After replaying Heart Shall Burn last night I'm pretty sure that Solas gave Corybutt the orb a while back. How else would Coryphebutt talk about a ritual "years in the making"? Infiltrating the wardens must have taken years, and what, how long has passed sind Corypheus was released by Hawke? 2 years? About more or less? I think he already had the orb then - and he knew exactly how to activate it: with blood magic (Justinia as sacrifice). So I think Cory had done this before and therefore knew how to use the orb. Meaning he must have gotten it a real while back. I just... don't know what Soals was up to in the mean time. Sexy time with Fade spirits? Or what?

Did anyone notice that Solas' two end tarot cards contain a black or white (depending on romance or not) wolf, while Solas himself has been described as grey and sees the world in shades of grey? He even refuses to simplify some of the current conflict in Thedas as black or white. What could this mean? Or am I just reading to much into things.

I don't think it was posted here yet. If I recall correctly, the BioWare writers aren't giving out an official translation to what is said, because it would go into spoiler territory that they don't want to go into yet. Apparently (according to Lady Insanity who made the video) some people were being rather nasty about her translation and accused her of not having spent enough time on the translation. People can be butt heads.

If you're talking about Patrick Weekes, he uses rot13 to encrypt his tweets if they have anything spoilery in there.  You can use www.rot13.com to decypher the gibberish.

Hi guys! Sorry for all mistakes, english isn't my first language.

So I romanced Cullen (just great), IB (fun, but nothing more) and now I don't know if I need to play it again. Should I romance Solas if I want to know his story more? I like his voice and I think he is good for game, but I really don't like how he looks..like, how do you say it without being rude? Not my type of appearance?

The question: is his romance going to help understand him more as a character (which is almost 10/10, after Skyhold I was like ''damn Solas you are coming with me on every mission, I smell something fishy'') or is it just random kisses and 'lol bye' at the end. Like Cullen romance is cuteness and fluffy feels but you understand character pretty much the same even without romancing him.

Solas has barely any content beyond the scenes you've seen. To me the Solas romance made the game. It's painful and you do get a little more insight, but not much. As for the way he looks... I find him sexy as all hell because I like intellectuals, but you really should see him in cinematics, he is gorgeous!

You'll see a little bit more of his personality in the romance but not much else. That little bit more has created a lot of sympathy in fans who did the romance though, so maybe it's worth it?

No worries about the English. I live in Germany, but am a native English speaker, so I feel your pain in expressing oneself, especially when you don't want to be rude. 

Most of us fell in love with Solas through interacting with him. After that he became very physically appealing. Many of us, including myself (former Cullenite), romanced him in a second playthrough.

All I can say is:

The romance is great and you will get a bit of insight into his character. There is, however, less content than Cullen or other romances. It may be a painful experience and if you go through with his romance you will probably visit us here more often for moral support.

Am I the only one who feels weird about this art? It looks to me like he's about to prepare her for human elf sacrifice. It's not how I imagine Solas. He's passionate, but gentle.

The art is absolutely gorgeous, but Lavellan looks passive and completely at his mercy; while Solas looks distant, dominant and more "I've seen things you can't even imagine" than tender. I just don't imagine either of them that way... and this may get me thrown out the blanket fort, but I totally headcanon

By the way (jeez I post a lot, like A LOT)..

 

I thought about it some more (I probably slept on it since I woke up with these things in my head) and I've come to some ideas.

There is the fact that the Inqi's mark is permanent, while it could be so that the player can close rifts after end game it feels a bit off - they had no issues removing other things after the end of the game -ahemsolasahem ahemconversationsahem ahemmyromancedblackwalldisappearedfromskyholdalthoughstillinpartyaheem-, and since the breach is finally closed it'd be more likely these rifts will close (I closed all of the rifts before the game's end, but I suppose they stay open, right?).

So, me thinks it's a plot device within all of that Solas mystery solving arc that should be. I'm not sure what kind of relations the anchor has to Solas after the ritual but it is a key, to open things and to close them. Don't you wonder if that applies for things other than the fade?

 

 

I was thinking about this last night and I was curious to why the Mark wasn't mentioned during end game. I would have thought at least one character would have brought it up to why the Inq still has the Mark (I know it's there for gameplay purposes like you mentioned). I hope you're right that DLC will explain/expand and give us more Solas.

The thing is I can't find him sexy because he looks like my dad. Well without ears and God thing, but other than that..so it's a little creepy for me to say that about Solas 8D But I fully agree that being smart is always A+. 

Well then I'll probably wait for some sort of DLC. I was just hoping for having one more scene with him after end party, but goddammit. You are all pretty strong here, this is too masochisctic for me. 8D

Oh I don't think I could romance someone who looked like my dad either. We get one additional scene, before the ending and that's it. Saying that, that scene also is probably one of the more intense scenes I have seen in a computer game to date so it sort of makes it worth it.

I agree- the art is gorgeouuusss, but the relationship depicted isn't anything like my HC at all... I don't feel that it reflects Solas' personality. But that's okay I wish I could draw.

I haven't decided what my Lavellan would do after the relationship though. Hopefully get back together haha, but at the end of the Inquisition she's basically broken. Her entire clan is gone, Solas is gone, her friends will start to leave, etc. Maybe she'll go to Tevinter with her bff Dorian.

Oh god I'm not sure why but Solas' sexy time with spirits makes me cringe XD

And yes, I just quoted the part where he says that 'it's your fault Herald. You've interrupted a ritual years in the planning, and instead of dying you stole its' purpose'.

This sentence made me think about a lotttt of things.

Years in the making may indicate he was planning doing it, while knowing that he can achieve that with a Foci, maybe that's how he convinced Sols to give it to him, although... Geez. Anyone who looks like Corypheblech is not to be trusted.

Otherwise, maybe Solas awoke around the time Hawke freed Coryphemeh from its' warden prison.

Actually the Inquisitor can be the one who says it too - I was watching a video of a Well-drinking Lavellan on youtube, in the version where there's no dark ritual/Kieran, and he says that to Flemythal and she's just like "clever lad". Lol I notice how she technically doesn't confirm or deny it... 

 

But yeah, at some point the Inquisitor is going to keep hearing strange new clues about Solas which would lead them to ask questions, and if the Voices are capable of answering them there's nothing stopping her from using the Well, really.

 

That's why I wonder if the writers might fall back on the "Mythal/Solas controls the voices" thing if only to prevent a too easy resolution of future mysteries that the Inquisitor is faced with.

That's what she told me with the dwarf, but I had the default world state with her.

 

Anyhow, it still could be that she doesn't control the voices, and that they led her on their on volition because they knew it would give her the ability to fight the dragon. As said, Flemeth was obviously not aware of who drank from the well of sorrows.

 

Or perhaps, indeed, it is as you say and they can control the voices, though it would be a shame. Maybe they would let the voices guide the unknowing Inquisitor somewhere important and once Solas notices this he tries to communicate with the voices to stop this?

That would be enough to stir up a story.

 

So many options, all leave so much positive possibilities!

I'm regaining hope for Solas' future ;_;

It really depends on the kind of character being played.

My Lavellan is a "doesn't need a partner to be happy" sort and will maybe move on if she falls in love again (if only Cassandra were into ladies!) or will maybe not if she doesn't. So long as the Inquisition exists and she's the Inquisitor, that's her first priority.
