Sooo what Solas related merchandise do you think you guys would want eventually? His necklace? Tarot card prints? Creepy blow up dolls?
Necklace and a shirt with the hierophant card. And maybe a punching bag to work out some of the angrier feels.

A gloriously shiny faberge egg with Solas' murals painted on it.

They should sell a heartbreak repair kit: hot cocoa mix, a snuggie, a little Dorian doll to tell you that you deserve better...

All of the above! ![]()

I'll look for any excuse to post this Christmas decoration I'm lucky enough to own...

I would love a wolf jaw necklace or a small wolf jaw charm for my charm bracelet. Something small and subtle I could wear ![]()
I'm on PS4 and have had a silent time, until today. Suddenly loads of banter at once. This is while running around The Storm Coast and The Hinterlands (all before picking Mages or Templars) and I could not get Bull, Cass and Solas to shut up. One banter would stop and another would start. The rest of my game is going to be back to very quiet again at this rate
I think that we'll definitely see more of Solas; what I'm not so sure is that he will be Solas anymore or there will be much more than a bit of extra dialogue regarding his romance with Lavellan. (Ok I'm going to get me a Hot Cocoa of Pessimism now)
That would be a bit harsh, really. It may have always been written as a short, sweet, and ultimately ill-fated romance in the same vein as Thane, but to not have that relationship mean something going forward would be a bit of a let down. I'd also feel really bad for Solas as a character, because while it might be a case of our Lavellans really not being able to follow him or continue their romance it would hurt me for Solas. I agree with what someone said earlier - I worry for him more than any heartbreak my character could be stewing under. Not that she is. But whatever I feel for her, it's nothing compared to wanting to know what happens with Solas and wanting him to find peace that doesn't ultimately blow up in everyone's face. His most especially. My Lavellan would sorrow for Solas and not herself, because damn.
Or he might be a raving lunatic madman we have to stop in the future. I'd still want to give him one good hug and kiss goodbye first. If you have to give us tragedy and heartbreak, make it mean something. Touch our hearts and leave us fulfilled. Don't reduce it to a few words in passing or a note found in a DLC chest. Let the characters have their moment of peace and love and understanding between them before we shed our tears, if tears are necessary. It doesn't have to be a happily ever after to be a good ending, but let it be a good ending. Let it be something, dammit.
I doesn't make sense to me from a story-telling standpoint to reveal Solas the the dread wolf just to kill him immediately.
Whereas Flemeth...they've kind of run course with her. I dunno. Unless she suddenly went into villain-mode, it seems like the only interesting thing for her to do is to continue just showing up and saying things no one understands until 2 games later.
And if anyone has to go villain-mode, I'm more interesting in it being Solas (cries) because even though he was just in one game, I have more history with him cos he was a companion, and not some deus ex machina that kept showing up.

Oh, we're calling it mystery now?
"Do you love pain? Do you feel like walking on shards? Maybe you romanced Solas!"
I don't remember where I saw it, but someone said something similar on tumblr: Why romance Solas when hitting myself in the face with a brick is so much faster?
I'll just be over here with my bucket o' popcorn and optimism, giggling at the amusing misery of others nothing at all.

This. So much this.
TBH I think a lot of books, games, TV, what have you would be better if the creators figured out the beginning and the ending first. Then when you run out of resources or ideas, it happens in the middle and not at the very end. I slogged through the admittedly slow middle of DA:O and loved it despite the endless Deep Roads, because the beginning and end were so awesome.

Skip the Fade was the greatest DA: O mod in existence, IMO. I hated that place even more than the Deep Roads.

In the same vein, I actually really loved the Deep Roads. That Hespith-gut punch ending. Jesus. It was so bleak and upsetting and made me really hate Branka. Worth the slog, I thought. So make the trials and work mean something. Even if this romance ends in heartbreak, I just want there to be understanding. Solas deserves that much and so does the PC.
You're so right, specially in that last glorious paragraph. But looking at it from the devs point of view, making a different course of action or different dialogue for the fraction of players that did the romance... I really really hope they prove me wrong and I have to eat my words, and we get at least an extra scene. I hope they hear us and do justice to such a moving, well-written romance. That would be a bit harsh, really. Y'all are making me feel like I better just romance Cullen and forget about the egg because a happy ending is in no way possible!

No, no, banal nadas
We can hope for the best and brace the blanket fort for the worst.

I think when I (eventually) replay my canon Lavellan, I'm going to make her vallaslin darker. They were still visible, but they were pretty subtle, and I'd like their removal to be more dramatic.
Also, is it just me, or do most of our Lavellans have either June, Mythal, or Ghilan'nain for their vallaslin? I've hardly seen any with the crazy full-face Elgar'nan one.
I shamefully admit that I don't know the difference. Mythal is the only one I know from the fact that all the elves in her temple shared it. Does anyone know which vallaslin my Chesha had? Terribly curious. It'd help me with her headcanon background. Here she is:
I also sorta miss it now. But that moment when he removed it was just so pretty and romantic and wonderful. Absolutely worth it.
But because they're gone, I'm of mind that she might actually be too embarrassed to return to her clan, ever. How many of the hunters would take her blank face as a license to mock her as a child now? And who would believe her if she tells them what Solas told her? She's not a keeper or a first. She's just a hunter who always favored her ridiculously big sword over the typical archer fare. It makes the whole ordeal even more deliciously tragic, and it reinforces the feeling that there is only one place she'd feel like she belongs now.
With him. :C
I mean, who's gonna stand between him and the bad guys while he's casting spells now? He's just going to get interrupted by a critical hit. Silly Dread Wolfie. I think he should think this leaving Lavellan thing over again...
please... ; ;

I hope they throw us a bone and at least do something similar to those who romanced Liara or Morrigan in Lair of the Shadow Broker and Witch Hunt, respectively. Not everyone romanced either of those characters, but both those who romanced and didn't romance them got a decent story from those DLCs. Solas appears to have a rather large fanbase, maybe not to the size of Liara and Morrigan's, but it's still notable.

What I liked about both of those DLCs is how the content worked regardless of your relationship with the character. OK, maybe not Shadow Broker so much since no Shepard is apparently allowed to dislike Liara, but in Witch Hunt you could be Morrigan's bestie, lover, enemy, or even a generally indifferent Orlesian Warden, and the story worked. I didn't romance Liara or Morrigan, and I really enjoyed both DLCs. They also fleshed out more of the world and lore beyond those two characters.
Solas's Fade conversation and balcony conversation already pull double duty for the romance and the friendship route, so clearly BioWare is already capable of content that works for both.

I'm not 100% certain, but according to the Vallaslin tumblr, it looks like Falon'Din.

Those are of course just educated guesses, I don't think Bioware ever officially said which are which.

Echoing others: Keep Witch Hunt in mind - an entire DLC devoted to one character, with a strong amount of romance content and romance-specific ending. Also, Morrigan is a way more divisive character as her opinions are quite...more, erm, hard-lined...than Solas'. Solas seems to be generally well received and dat epilogue.
