I think it'd make the most sense to just remove that particular slider; of course we don't know how easy/hard that would be to implement so who knows?
Or just not have any NPC reactions at all in future DLC and let you change it however you want, although that would be a little disappointing.
It would be kinda funny though if you removed the vallaslin and then put it back on with a Mirror of Transformation thing, and Solas shows up again and stares at you like, "Lavellan what... after all that conversation we had..."

Lavellan: Yes, well, I put it back because... screw you, Solas!!!
Fiona is Alistair's mom? Her dialog if you recruit her hinted at it... or did I not get that? What's the deal?
This is the story
Spoiler
Yes, King Marric and Grand Enchanter/Warden Mage Fiona had an affair when they were dealing with the Architect during the novel "The Calling" it resulted in Alistair being sent to live with Eamon (shitty choice Marric.. sending your lovers child to live with your wife's brother.. ) and Fiona ultimately ended up leaving the Wardens because she was no longer tainted

I guess you could always have gone back to your buddies in the Exalted Plains and been all "Hey guys, this is going to sound weird but I need you to put my face back on pls"

Hahaha or perhaps: "Hey guys, this is going to sound weird but I kinda spent the last couple of months making out with the Dread Wolf and then he took away my vallaslin and dumped me and that made me sad so can you give me my vallaslin back, please?" xD
I almost want to use the mirror thing to put my Lavellan's vallaslin back on just for the sake of irony in future content!

Cue oddly logical universe friendly excuse that Lavellan snuck away to the Free Marches back to her clan and got re-inked.
"Though if you can do that whenever, that's great. I was thinking, I've always had to dress to go with the vallaslin so if next time I feel like wearing something colorful you could just wipe this all off that would be absolutely splendid."
Maybe it says something about me, but if given the choice, I would much rather see my Lavellan die/sacrifice herself than Solas. It would absolutely kill Solas if she died (especially if it was from something that was his fault), but I'm just selfish. I'd rather her die than him.
I did the same thing with the Alistair romance when I decided to do the Ultimate Sacrifice- I downloaded a mod that allowed her to knock him out and take the kill so she'd die instead.
I did the US on my first Alistair romanced warden out of spite lol. "Teach you to break up with me you shem bastard!" Left him at the gate. I would totally do the same thing with my Solas romancing Lavellan.
As usual, this thread moves so fast I have to catch up again. (Why do all the interesting conversations happen while I'm asleep?)
Help me name my Lavellan.
I think I"m going to work on her CC tonight and she's got to be perfect, but naming is the hardest. Do you guys just come up with names out of thin air or do you use a generator or website?
I usually go to elf name generators or baby name sites. Or I take names from mythology. Or hell, I sometimes name them after characters I like.
My Dalish warden is named Arnwen after Arwen from LOTR ("Arnwen" apparently means "royal lady" according to one elf name generator site,) while my elf mage warden is named Shanoa after the main protagonist in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.
Or sometimes I check out names from my own culture or mythology. For example my Lavellan, Tala, was named after the Philippine goddess of the morning star, with Tala also meaning "bright star".
They've mentioned they're looking into an Emporium and/or face codes (a la Mass Effect). One of the reasons I haven't done my canon Lavellan (in addition to not having a patch on the XB1!!!!) is because I can't get the face right and I'm hoping they'll release an editor as DLC soonish. It'll probably be in January though given the holidays.
I seriously can't wait for an Emporium style face editor thing. I mean, I'm happy with how Tala looks but in certain lightings, her cheeks seem to turn quite dark, which annoys me (I guess I shouldn't have given her that blush in hindsight.)
Pfft, I think the shaved sides haircut makes my Lavellan look like a BAMF
Can I just say that your Lavellan is just absolutely badass beautiful?!
Ooh, pretty. For some reason she reminds me a bit of Velanna from Awakening. Except, you know, not all scary-looking.
Hahaha, thanks. I think it's the hair. Oh, Velanna. She was so angry.
My Inquisitor turned out really...nice. Well, nice to her companions anyways. I was initially going to play her really frosty and Dalish, but I just couldn't do it when she makes expressions like this.
Spoiler
Oh, here's her being kinda frosty.
Spoiler
Also she had an almost-perpetual worried look during the initial part of the mage quest. Which fit perfectly, because Fiona whyyyy.
Spoiler
Oh, and this is where you can see her heart break into itty bitty pieces (and no, I'm not talking about the vallaslin scene)
Spoiler
Soon as I got back to Haven I rushed over to his spot to talk to him.

Damn she's gorgeous! I see why Solas fell for her!
I really, really need a solid map of what the new Dalish tattoos are because I think my girl has Mythal's (and I can't bring myself to do the final mission, so Solas is forever trapped in vapor lock. ) But, I'm not sure.

ur inquisitor is really pretty. wish they have the option when u can send ur Characters to other so they can download it and use it.

I agree 100%. I think it'd be less soul-shattering to me in a way, because I'd also prefer that in real life. I would want to die before my soul mate, I don't think I'd be able to take it.
Soon as I got back to Haven I rushed over to his spot to talk to him.
I am so, so glad I did Therinfall Redoubt with my Lavellan. I think both quests have the potential to really trigger a Heroic BSOD. The Envy demon in Therinfall messed with her head quite a bit, but she got better from that.
But seeing lyrium-corrupted Solas die for her? When she was already starting to fall in love with him? Oh god, she would have been an absolute wreck.
Full villain I would still have some hope for redemption and a happy ending.
Redeemable villain would be interesting, I think. On the one hand, it might be cool to think that all the Dread Wolf stories are total slander, but it might also be interesting if they are based in a lot of truth. That maybe he and the other gods screwed up big time and they are trying to fix it. And maybe to find out that their version of a "better world" could actually be bad for a lot of people.
darn.. reading all these i should have romanced Solas instead for my Lavellan... i decided to go ahead with Cullen and it was sweet but cliche. and i don't think i will play another female elf again... ooh shucks!
Damn she's gorgeous! I see why Solas fell for her!

That's a tree? That's Mythal right?
Mythal's are the ones like the vallaslin Abelas has, so my guess is nope.
Pretty much. Uthenera would be my Lavellan's only option.
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Yes! Every time this song comes on in the car I get more than a little sad, but it's also comforting because I hate the thought of Solas being alone.
I'm not sure if anyone's brought this up but Take Me To Church by Hozier has kind of been the theme song for my desperate Lavellan.
Edit: Sorry if this song bothers anyone, it just felt appropriate for the clash of Dalish and Chantry beliefs >.<

Lyrics
My lover's got humour She's the giggle at a funeral
Knows everybody's disapproval
I should've worshipped her sooner If the Heavens ever did speak
She is the last true mouthpiece
Every Sunday's getting more bleak A fresh poison each week 'We were born sick,' you heard them say it My church offers no absolution She tells me 'worship in the bedroom' The only heaven I'll be sent to
Is when I'm alone with you I was born sick, but I love it
Command me to be well
Amen. Amen. Amen
Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life
If I'm a pagan of the good times
My lover's the sunlight
To keep the Goddess on my side
She demands a sacrifice
To drain the whole sea Get something shiny
Something meaty for the main course That's a fine looking high horse
What you got in the stable? We've a lot of starving faithful That looks tasty
That looks plenty
This is hungry work
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
No masters or kings when the ritual begins There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene
Only then I am human
Only then I am clean
Amen. Amen. Amen
Take me to church
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife
Offer me that deathless death
Good God, let me give you my life
Sometimes, when I get that "who cares what you did Solas, I won't leave you alone" feeling I imagine my Lavellan puts on a mask for the Inquisition, playing along with the Herald of Andraste idea to give people hope, and the only time she can just be herself is around Solas. Though they're willing to go with the Herald angle in public the Inquisition would burn them at the stake if they knew of their secret blasphemy Everyone expects so much of her and pushes their beliefs on her, but she just wants to run away with him to learn more about the ancient ways and explore new possibilities for the future.

I don't know. Just thinking out loud.
This is what I think is going on >.< Their idea of a better world might be great for some people, but Solas has sacrificed and ruined a lot of innocent lives to achieve whatever he's going for so... that doesn't bode well. I mean, yeah, maybe the Corypheus thing didn't turn out the way he had hoped but there's no way he didn't know that people would get hurt. Though I'm really hopeful for a happy ending I get the feeling if there's a chance to be with Solas in the future it'll involve forsaking everything and everyone we know because who would approve of their friend/family/leader being with someone responsible for so much death and chaos? My Lavellan might run away in the Fade with him, but I'm not sure. Could she really look her best friends, Sera and Dorian, in the eye and say she was leaving them behind?
Mythal's are the ones like the vallaslin Abelas has, so my guess is nope.
Looking at the handy Tumblr chart, it's probably Dirthamen's then. They both have... trees. The CC really needs to come with a handy dandy notation for whose tattoos are whose and what they mean. It's a character decision choice and left as it is feels more like oooooh pretty/shiny.
Thanks guys . She hasn't started the Solas romance yet (I just left Haven- this is a new Lavellan), but I like to imagine there's already some feelings between them before she'll take the plunge and Fade-smooch him.
I'll admit, I'm really happy with how she came out. I think the haircut makes the face in this case. And I wasn't instantly drawn to this haircut, either- it grew on me

I definitely think there's some truth to it. Solas was apart of the pantheon. If he was just a humble elf practicing magic, he wouldn't have caught the eye of the people or been a point of worship. I could see the Solas of the past being something of a villain. He probably used his intelligence and magic to mess around with the people. The way he fondly talks about tricksters in mythology makes me think some part of him probably did enjoy getting the better of people.
The breaking point was that the other elven gods went so far that Fen'Harel realized he was the only sane one left. Which must have been terrifying.
Does anyone have before/after images regarding the vallaslin removal? I just did "the scene" this past weekend and I'm trying to get used to my Lavellan's brand-new face.
Just because I want to post pics of my Lavellan, here's a before and after.
Spoiler
I'm still trying to get used to seeing her barefaced.
Just saw the "You're being grim and fatalistic just to get me into bed, aren't you?"
"I AM grim and fatalistic. Getting you into bed is just an enjoyable side benefit."
I'm all like....eh...WAIT ONE FRIGGIN SECOND!!!
First time I Solamanced I didn't choose this option and I always assumed that their relationship had been much like the cutscenes, all long gazes, passionate kisses and then Solas running away when he thought it might go further. This, however, has knocked my headcanon about. Is he just joking? Has he actually been hitting that? I mean...WAAAAA????
I had a similar reaction on my first playthrough. I haven't decided on whether I want my canon to have them actually sleep together or not since I like the idea of both. (Though I may be leaning towards them actually doing the horizontal mambo because why not?)
Nicholas Cage?
...I'm sorry I'll go now.
Speaking of Nicolas Cage, people have said that Solas looks like him but I don't really see the similarities to be honest. Personally, I see Solas as a a bit of a mix between Benedict Cumberbatch with a tinge of Ralph Fiennes in some angles.

I mean, he did seem to name himself "Pride" so he knows he has some kind of problem. Like I said, I haven't finished the romance story yet, so I wonder if "pride" is something he's over or something he still suffers.
