I really, really don't want Iron Bull to be the only bi option from the party, because I don't find anything at all romantically appealing about him.
You will never escape him, muahahahaha. ![]()
Neither will I.

The play of pain.
I know I'm already setting myself up for trouble attempting to romance him with a female qunari Inquisitor. (That's my dream scenario btw) But if he's race gated I think he'd be the one open to dwarves and elves mainly. I'll honestly break out the first dwarven play through ever for him.
And oh my gosh, as much as I love you all I think I'll be missing once Dragon Age Inquisition comes out. It'll be like 'do I go on the forums and potentially spoil myself? Or do I just hunker down and play the game?'
I'd like to know, personally. I have most of my player characters figured out. I need one for Solas!
I have a hard time seeing Solas as being race gated. I don't think he'll be one of the ones, if he's an LI. I just see him as being really cerebral and attracted to a person on a more emotional/intellectual level than the physical. I can see him as being totally race and gender blind. That could just be me projecting onto him how I idealize his personality based on what we know, though.
It would be cool if you could share dreams with him. But that's probably too resource heavy.

Hopefully they're gonna reveal everyone on friday!
Even if it does't turn out to be what I want, at least we'll know and have time to adjust ourselves
But I still think Solas chance isn't too bad
If the 8 romances include the non advisor / companion one it could be:
Cass (straight)
Cullen (straight)
Dorian (gay)
Sera (lesbian)
Josephine (bi)
Npc (Dagna? / bi, maybe for everyone exept Qunari)
IB (bi, everyone exept elves)
Solas (bi)
And if the npc isn't included his chances would be even higher
I'm counting on this.

By the way... I discovered an Irish folk band called Solas. LOL

You know, I really believe that as well. While he is very dedicated to his research, I currently can not think of a reason why he'd forgo romance if the Inquisitor wholeheartedly shares his passions and views in life. (Then again, there could be something in his past we just don't know about yet)
However, for budget reasons I just feel better thinking about in him terms of race-gating. It's like erm... I hate being a debbie downer, but I really feel Solas has more of a cult following than anything. Especially when a considerable amount of individuals still are repulsed by Solas' mere physical attributes. And while I would really respect the writers and designers for doing something I wouldn't consider 'safe' by making a character (who many do not find attractive) an option for an Inquisitor of any race, gender, or age because they connect on a emotional and intellectual level, I don't think the gaming world is ready for a romance like so. (Or at least prepared not to whine that so much of the budget went to that while it could have gone to X, Y, and Z) Uh... my thoughts are becoming more of a train-wreck the more I think about this. Yes, okay, Liara I guess could fall into that category, but Liara was conventionally pretty so it was okay for her to do so. Solas on the other hand?
Uh... my train of thought has left the station and is out in whosits magee land. Anyway, I just feel a bit better thinking of him in terms of race gating. While I commend the Dragon Age team for making some very gutsy decisions this time around (character appearance wise, race-gating, so on and so forth), there's a point where you draw the line. That line I see is at race gating with Solas.
And then here is where I go on some tangent about something I watched in the documentary Jodorowsky's Dune connected to this but blah blah abkjakjljjkljdflkja I almost wrote it all out and posted it but it wasn't important// Iunno I just feel like Solas potential romance could be beautiful and wonderful on an asexual level

I'd be like that time you share a memory with Liara at the end of Mass Effect 3.

I really, really don't want Iron Bull to be the only bi option from the party, because I don't find anything at all romantically appealing about him. There's already Dorian and I love him, but I would be soooooo happy to get Solas for the second character I have planned. They would be such a perfect fit. Solas has been easily my second favorite (a close second, even, which I never thought would happen when I first saw him) since they released his writer profile. What's been said about him is just so perfect. I really adore Solas for what we know about his personality and I know better than to get attached, but I'll be really disappointed if he's not an LI. In a way, I was a little nervous to see Cullen confirmed as straight, because he was my #3 choice backup, but it's totally worth it if Solas is bi. With 8 confirmed LIs it's so close! Come on, Solas, LOOOOOVE MEEEEEEEE!
I really want to play a female first (really really want to, though I'm willing to compromise if need be). Before we knew the sexuality of any character my list fluctuated a lot but almost always started with:
...I'm obviously not very good at this... ![]()
I'm getting interested in Cullen again and keeping an open mind regarding Iron Bull and Josephine so I'm sure things will turn out ok for me, but so far my hope for the characters I was most ecstatic about aren't panning out ![]()
So... come on, Solas! ![]()

I get what you mean and, I admit, I was actually pretty shallow concerning Solas when he was first introduced. What we know about his personality totally won me over. I know a lot of people still are down on his looks, I've seen it in the romance thread and others. But the thing is, all the guys left are pretty unconventional. They had Cullen and Dorian, but everyone else is definitely not what you automatically think of as the "leading man" type. So, I think Solas's looks aren't too much of an issue, in context. We know only 2 LIs will be gated and I could see it pretty easily being one male and one female choice. Iron Bull makes a lot of sense as the male LI to be gated, so I have strong hope for Solas to be the omnisexual option that's available for everyone.
That being said, I want to romance him with a male elf, so I will definitely still take him as a bi option gated for elves. lol

All is forgiven. You're now part of our happy little village. Here, have a nice stump to sit on!

Well, I always found Varric leading man material, but it seems the consensus is that he's still in it to win it with Bianca. (I am really REALLY sorry Varric romancers, I truly am (believe me, I wanted a Jokermance amongst others), but I too can say I'm in the Varric and Bianca boat) Other then that I can see where you're coming from with that statement.
Hey, may we all win in the end. I'd be excited to play a dwarf! Looks like their models are shaping up to be quite nice this time around.

Apparently I'm not very good at this either since those are my top three as well. Oops... ![]()
I hope this is not like 95% of other Bioware games I've played where my main character has to go solo. DAII is the only game where I got the LI I wanted with the player character that I wanted (thank the maker for bisexual Merrill). Still holding out for Solas though...hopefully we don't have to wait until October to find out if he is available or not.
/snip
A while ago I was joking with my friend that my female quizzy would run off to her chambers in order to bawl her eyes out, every time after talking to cass/dorian/solas
I hope that won't turn out to be a harsh reality
OH MY GLOB
We can all draw and compile a picture album of our fem quizitors crying.
Though I kind of prepared for Cass being male only. That's why Bob was created. (old joke, but my male qunari Inquisitor)
I think my female qunari Inquisitor is too tough-gal to cry. She'll just sit in the dining room with a really intense expression as she drinks a dark ale with a bitterness that can rival her own.

I also think Varric will be not be an LI, and race-gated to dwarves if so.
But to talk about Solas, I hope he's either a bisexual or gay LI. For some reason, I don't think he'll be straight.

I actually still think Solas has a good chance of being a bi, ungated LI. My confidence is pretty good that we'll see it. That could end badly for me, but I'm keeping the hope going. I haven't had bad luck with my guesses/wants for companions and LIs so far, so I'm not as pessimistic as others yet. lol
I spent waaaaay too long listening to Welsh accents today. Solas is never leaving my party. Ever.

Nocte, you're one of the only things keeping me going. I should be throwing cookies at you because your posts always cheer me up ![]()
RE: his cult following
I don't think his current popularity should be taken as an indication of his not being a love interest- no doubt they made that decision well over a year ago and I doubt they'd change it now. Besides, he strikes me as a slow burn type of character, or someone who is stealth awesome rather than "Hel-lo" right from the gates. Not to disparage anyone, but Dorian is definitely the latter, and so is Iron Bull, in his own way. Meanwhile, Cullen and Varric have had time to develop fanbases. All of this is scary, because it seems the odds are against the bald apostate, but this time around the writers seem less concerned with what's popular, or what's easy to package, and more concerned with telling the characters' stories first. In the end, all we can do is hope that Solas' story ends with some manner of us getting to consensually grope his butt.
[rampant optimism] Also, if anything, I'd take the fact that they keep tweaking his appearance to be a hopeful sign? Like why would they care if we found him attractive if he's just another companion? [/rampant optimism]
Not yet, I'm still hopeful
If it does happen, I'll definitely make a funny compilation or something, to drown my sorrow
Maybe I should just bother them during gamescom until they give in afterall?
If they talk about some super crazy Solas fan, that will probsbly be me
/screams loudly
You're going to gamescom? You'll be at one of their panels? They'll be there?
YASSSS represent yassss!
Hopefully we'll get information before that con, but if not... be our busy BEEs representer.
If there is another male LI companion and it turns out to be Blackwall, well that also is kinda lame, because - putting aside the tragic doomed romance that I really don't want to see again - he is yet again another burly large, manly, muscular guy...and tbh I'm just not attracted to that. Like I said before I want something different in a male LI, I want smarts and brains and someone less bulky and masculine.
So....fingers crossed for Solas as a LI...pretty please?
I think this is my greatest concern, that all the male LIs turn out to be warrior types.
I don't know if I've missed any IB info but all the hints are at his promiscuity so I'm not yet convinced that he's going to be a proper LI. If he is his popularity is surely going to be fairly niche, he's soooo over muscled he looks like he's on steroids, which ain't a very attractive look to many. <insert amusing gif of disgusted child in car here> (sorry, don't have it and too early to look for it)
In addition to being a warrior, Blackwall's also a grey warden! = GTFO! I'm over that story, and over terminal companion LIs NO! NO! NO! ![]()
I know many really want to see Varric as a LI but I really don't. This is mainly because of Bianca, but also because that would mean that two of the LIs available to female PCs are established characters, which is a bit dull. He'd also surely be race gated to dwarven females which would leave those playing humans and elves with the warrior brigade and if he's not race gated that would be pretty awkward and quite niche.
So, what's my point (I'm not sure myself)... but I think it is about balance, unless there's an awesome, more lightweight, non warrior character LI we don't know about, Solas is the only character that I can see bringing some balance to the LIs.
I guess the question is, would BW leave make a LI party that was totally unbalanced and try all their niche ideas on mainly female players????
Answer -absof***inglutely they would *looks at the space on the shelf ME3 collectors edition used to inhabit before being traded in for £4*
