He wasn't very good at not being shady.

He is the most intelligent idiot in Thedas, yes. Someone needs to sit him down and tell him he needs to think things through more carefully.

We jump to conclusions, he is not only intelligent, but also wise. He's also very open to opinions.

That makes it possible that it won't have to end with such a horrible ending ;_;

Oh my, did anyone else get these dialogues with Dorian about romancing Solas? <3

I was wondering why the subtitles were like that.

I do find it weird however that Dorian does not respond. At all. To the romance.

On how my Lavellan is feeling right now?  She's gutted, lonely and reckless.  I'll not be taking her out with a party until a suitable DLC is announced.  Have made a more streetsmart rogue who's going to go the angry route when he dumps her, she's going to put a braver face on the whole thing.

My Lavellan isn't angry about what Solas did, just sad and confused.

Fenris should just stick to perfecting his brooding. He knows nothing about his people. He didn't even know he had a sister!

Technically, Fenris said elves can't grow beards.  And that's true.

I can't grow a beard either, but that doesn't mean there isn't any hair whatsoever on my face if I look closely.  I think most ladies are aware of this.

So how are all of your Lavellan's feeling about Solas breaking up with them and leaving?

Mine is pretty devastated at first.  Solas was her first love, poor thing.  Then she starts to poke around because she's insatiably curious, and he's left her with a puzzle: why did he leave me?  What did I do?  What is he up to?  He also left a lot of clues behind in that room.  Once she works through the initial burst of depression, she's mostly just ticked off at him.  Break up, fine.  Leaving the Inquisition, fine.  Deciding unilaterally that she couldn't possibly handle whatever he was up to?  Not fine at all.

Is there really such a concern for 100% elven babies? I always thought the game hinted that mages existed due to an original pairing of elf/human (possibly Andraste, with all the codex entries about her lineage). Though I will have to go hunting for the evidence (after I finish this essay) not looking to justify human/Solas babies nope

It's why city elves are careful to arrange marriages with other elves, and why the Dalish are so down on human/elf pairings.  The elves would slowly die out as a race if they assimilated, and that fact informs a lot of the elves' racism against others.

Yeah, but Fenris had a bit of stubble, too.  Unless that was him just never washing his face.

So how are all of your Lavellan's feeling about Solas breaking up with them and leaving?

I actually don't picture my Lavellan being angry at him, at least not for leaving her. She realizes that he didn't want to and clearly felt like he had to. She's more worried about him than anything, because whatever he plans on doing sounds really self-destructive and no good ever came out of a person thinking that they had to walk their path alone. If she's angry at him for anything, it's for not letting her try and help him. She's an optimistic sort so she's trying to ignore the idea that he's up to something that could hurt Thedas as she knows it.

Basically there'd be no yelling or punching if came back to her, though I understand those who feel their Lavellan would do that.

Also, I love that Solas has some stubble going on! I wonder if there's any on his head or if it's completely smooth.

The breaking up isn't a huge problem. She'd be sad about that, but it's not a huge thing.

The leaving is what gets me. He just drops off the face of Thedas. Sure, he implies he might be leaving, but there's no "goodbye" no "there's something I need to take care of." Whatever his personal reasons are for not telling her, the fact is that the person she cared the most about and the person she thought cared about her (if not romantically, than as a friend)  leaves her. And not like Leliana/Cassandra/Vivienne leaves if they become Divine; they have a purpose and a duty that Lavellan understands. Solas goes seemingly for no reason.

How she ultimately reacts...A lot depends on how he comes back and why. If he shows up again asking for her help using the mark I think she would be very hurt and angry, because she would interpret that to mean that he's only returning because she has something he wants. Double that anger if he doesn't bother to explain why he needs her help, but expects her to just trust him. Triple it if he keeps up the "we're just comrades" facade.

Then I have a headcanon where she starts meddling trying to find the creators, and long story short messes something up in a way that isn't really her fault. Solas finds her, angry that she did the "wrong" thing and she just explodes like "bro you lost your right to have an opinion when you left me."

But if he comes back for her? And it's clear it's for her and not for something she can do for him. Or even if he comes back because he needs her help but patiently explains what he's doing and doesn't leave her in the dark and tells her he loves her again?

Also want to share this fanart because I think it is pretty in-character but it's also NSFW (because topless Lavellan) so just a link: http://hawkeeffect.t...st/105466613901

Oh, I'm dying.  I just imagine Fenris muttering about elves and such and Hawke yelling that at him and Anders snickering.  Oh my god, that would be so mean.  I miss mean and evil Hawke.

I do kind of wish there was a proper ruthless option for Inquisition.  I can be mean, but I'm always "reasonably" mean.  I don't want that, dammit.  i want to raze countries to the ground and become the evil magister Corypenis could only dream of.  Muahahahahahahahahaha.  I am the chosen one!  I am the God!

*sigh*  There's nothing quite like going full demon loving, blood maging, companion hating Hawke.

That's entirely true, though what about the part Solas telling Blackwall that there are elves with beards?

Maybe they have a really hard time growing one?

I recall it was Word of God that he didn't and that was just the skin texture, but either way, that isn't a beard either. :P

Mine's pretty sad and confused.  She can handle him breaking up with her, as much as it hurt, but him skipping town without so much as a goodbye cut pretty deep.  I think she'll try hard to move forward, though.  As much as it hurts (and she does feel his missing presence deeply), she'll be OK in the end.  I'd say she worries about his safety, too, though.  The things he said before he left had a tone of finality that makes her suspect that he could end up doing something that could very well hurt or kill him.

He's already broken things twice in his attempts to fix them. I don't think there are any circumstances in existence that could make giving Corypheus the orb 'wise.'

Spoiler

It's not that he suddenly realized they would be enemies. It's that he realized if he went through with his plans, the relationship had to end. We're not sure he always did know that, he may have only come to the decision to go through with things after the Temple of Mythal. The screw up with the orb may have given him pause. It's clear throughout the entire relationship that Solas thinks it's a bad idea. He wants to but it isn't a good idea.

That may also be true. Yeah, Flemeth's line was ominous. Her line about the world being betrayed was interesting but I haven't seen much talk about it.

It's about the same with mine, I decided she'll be driven to try to find clues in his murals and in the Temple of Mythal (she can translate ancient elf now after all).

Really?  I never got that banter.  Interesting...  I guess it's uncommon but not impossible, if so.  I'd wonder if it was the ancient elves, but they seem to actually be more hairless.

Perhaps asking about how he wrote Solas's dialogue? He already talked a bit about it in the music blog post, but I think it'd be really cool to hear him elaborate on that.

And maybe a bit of a loaded question, but was it difficult for him to write Solas's romance? I mean, it sure was difficult to play. >.>

Also, technically not spoilery, but we might get a lot of mileage out of asking him how he approaches writing choice into the game.
