Oh no I don't mean it like that at all, sure they can speculate and if they read it like that then it's fine, we've done that lots of times too. It's just that there's been a lot of sadness assuming things and I'd feel pretty bad for the people who thought that "soon" meant they were going to get to romance the character that they wanted, but turned out not to. Not saying that they're just going to set themselves up to be disappointed but if it hasn't been confirmed by the devs yet I'm always a bit queasy about making assumptions, but I can't tell people how they should think (and I definitely don't want to do that) but that was just my opinion on that

Oh no, not at all. Unfortunately with all the announcement hype, I guess the focus is kind of a spin between hoping and despair. (honestly I just wish they would announce it all so we can move on, good or bad, grieve or cheer and talk then about other things) I know back in the thread was quite a bit of discussion of Solas as a friend.  

 

Personally, I think he will get along with non-mage characters just fine depending on how you role play your character. I think the choices in both action and dialogue will play a greater factor than class will. I also think this will be true with most characters. Anything specific will likely be a line or two. "As a fellow mage..." vs "Let me explain what I am talking about" type stuff. (Did that make sense? It is early here!)

 

I do know that LI or not, Solas will be in my party LOTS along with Cole/Varric and undecided warrior.

With all the romance hype it's what's the main piece of info that will come next. We already know he will be an awesome guy

If Solas had been the one that had gotten the "soon" I still wouldn't think any differently. "Soon" does not mean any kind of confirmation. It's just more teasing 

 

As for the focus on the romance, we just got a ton of information and hints dropped about it just yesterday so give us a break if we decide to discuss it. We talk about Solas beyond romance all the time but we just were given  a lot to talk about regarding romance. Makes sense that we would focus on it now.

Put Cole and Solas together and you get Colas.

I think there will be some small differences in how Solas talks to a mage vs. a rogue or warrior.  Solas might try to dispel some of the fear of demons and magic in general, but with a mage it might be more personal because he'd be teaching us to trust ourselves more, how to interact with/resist spirits, etc.  Things of that nature

 

I still plan on playing a mage first since it seems to trigger some extra conversations and character reactions (maybe I just like being insulted and feared? )

Went back several pages to figure out whats going on in the LI department. Why is everyone worried Solas wont be an LI? I mean so far in the list, Het females have NO companion LI.

Edit: just saw that there are 8 romances! so yeah, Im sure all will be fine ladies
