In a game-related topic: does anyone else find it odd that Solas is apparently a talented artist in his own right, but there is no conversation option to directly ask him about the Skyhold murals? I kept hoping I could bug him about them, but never saw a dialog about it, just the note.
Am I the only one who feels weird about this art? It looks to me like he's about to prepare her for
humanelf sacrifice. It's not how I imagine Solas. He's passionate, but gentle.
It does have a rather dark, ominous tone to it but I still find it pretty... hot. ![]()
Hey, I kind of have a thing for dark, ominous and sexy so don't mind me.

Those murals are not likely of Fen'Harel. Seems too much like a bear.
I think it's the artists' (as in the developers') way of giving a nod to Game of Thrones. I read the books but I somehow thought that the Bear and the Maiden Fair came from Dragon Age...
In any case, that seems to be a reference to it, and I suspect that the "lady" in the mural is meant to be a Lady of the Forest. Perhaps those are branches, not antlers? For that matter, it might be a werewolf instead of a bear.
Thanks!
Yeah, and that does look more like a bear.
Ooo, I'd forgotten about that codex. Interesting stuff... (*actually has that theory a-aha...*)
The people with antlers thing is something I wonder if we'll see more of outside of an artwork here and there... If the elves and Qunari actually have a shared progenitor race, that'd be wild.
People with antlers...? Could be the fex, or someone from the north across the Waking Sea?
I think there are more races on Thedas than we have met, including whatever the qunari originally were.

Erm, okay. I'm just going to enjoy your shots. Here you go: http://www.bfcinematictools.com/dai/ - hattiwatti's cinematic tools for DAI.
It hooks into frostbite and gives you access to the engine's graphical post-processing tools. Yup, that includes flycam. It's a bit fiddly, requires a lot of patience, and sometimes (read: often) bugs out. But I think it's worth it.
I made a post a little way up about my graphics settings. I also use sweetfx for smaa, lumasharpening, and a few other post-processing effects.

Lots of art/ fanfiction goes for dominant!Solas, which I don't think is in character (but it's still quite hot). Personally, I think he's the type to top from the bottom (sorry, I think I've said that a few times now)... but that art is lovely.

I guess I'm not really understanding how pride or wisdom turns into rebellion. Those seem awfully far-flung from each other.
Pride is kind of funny, because it's one of those emotions that can be seen as both a virtue and a sin.... but if you forget your self worth completely, you could allow people to enslave you or mistreat you. So pride would be a precursor to rebellion against an oppressor who uses shame to enslave you.

First I was shocked at how BioWare was able to wrench my focus from the characters/events of Origins & DA2 to the Inquisition. Then my Lavellan romanced Solas & the nuances of his character & their relationship blew me away. Then the huge Fen'Harel reveal at the end literally had me going - okay, I officially no longer give a crap about anything else in this whole series but what happens to Solas. As far as I'm concerned, Solas is the main character of Dragon Age from here on out. The rest of the characters, including my PC, are merely minor stars in his constellation. And you know what - I like it.

Lavellan: These are beautiful! How did you learn to paint like this? Even our hearthmistress would have been impressed with your technique. And the brushstrokes...
Solas: In my journeys through the fade I encountered many a spirit of Creativity and Craft
Lavellan: Ah, of course, I should have guessed
I imagine part of the reason he has so little dialogue is because his response to almost everything that happened pre-Inquisition would be "I learned it/saw it in the Fade"
remind me of that "calibration" stuff ![]()
BTW i myself find the theory that elvhen gods need to occupy body wired. If that is the case then it seems wired for Mythal to be murdered, and only her soul survived and managed to find Flem.

AHHH. In the pre-Skyhold conversation, I love the way he saunters over to the unlit torch and lights it with a casual gesture... right up until his wrist bends back at 90 degrees. Then I cringe and silently wonder where the animators' QA guy was.
... my wrist can bend back 90 degrees.
So...I've been on a couple other threads discussing what/where DA4 might be, and I feel pretty confident that the Solas/Inquisitor storyline has to get wrapped up in dlc/expansion.
Spoiler
I completely agree. They knew what they were doing with that stinger. There are just so many reasons why it would be best as a DLC, same protagonist, answers while the questions are still burning, etc, but I don't want to spend forever rehashing. People can be pessimists and think what they want, but I for one think it would be a spectacularly stupid move, fan-wise and business-wise, if they didn't wrap this up as a DLC within 6 months to a year.
And I heard "confirmation" that BW planned for DA4 to take place in the more northern regions, like Tevinter, etc, so it would make sense to have this already done. I also personally think the next game is going to focus on dwarves and qunari, because pretty much all the others have gotten their day (DAO was Wardens, DA2 was humans, DAI is elves). Also, I do think dwarves kind of hold the key to this whole magic vs fade vs blight thing.

Do remember that Flemeth describes waht she found as a fragment, or wisp was it?, of Mythal's soul, so it's entirely possible the theory is true and Mythal's spirit was so weakened for not having a body for so long

Yeah, I guess I can see the appeal for some. When I look at the art, I'm like it's so beautiful, but it's not Solas. I see Solas as the white wolf, and not the black one. But that might be because I didn't see his angry side much since I didn't ****** him off in the game haha.

yeah, but his personal quest and the conversation with a highly disapprove Solas suggests he can be that terrifying big black wolf.

Nah, I know what you mean. That is one gorgeous as hell fanart, but I find I prefer the ones where Solas is looking gentle. In that one he looks like a cold, cruel god.

Ha! I remember saying that myself, way back when. Though really, I don't think he engages in the dominance stuff at all.
I'm really choosy with my fanfic (so choosy that I haven't read any in years), but I found this one fic that's just perfect. It's so in-character. Confident, but not domineering. Gentle, but passionate. And always holding back right up to the point where he isn't. In my mind, it really crystallizes what I don't like about the whole Dominant!Solas thing. You can do sexy while not going into power dynamics.

I'm pretty sure that Solas is moving towards the Anderfels because he's going west and that seems like the only area west that is of any interest. Tevintar is directly north so at the very least he's probably stopping at Anderfels first. Maybe he needs to get something at Weisshaupt to further his plans.

This. I've never felt so interested in a character's future in a video game. Or invested. So I hope it goes well!

Mine too. Is that not normal?
I'd love to learn about dwarves! Though if they go to Tevinter they'll probably be dealing with the elves too since they're there (as slaves) and there history is there. At least a side-quest. Maybe Abelas will show up again!

It's like alternate-universe Solas. I get a sheep/wolf vube going on...especially since she's so white and fluffy. And I like that he looks so dangerous. It's not something we get to see in the game, despite the fact that he is/was supposedly an elven god. Sure he gets angry, but I was never really afraid of him as the Inquisitor (wasn't afraid of Cory either though let's be honest).
Also side not I am DONE with my final assignment for the year which means winter break!!

Only time I was afraid of Cory was when I was almost dead with no potions after the last haven fight. Then he showed up in that cutscene and I was like...damn how am I suppose to fight him in this state.
Edit: I seriously need to proofread my posts so that I don't feel the need to go back to fix typos.

Goin' to rescue my Hawke for Fenris. He doesn't want to leave his elven bro without his love. Right?
Where is Hawke is #2 on my things-I-care-about list for the DA games. I was kind of miffed that there was no way for me to ensure she stayed in southern Thedas. Seriously, why does she go to Weisshaupt when you conscript the Wardens? She doesn't need to supervise anything. Can't Leliana send a raven?

But but but, it's easier to kill Hawke who doesn't even look or sound like my DA2 Hawke than to kill Alistair who is with my mage Warden. Sorry Fenris, you just have to deal with it.
