After Solas I wouldn't even romance Dorian even if I could as a lady, honestly... there's just nothing there.  I'm so hopelessly lost at this point...but in a good way.

THIS!!!! ok I created a new handsome dude for Dorian but I suddenly felt no motivative to keep going....Reload the first playthough which I romanced Dorian, stared at him and feel empty....Where does all my feels go?!??? I'm sorry, Dorian!!!

I should have romance you last, Solas!!!

THAT!

Is so true.

To be honest - every time I see a fanart of him with hair I cringe. Solas is perfect with all his shiny baldness, and I'm really not attracted to bald guys.. Or so I thought apparently.

Same! I have never really been into bald guys, either. Somehow, on Solas, it works. I can't really imagine him any other way now.

I wonder how that perspective affects the relationship with Lavellan. Since he seems to want very badly for her to see him for him, - to have some understanding even if it can never be complete - is he just unable to apply the same logic to other relationships?

And then there's the banter with Cole about love where he's like, "how could they not?" He seems to understand that a relationship can have value because of the emotional benefits of it.

I'm not sure his problem is seeing things as just large scale issues but that he really does have a race elitism thing going on.

Well Solas does ooze elitism even when he tries not to. As compared to Viv who never tries not to ;)

Its like he only considers emotional connection from a theorical stand point in others.

He definitly gets taken by surprise by the emotional benefits of a relationship. Thats usually the type of answers you get from him when you choose romantic dialogue after major quests (im not used to having someone there for me, etc.) She is his connection to the present, she makes things matter (and thats against the Plan).

Solas definitly doesnt have the right attitude to convince people. But I find him much more agaisnt acculturation then pro-racism.

He also is an ass to Sera just because he can. That makes him a troll ;P

Yeah, I don't like it, either, but I figured I'd put it out there.

I also really don't like the idea that ancient elves are aliens as were the Kossith (as the pyramid codex suggests).

Wait, what?  Pyramid aliens what?  Does anyone have that codex on hand?

Do you guys remember the Fen'Harel shrine in the Exalted Plains? It's near the dragon and one of those ancient elven artifacts. Is there a codex entry by it? Anyone know what it says?

IMO his problem is that before he went to sleep he was on the level of some kind of king/wise man/extremely powerful being. He goes to sleep and wakes up and everyone thinks he's an idiot and a crazy person. He's just not used to be talked to like that, and doesn't know how to respond. He doesn't have the ability to show how powerful and respected he once was. He's just some guy now with a lot of memories and wisdom.

I assume now that he (and mythal or however they got all up in each other) are powerful again, he's going to do something that will be seen as morally bad, and condescending.

Love the videos! I do however disagree with the translation. But until the devs say what it means its all up to speculation. Weekes said himself that due to massive spoilers he can't translate it.
Hopefully we will know soon. My favorite theory is:

Spoiler

Great videos! We need more music tributes. :)

I can only intellectually get why people are into Cullen, or Anders. Alistair did get me, with that damned rose. But generally I'm sapiosexual in life and in videogames. They have to intrigue me, and I don't mean with their looks.

I did love Blackwall's romance. Gah, as if I needed more angst after Solas. But it's heartier and more physical while still being wrenching, so I relate to it in a different way.

Hmm I haven't known that word before, that is probably the best definition of myself (I tried to realize for a long time whether I'm asexual or not >_>)

And, yes.

Alistair, Fenris and now Solas.

Even if I did have romance with Anders (that was ugh, I wanted to Anders from awakening!) and Blackwall, I usually get hooked on one character in a game.

And to be honest, Solas takes the cake - throughout the three games.

Probably throughout all video games I know.

Besides that - me thinks that maybe I really didn't enjoy Blackwall's romance was because my character was a dwarf. Everytime they were about to kiss she floated like 20 inches off the ground, it was sooooo awkward, I hated it. Though generally, it doesn't feel as deep (to me) as the romance with Solas.

I don't think Solas is racist at all. Whenever he puts someone down it's because of their actions, not their race. In party banter he admits he feels respect for Cassandra and Blackwall (Before the revelation). As a human inquisitor he did say he respected my character too. I think his name if very fitting (Pride) and it's easy to confuse pride with egoism/elitism.

I think his motivations are "pure" I couldn't see him doing anything morally bad myself. He's all about the big picture, doing the right thing for everyone. He's happy to help out human refugees in the Hinterlands. Lots of quests involving helping out villager types he approves of. I think he's a good guy with some strong opinions. Which considering who and what he is, totally makes sense.

Ha! I like this. As a sort of underlying reason for why he gets so pissy when the Dalish kick him out for being too weird. He was probably used to being respected. He likely had his own allies and followers. And he knows that he's right.

Though I think in order to live as he does now (unassuming Fade nerd who wanders the wilderness) he's had to have changed a lot from his younger, more arrogant self. He may get into snarkfights with Viv, but he doesn't really try to defend himself if someone insults him personally. The most he'll do is troll Sera.

Well, he does respond to some degree by just being generally bitter and cranky.  It especially comes out in his dialogues with Varric, Sera, and a pro-Dalish Inquisitor.  It's certainly not a constructive way to deal with his situation, but IMO you'd have to be a saint to be in Solas's shoes and not get cranky.

I'm getting through the Dorian romance pretty well; he's adorable, and my Adaar is adorable, and they're just amazing together.  But I think I'm done after that character.  It took me so, so long to come up with a second PC who was even playable after Lavellan.

The codex is called The Pyramids of Par Vollen, it's in the Tales section.  I wouldn't say it's a smoking gun about aliens (or anything extradimensional), but it's very interesting.  It tells about what little is known of the culture that lived on Par Vollen before the Qunari arrived.  Built pyramids and worshipped horned people.  When the Qunari arrived, they assumed they were their gods or whatever returned, and quickly discarded their prior civilization for the Qun.

"Most people act with so little understanding of the world"

Yet is acting with ancient understanding and following a bigger plan that much better?

We will see what the eventual dlc has to say about that

Wait, what?  Pyramid aliens what?  Does anyone have that codex on hand?

I don't have a screenshot from the current game's codex, but I know there is one.  Here's a blurb from http://dragonage.wik...wiki/Par_Vollen

The ancient inhabitants of the island built impressive pyramids. Yet the Qunari have made their own mark here. In Qunandar, the capital and only city of any note, the Qunari have constructed great domes and aqueducts. The size of this city is said to rival Cumberland.[3]

Of the pyramids and the civilization that built them, very little is known. The pyramids themselves are known to have nearly-perfect proportions, and their locations on Par Vollen have been theorized to closely correspond with a specific constellation. The purpose served by the pyramids is lost to history; although they are known to contain well-preserved remains, the pyramids do not appear designed as tombs.

The pyramids and other ruins of Par Vollen's ancient civilization also feature murals of the natives interacting in a subservient manner with horned beings who are not Qunari. It is believed that the Qunari conquered Par Vollen so easily because the natives mistakenly associated the Qunari with the horned beings they venerated, and therefore most natives chose to submit to the invaders' rule.

I also think that at his core he knows his own value. When people try to posture at him, he is never intimidated. He just doesn't seem the type of man who would ever be phased by such tactics. As his power grows with the inquisitor I think he recovers a lot of his confidence again as well.

He was once a political player, and in my head he was probably similar to Little Finger from Song of Ice and Fire (but with much more noble goals). Old fables of him show how clever he was, and if you read between the lines you can see a man who played on others very well.

Yeah, aliens is a bit misleading.  I'm thinking more something like the "worlds" where the eluvians lead to.
