Case in point:

GARRUS

High five!!

See...it kind of irks me that they just didn't give you the option to flirt with him here. Unless there was already a flirt option earlier in the game that he shut you down after (in which case ignore my rant). But you should totally be able to hit on him all you want, and just not have him respond to your advances - just have him give you disapproval if you do it too much.

It is weird. For example, I can flirt with Cassandra knowing that she will reject my advances due to her preferences. But the option isn't present toward Solas - suggesting that it is my Quiz who doesn't see it as an option. What an uncooperative protagonist!

Agree. Solas is extremely aesthetically pleasing. I'm more into tall, thin, and weird looking than I am into that other stuff.

Case in point:

Actually, I choose to pursue Garrus as well, he is smexy.

Thing is, when a character looks a lot like human I tend to use my preferences from real life XD

Solas did the impossible!

Well, not really. Maybe I like the way he looks because I REALLY like his personality.

I romanced Garrus, so physical appearance of LI is just...not really a thing for me any more.  It's a nice bonus, but now it's really the voice that does me in.  Given a sexy voice and an intriguing personality, I'll like just about any LI.  And Solas had both, and my poor Lavellan and I were totally doomed.

It is 100% the voice for me too. The voice is why I loved Alistair, but then made the switch to Zevran. (HNNNNGH)

It's also why I accidentally had a shower scene with Traynor in ME3.

But the rest of the Bioware men: Fenris, Garrus, Solas... I just want to close my eyes and hear them talk. Ooo I wonder if any of them do audiobooks!!!!!!!!  ****, I have a problem!

Also, why are there murals of Fen'Harel consuming Mythal all over the place? The green ones. These have a demonic black wolf towering over a slim white outline of a woman with Halla horns. Like the one in the stables in Skyhold, near Blackwall....

Does anyone have a picture of this?  It doesn't appear in my game (I think some of the artworks were cut from lastgen versions), and I'd like to see it. :)

Also I noticed myself staring at his butt during dialogues in Haven. Never happened to me before. I'm straight but male butts always seemed meh to me. Until I met Solas. Funny

 I can relate to this so much it isn't even funny.

Heck, I wasn't even into all of the butt talk that was in this thread pre-release. Actually playing the game, though? It...sneaks up on you. I blame that pajama outfit he always wears. It's so oddly flattering.

A little bit of a strange question but I stopped playing my Warrior elfy because a) warriors are kinda boring and b ) she just looks completely ridiculous swinging about a greatsword that's easily the height and weight of her. Especially with her twiggy arms. Too, too unbelievable even in a world of magic, rifts and glowy hands.

So for you mage elfies, how do you play? What's your companion set up? Obviously Solas needs to be in the group at all times, but how do you roll with 2 squishy mages? Is there a good set up that includes Cole too? (Because I need to issue out hugs to him at all times.) I'm a bit out of my depth because I almost always go for two dagger rogue but that meant on previous playthroughs that I missed out on lots of Cole and Sera banter.

On both of my mage play throughs I ran mostly with Cass, Cole, and Solas.  Sometimes I would switch in Blackwall for Cass, and Sera or Varric for Cole.  I am currently playing Nightmare as a Knight-Enchanter.  Lavellan has a few points in Keeper for Barrier.  Solas is specced mostly Keeper and Rift Mage.  It gets pretty ridiculous.  My Nightmare play through has been easier than my Hard play through as a Warrior.

I wonder if Fen'Harel was considered a protector of the people at some point in their history?

Also if the Space Butterfly thing ends up meaning that everything is Solas's dream, I am going to need a lot of ice cream to deal with it. It's probably just a fictional deity joke. But I have an unfortunate brain.

Welcome to Team Nutbag Theory!

I'm half convinced at this point that Mythal had a hand in creating the elvish race as we know it (beings with free will as distinct from spirits bound to their nature or the will of a Maker) with the Dread Wolf as a key co-conspirator/protector of the People against the faction (or original Maker) that considered their creation an abomination.

But that's really far left field.  Wheee.

God.  I am going to spend the next two weeks hunting down wi-fi hotspots...

Those murals are not likely of Fen'Harel. Seems too much like a bear.

Solas does have the nicest voice in the game I think. I just melt when he says "My heart"

I sincerely hope they don't go the, "It was all a dream" route. I've always hated that device.
Although, it does make me want to replay and do everything in my power to make Solas Greatly Disapprove. Just in case.

Don't you reckon that Solas whines abit to much. Most of his arguments are on fades not social interactions ...

Hmm.  I took his "space butterfly" reference to be more of a "power over the veil dividing reality from fade" hint, rather than a "total control, it's all in his head" thing.   That would be more than a little disappointing.

I went and re-made my character with a different world state for a Hard run... and now I really hope we get a mirror of transformation like we had in DA2. I'm too far in to want to start over again and the fact I forgot to lower blush intensity or change her eyelashes is bugging me.

Oh well... I can live with it. I think. Maybe.

Spoiler

I think she's cute. :)  She looks like she could be Merrill's big sister!

I always thought that the result of studying Rift Magic is... your trainer... I can imagine the inq...

Spoiler

I guess it's best that this isn't actually what happens, because if it were I would never be able to play a class other than Rift Mage...

Edit: I also come back around to something not many people talk about, but the parallels between Solavellan and the Maker/ Andraste. The similarities are tenuous but they're there.

Yes! That was one of the first things that occurred to me after finishing the story. I can't help but think the similarity is intentional - not because it's necessarily that relevant to Solas' story arc (whatever it ends up being, anyway) but because it fits in quite nicely with the Inquisitor = Andraste thing the game has going on, and the "who IS Andraste really" question that lurks in codex entries throughout the series. Not that we're ever probably going to know what the real origin of Andraste's legend was, but it gives you a little more to chew on when you're driving yourself nuts trying to figure it out!

I think that's what it is, most people end up getting taken by surprise, personality wise, he hits all the right spots for me..like, every.single.one. And that's incredibly sexy.  He's...he's very much like someone that I was close to, only with pointy ears and a bald head.  You have no idea how many paralells I can draw between the two lol.  It's..almost scary.

Yeah, I don't like it, either, but I figured I'd put it out there.

I also really don't like the idea that ancient elves are aliens as were the Kossith (as the pyramid codex suggests).

I'm pretty sure that's what it is too, I just find it funny to think about the entire franchise being something Solas dreamed up lol.  The sh*tstorm would be immense.

I like to stare at his shoulders when his back's towards to in the kiss scenes. They are nice shoulders.

I'm with all of you liking the lankier guy- my husband is 6'5" and weighs about 180 soaking wet. He's all angles and I <3 it.

Pretty much this,Cullen is classically handsome with rugged manly features and nice physique. While Solas is more unconventionally beautiful,I'd say his features are a well balanced contrast between soft and sharp.
He has that kind of otherworldly aetheral look, even when he's dressed like a hobo.I think people are simply bothered by his lack of hair, because his facial features are well shaped. Then again beauty and attractiveness are completely subjective. :)

I can only intellectually get why people are into Cullen, or Anders. Alistair did get me, with that damned rose. But generally I'm sapiosexual in life and in videogames. They have to intrigue me, and I don't mean with their looks.

I did love Blackwall's romance. Gah, as if I needed more angst after Solas. But it's heartier and more physical while still being wrenching, so I relate to it in a different way.

First thing I thought of as well. As soon as I saw the post credits scene I was all, "the Inquisitor really is elf Andraste!" And then... "Cass would have a fit."

All of that talk of her grabbing his attention from the Fade, and showing him that the Dalish deserve a second chance...

Oh, and more generally re: race/gender restrictions, I also think of it as making sense from the opposite perspective. The character I had in mind when creating my Inquisitor might be unusually openminded for a Dalish elf, but I couldn't quite rationalize that she'd consider getting involved with a human. I mean, she likely grew up thinking that basically makes you a traitor to your race, so I feel like that would take some time to get over.

Good thing I didn't make her a guy, then he'd just have to be forever alone after getting shot down by Sera. :P

Ooo, I'd forgotten about that codex.  Interesting stuff...  (*actually has that theory a-aha...*)

The people with antlers thing is something I wonder if we'll see more of outside of an artwork here and there...  If the elves and Qunari actually have a shared progenitor race, that'd be wild.

Well... "sane" is a matter of perspective.

Imagine you have a gorgeous symphony orchestra playing a Beethoven suite.  Suddenly some random guy in the brass section stands up and shouts, "This is tyranny!  Everyone should be able to play whatever they want!" and half the orchestra bursts into Mary Had A Little Lamb, smooth jazz, hip hop and half a dozen clashing, dissonant, random songs.

It's simply order versus chaos, to some degree.  Whether you consider free will to be a bad thing depends very much on whether you're the Conductor or the guy who's sick and tired of Beethoven.

So I totally imagined that actually happening with the elves. I will forever believe that this is exactly how Fen'Harel came to be the 'god' of rebellion.
