the protagonaist learns of it and in the end how they deal with it.  We all knew Juliet wasn't actually dead in Romeo and Juliet.  Romeo didn't.  That's why their death was more tragic.

I ran around in the Emerald Graves for like 3 hours last night, too :( And Hissing Wastes, and Exalted Plains, and Emprise du Lion. Gah!

Emerald Graves is my favourite, too. I could spend an entire game just in that setting.

I headcanon that Atisha spends her time there alone post campaign, she's a proper tree hugger.

!!!

In his next tweet, PW said you get friendly wolves if you equip the necklace you got from beating the demon controlling the wolves in the hinterlands!

I really hope I didn't sell that...

I knew I wasn't imagining that!   Those wolves pitched in with the infamous waterfall rift near the farm, lent a hand with bunch of bandits, and basically just came up to the party and chilled for a bit every time we crossed paths with some.

I'd assumed it was a wink-wink-nudge about Solas' nature once you removed the "competing" demon taint from them, but I suppose the necklace makes sense as well.  Really nice, subtle game effect either way.

Is that the "Packmaster" necklace?  I always put that on Solas.

I'm shocked they didn't make that Solas restricted, seeing that they put all these hints everywhere else! If they had, I still wouldn't have picked it up!  :D

Great first he gives his

Spoiler
Now we find out he gives his necklace to a demon.

Are we absolutely sure he isn't trying to kill everyone?

No.

I PM'd Allan about it and it is definitely bugged and not firing for anybody. It will hopefully be fixed in the next patch. Hopefully.

Thanks for the update on this! My Lavellan is sitting pre-Temple of Mythal at level 21 just waitin for Solas.

I went from Solas to Blackwall. From the frying pan into the pits of hell.

But I, too, have never gotten the Cole/Solas romance banter to trigger, ever. In fact the only one who's said anything about the romance at all is Sera's "you're in it" comment. Oh, and the dwarf bartender giving his "sleeping with your allies" comment. I guess it's fitting since they probably aren't big on PDA, but the romance itself is so sad that it needs a little bit of levity.

It sometimes only triggers if you pass ALL banter checkpoints. forget to explore an area and you might not get it. there is a few demons who have eaten some templars at a small camp. that usually triggers it for me

Banter checkpoints? I thought the devs said banter was RNG?
But belive me, I was everywhere. That is not the reason I never had a single interactive banter...

I hoped a new playthrough would help with the bug, but from what ive heard (or rather not heard) it doesnt seem so.

Ah ja, I'll still play and drool at Solas. :-/

I have now started to write a Lavellan/Solas fic for the entire storyline of DA:I (and maybe beyond), including all sorts of foreshadowing. Because I have not yet enough tragedy in my life with another playthrough, apparently. (It's fun to write though) (even though I don't know why I'm doing this to myself)

I agree he could go into Slytherin, but he could fit in Ravenclaw as well. I think he would ask the sorting hat for Ravenclaw, because that would let him stay more... under the radar. He seems to like being underestimated.

I for sure thought I was going to put him in Ravenclaw, but after playing the game? I’m super inclined to Slytherin (also, the picture of a FIGHT THE POWER slytherin is just the best). I think Solas does like knowledge for knowledge’s sake, and yet… he’s a super goal-driven individual, whose tactics really coincide with the Slytherin house (cunning, manipulation, etc). I don’t see him as the absent minded professor type anymore, and there are a lot of conversations he has with others that seem to support this. His conversation with Sera where he’s just so confused about there not being a masterplan to her organization comes to mind.

He smiles too much to be in Slytherin :P

But I guess he could be in either...for different reasons...

I'd stick him in Slytherin. I am biased though, Because I'm also in Slytherin and he should be with me.

I took that damn Pottermore test TWICE. At first I was pissed to get Slytherin, so I made an entirely new account, took the test AGAIN, and still got Slytherin. I have since embraced it. I look really good in green.

This makes me an undisputed Slytherin expert, and I think that or favorite bald elf's ego is the reason he should stay with us. Slytherins are preoccupied with our delusions of grandeur, to bend the world to our image. Knowledge is a means to an end. Trust us, we know what is good for you.

P.S. We smile all the time. :kissing:  ;)

True, yes, but we also weren't controlling Romeo and making decisions on his behalf. It's the interactivity bit that messes things up. I feel I shouldn't have information my inquisitor doesn't from the get-go, because it'll influence my/her decisions.

I honestly wish I could wipe my memory after beating a game, because it's never as good the second time around.

It triggered right away for me. It was like...the only banter to trigger in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe because I've kept Cole/Solas in my party almost the entire game so they didn't have anything else to talk about xD

Gryffindor! I mean, I'm in Ravenclaw according to Pottermore, but I think Solas' rebellious streak and drive to liberate the oppressed would bar him from Slytherin and push him to the HP house. He's not personally ambitious (anymore). Actually he reminds me of Hermione helping the house elves even though they're happy the way things are (brings back memories of HP racism critique oh joy of joys)

Agreed. And a lot of players self-insert into games, so it's a bit weird if you're trying to do that to any extent and your PC has a gaping hole in what they could possibly know. Hence why even a Dalish elf somehow can read and ask about Varric's books fairly early on in the game.

But..I wouldn't mind as long as we're moving in the direction of learning. Maybe the huge reveal doesn't have to happen in the first 10 minutes, but I want to feel like Lavellan is getting close to finding out at a fairly rapid pace.

So, who in here agrees with me that Solas would be sorted into Slytherin?

(And I would have whole-hearted put him in Ravenclaw before the game came out, ha.)

Gryffindor, just like Harry. A Slytherin like candidate that is always trying to fix things and help people, loves heroes and loves being heroic.

Solas is hard to place because he has traits from so many of the houses. Current!Solas is more Gryffindor than Slytherin, I think.

Cole is easy to place at least. In Hufflepuff. With me.

Can we get DLC to find him?

We're all hoping.
