Currently pulling an all nighter to complete all of my end of the semester work and checking in on this thread is making it easier! As is Solas' pretty face!

 

He's one of those people that some will just find ugly no matter what, because he does have that really strange look about him. But then others can look at him and find him to be absolutely gorgeous! I love the work they did on making every angle of his face look unique. I personally don't think of Benedict Cumberbatch when I look at him, like many seem to, but I think he and Mr. Cumberbatch have in common that unique, not always liked but sometimes completely loved look!

 

Also, can I just say that I super support Solas being a ginger? Like me! Good to know he's probably also part of the mega secret redhead organiza-

I read them side by side, my work space was a little cramped at times. And I wanted to discuss philosophy with Wisdom too. Now I want a DLC with a fade scene where you can't take Solas to not drink tea with Wisdom. Actually, when I look at the Wiki on elven language it really does remind me of Heidegger, as in "let's pack a lot of meaning into one word and let it explode in your head"

Solas's face is very ethereal. I like looking at it. I never found it ugly even when I was lurking when that first picture was released and everyone was like "eww bald" and stuff. I was more like "yay elf" and stuff. It looks wolfy, too, doesn't it? I think it's the narrow jaw.

 

People tell me I have questionable tastes, though. Been that way since my childhood cartoon crushes.

High five! Working on the last paper of the semester right now. Incidentally, it's on Foucault and disciplinary power.    I wish I could write it with examples from Dragon Age. The Circle would be absolutely perfect. Dammit, now I want to do a Foucauldian analysis of the Circle of Magi as an institution. Mages and subject formation... *sighs wistfully*

I know what you mean. I don't think he resembles Benedict Cumberbatch very much either (other than the long face, I guess), but they both look very distinctive.

 

And I think his face is beautiful. Especially for how mobile it is. He has the most expressive face I've ever seen in a video game. Those smiles. I don't usually gush over the appearance of video game characters. I mean, my favourite Bioware guy is Garrus. Appearance isn't usually a big factor for me. But Solas is just so...attractive for some reason. I think it's largely to do with body language as well. He has a very distinctive way of carrying himself.

It may come as not very respectful, but anyway: I've read Patrick Weekes' great posts on Twitter, and it seems like his whole awesome family is enjoying Dragon Age: Inquisition now. His wife and sons are meeting Cassandra, Iron Bull, helping the coughing lady take the potion and so on.

 

So. I'm hoping that one of these days, his wife would play and enjoy Solas' romance - how could she not, when it's so wonderful? And then... and then... and then, I think, we'll get the most powerful ally ever. Because all those fan tears, all those "How could you? Where is Solas? I want more!" would mean much more when they're coming from your own household.

 

 

(Off: I've seen so many beautiful Lavellans here, I'm in awe. But I fell in love with face number 5(the last one) in the character creator, and I just keep using it. Can't imagine my Inquisitor looking any different now).

On a related note, I am confused about where do most companions and advisors sleep? Sera has her bunk in the tavern, Cullen I think has bed above his office in the tower, Cass probably in the armory building, Blackwall in the stables and Cole... doesn't sleep? What about Varric, Dorian, Vivienne, Bull, Leliana and Josephine?

Doesn't Vivienne have a bed-couch-thing up in her loft? I guess maybe some other companions could be sleeping in those tents outside, but I suspect at least Dorian wouldn't put up with that

I said this a while back in the thread, even when I was questioning Solas' seemingly changed look from the very first screenshot we got of him: Solas could look like the biggest toad on earth and I'd still find him attractive because of that intelligence. What can I say? Brains trump beauty every time! 

 

I don't at all find Solas to be the sexiest video game guy by appearance alone (though combined with his great animation, body language and voice it all really works) but something about him is pretty irresistible. Maybe it's just my strong urge to give him a hug. I don't think he's been hugged that much in his life and he seems like he really needs it during DAI!

I want to know why anyone has to resort to sleeping in a tavern or a barn or a couch thingy above the throne room when they live in a castle. Does Blackwall feel unworthy of the castle? Does Sera think the castle is too noble-y? Does Vivienne enjoy the thought that she gets her beauty sleep above a throne? Does Solas sleep sitting in Lotus?

I am probably late, but my elf is called Ivy, it's a name that really reflects here personality. I really wish there was a way to use the exact same character to start over with, because she is the one I used first, and I feel like it's her I want to use in a ( hopefully ) DLC. Think I might try to re-make her as close to the same as possible, and then explore everything I rushed through with my first one.

In terms of appearance alone... Hmm. I mean, conventionally attractive-wise? Cullen's the "handsome" one. But there are lots of factors to finding someone "sexy". For me, the voice is veeeery important. Not that Cullen's voice isn't sexy, but there's a certain warmth to GDL's delivery that completely puts Solas's over the top. Now I'm trying to think of other attractive video game guys. You see top ten lists of "sexiest women in video games" all the time, but none for dudes. 

 

And Solas really really needs a hug. Seriously. I would pay for "give Solas a hug" DLC.

You know what really did it for me with Solas? It was the sentence; Wake up..

 

Honestly, I find that very sexy.. Maybe i am just weird, I liked him before that, abd he did several things before that made him grow more and more on me, like the way he would talk to my inquisitor, his voice, his smart yet nerdy comments, but also the fact that you very quick got the impression that this is someone who will NOT bend, he has his own will, and knows how to defend them..

I thought it was curious that Vivienne would want to sleep somewhere with so little privacy lol, but yeah I figure that's where she sleeps. As for everyone else, there's those 3 bedrooms above the garden which I pretend other companions/advisors could use. I also think that the tower holding the Inquisitor's room is big enough to have more rooms, like leading up to the 'penthouse'. So I pretend basically there's lots of extra rooms we just can't see to accommodate everyone.

Sometimes I wonder how Cullen doesn't die of exposure, he doesn't really have a functional roof where he sleeps.   

 

As for Solas, well, my Lavellan needs some company in that huge bedchamber with the big four post Free Marches bed.  That's a lot of space for one little elf.

Hate is probably too strong a word.  He just sees them as shadows of what they once were.

I have a stupid fluffy headcanon that at first, my Lavellan wanders around and sleeps in random unoccupied couches, balconies, and ruined towers in Skyhold.  The fancy bedroom that's specifically for the Inquisitor makes her feel out-of-place and antsy.  She could handle the cottages in Haven, but a castle is very different.

 

Sometimes she's impossible to find.  Then Solas is the one who has to track her down in a dream and tell her she's overslept a war table meeting.  Eventually he talks her into using her own damn room most of the time, but she adds the condition that he has to be there
