Well you managed to add a few pages for me to read while I was sleeping.

So I've been thinking...

 

Where do you think Solas' originates from?

He said he hailed from a small village, but said village is discovered to be century old ruins.

So I thought of two main options for this:

 

1. Solas' has indeed came from said village and he is under the same circumstances as Flemeth - either he found Fen'Harel in the fade or he was found himself in a desperate situation and called Fen'Harel. Now this seems a very unlikely answer. First thing first, for him to have found Fen'Harel in the fade would've meant Fen'Harel locked himself in with the other gods or something of that sort, so let's say Fen'Harel came to him. Now that we've settled that, we need to rethink the way we approach how he acts and who he is. Unlike Flemeth - Solas acts as if HE is Fen'Harel. Speaks of mistakes done by a young elf, seems to take it really personally when Morrigan tries to understand why Fen'Harel's statue is at the Temple... It doesn't seem like Solas is a host (unless he is a very passive host who is really connected Fen'Harel's spirit). So if we continue with this theory it means Fen'Harel took over the body of an elf. This seems wrong, Flemeth said that "A soul is not forced upon the unwilling", which means that the elf Solas was before just accepted losing his body? If so it must mean Fen'Harel must jump bodies, since, even though the village is centuries old, the elves of the time were not longer immortal, centuries =/= thousands of years. So if that's true it'll also must mean Solas didn't know the village was ruined, and that's why he said he hailed from there.

 

2. Solas was always Fen'Harel, there was never a 'mortal' Solas. He saw the village in his travels to the fade, or in one of his physical travels a long time ago and decided to use it as his background story. He didn't know, however, that the village was ruined.

 

3. Solas was always Fen'Harel + several accumulating centuries = thousands of years, in an assumption Leilana just guesstimated badly.

 

4. Solas was always Fen'Harel + the village was itself really old and was ruined some centuries after Solas' departure. He just wasn't aware of it. 

 

I lean towards 2 & 4.

I think he has always been Fen'Harel, and he was either telling the truth about hailing from the village, or it was somewhere that held some sort of meaning to him. He told Leliana it was unlikely to appear on any map, which I took as implying he knew it was long gone. I figure there has got to be some grain of truth in what he said; why lie about that of all things? It'd be so much simpler to just say some big, well known city, or say he left a Dalish clan.

So who else had a horrible thought of Lavellan getting a special staff made and calling it Solas, thus becoming another version of Varric and Bianca?  They can travel together cracking bittersweet jokes about their heartbreak *sobs*

 

I already did this by accident when my Lavellan crafted her first ever bow very early game in Haven. Named it "Fen'Harel" because he was my (not my Lavellan's) favorite elven "god". I'm always a fan of the more cunning tricksey types. You can just imagine how my brain and ovaries exploded during the reveal.

 

My Lavellan will definitely name her best crafted bow "Solas" in the next playthrough, and cry/get drunk/somberly reminisce with Varric about him.   Heartbreak bow buddies.

I've worn myself out from playing Inquisition, yet I still get on to replay Solas romance scenes... I'm hopeless.

And why all the Inquisitor casual clothes hate? I liked the way my characters looked in Skyhold...I've also only played female characters though *cough* someone needs to post a picture of these infamous male elf boobs.

Also, I appreciate all the shirtless Solas fan art. Although I'm a little disappointed by lack of Solas smexy time I understand why they left it up to the players. That does not change the fact that it completely unfair we don't get to see him almost in his birthday suit like we do Cullen, The Iron Bull and Dorian! I mean, at least in Origins I could pull off the clothing/armor of a companion *coughAlistaircoughZevran* why we no get to do that -.-

We don't actually know that.  The Dread Wolf could have kept slaves in the past.  And he may have found a better way to retain immortality or ... I don't know.  I was mostly interested in the other gods, because it has been thrown around quite a bit that the Dread Wolf is a bit of a wild card.  I'm not sure he should be the barometer we use to measure the other gods.  For instance, the only ancient priests we found were Mythal's and we know she's still kicking around so there is a connection between the two.  Perhaps a symbiotic type thing.  Where if Mythal continues then so do the people tied to her and possibly vice versa? 

 

I don't know.  I just think Zathrian is interesting and needs to be cross examined again now that we understand gods better. 

 

I don't know what is happening with the Dread Wolf, but I think it's something crazy awful.  Because the gods were never alone and that seems to be key.  I just don't understand how Dread Wolf and solitude tie together. 

 

I need to understand so I can be properly sad for Solas, dammit.

At around 5 or so in the AM I got to sleep and then wake up around 11AM. Between 11AM and 5AM, if I haven't been doing school related things...I am usually doing something that relates to Solas in some way, shape, or form. Even when I'm doing non-Solas related things I think about Solas related things. Between 5AM and 11AM, the time in which I am asleep, I sometimes dream of Solas related things. It's up to ya'll to interpret whether this is a joke or not.

Yeah, I'm pretty okay with the pajamas. I mean, if Solas is my favorite DAI character can I really complain about the Inquisitor's or anyone else's fashion sense?

 

Definitely wouldn't complain though if they released some other casual clothes options a la Mass Effect. Nothing wrong with a little variety. Although based on what I've seen of the cutscenes, we should prepare for many lols if any of the options involve skirts...

tehehe never imagined I would have so much fun playing "Solas". I was just testing some mods for male elf and decided to use Solas texture on my new elf male. Believe me when I see better than one Solas on screen is having two Solas on screen

 

Too bad Solas doesn't do  male LI otherwise we could have a greek tragedy here

There's only diffuse map on ur model as i see.

I am so incredibly worried about him. I really need to know if he's okay. 

 

My headcanon after the end of the game is that my Inquisitor immediately starts a search for Solas. Using Leli's spies, Josie's diplomats, and Cullen's soldiers. She even goes so far as to hire the Crows, just to cover all her bases. He looked way too heartbroken after that final battle and she's really worried about him as well.
