I didn't feel like it was right to do so. Especially when Wrex and Eve are alive. Like I couldn't let me first Warden make Alistair do the Dark Ritual after Alistair dropped her. Sometimes the difficult decisions are satisfying too.
Just as long as I don't have to choose them all the time...and as long as they don't involve Solas

I just finished Wicked Hearts in my second playthrough. Now I have to finish Here Lies the Abyss.

Ugh, difficult decisions indeed. I have a fanfic fermenting in my brain at the moment - my poor practical Lavelllan has to deal with the consequences of drinking from the Well of Sorrows and with Solas' departure. I might have to finish Athine and Zev's tale before I can write it though, as I have no idea how it ends (canon or not). Practical Lavellan is definitely not happy Lavellan.
For the record, I always imagined Athine (my canon Mahariel Warden) and Zev being ushered into Uthenera by Fen'Harel in some remote location to awaken when the world needed them again.

I'm trying to get over my Solas addiction by starting the reading for next semester. Somehow The Political System of the European Union isn't doing a good job of keeping my attention. If only there was a grad program in Crafting Theories about Fictitious Elven Boyfriends
And I caved and ordered The Masked Empire today. Will spend the weekend combing for clues.

"I bet Solas knows a lot about old elvhen constellations, Lavellan always asks him to point them out to her at night, and their stargazing meetings are always filled with stories and laughs and tender elvhen phrases (the possibilities are endless)

I confess that I made a "throwaway Hawke" and moved my chess pieces so that Alistair will survive that mission 
I let my rogue Hawke die, as that fit her character - then it almost killed me when Varric was talking about telling Fenris.

My Hawke is married to Sebastian, and I do feel bad making him a widower. This is also the playthrough where my Warden died, so I feel like Hawke dying is fitting (tho my poor Cullen if the trend continues and my Inquisitor dies!). And she did turn out kind of ugly when I remade her....
Still not looking forward to it though.

My current playthrough...I am doing the same thing. I made a Hawke who romanced Anders...murderknife. She doesn't have much reason to continue on anymore.
All her own friends have made their own way.
Varric will be fine. He can handle anything. 
And Bethany won't miss her while she's busy doing mage things.

I killed off my canon Hawke too. My no-kidding, first playthrough, this-is-my-official-worldstate canon Hawke, who I wrote fanfiction for and speculated about for the years between DA2 and DA:I. And Warden!Alistair was romanced in my game too. I couldn't even bring myself to talk to Varric. I literally ran around the Keep, crafted, grew elfroot, waited for the freaking war table missions to finish, and stalled for over an hour before talking to him. I felt so, so awful.
Oh, and she romanced Anders. Christ, I have nothing to complain about when it comes to the Solas romance. I'm apparently the worst sort of video game masochist.
Maybe jello is right. Maybe he is only laughing at our broken hearts because he plans to pick up the pieces and put them back together. Laughing at us without such an intention...it's just too cruel, right? A man who cares about the fans of his work would not do such a horrible thing, right? Right?

I killed off my Hawke who was in a romance with Anders as well. I couldn't bring myself to kill Alistair, who is my Mahariel's love. I thought I was okay with that decision, until Varric went up and asked with a sad voice, "Where's Hawke?".
I swear it wasn't the death of Hawke but Varric's reaction to the whole thing that killed me. Then when we went back to Skyhold, I just had to talk to him and give him a hug...

LOL, in my canon DAO run my Mahariel warden was dumped by Alistair and it took 60k words of fanfic for her to end up with Zev, then canon Hawke (whose fanfic is started but unpublished) was certain she killed Fenris when he stood against her when she sided with the mages. In her fic Zev intervenes and saves mortally wounded Fenris, then gives him a lecture of growing up and getting over his broody angst. Eventually I do have Hawke and Fenris reconcile so it is even worse for canon Hawke to die. Doesn't bode well for canon Lavellan, does it?

TBH that hit me harder than Solas, because I was already spoiled and knew Solas had no endgame files, so there was no way that could end well. But I had no idea at all about Hawke, and Varric...I was yelling tearful apologies to him at my screen.

Solas = Has had lots of lovers cause he needed that part to be filled and then he gladly dumps them and ect... Harsh but i think thats his true nature. IMHO.
In my head Solas probably grew up as a weird kid in a small town (he pretty much says so). All the other elvehn "gods" were probably already in power by the time he was born. He just wanted to sleep and explore the fade and hated the waking life. It wasn't until he got older that he realized the power he had, and used his intelligence to get what he wanted. I assume the fade has the most valuable amount of knowledge and showed him ways to gain magical power in order to be a force in the political game that was the Elvehn empire.
Anyway so I think that when people call him weird and stuff now, it might actually hurt him in a way that he does not recognize but definitely feels.
Doesn't bode well for canon Lavellan, does it?

If you look at my video game track record I guess I just love tragedy and hate joy, but I honestly want a happy ending for Lavellan and Solas. Of all of my PCs, I feel like she deserves it the most. My Warden could be a little selfish, and my Hawke jumped down the slippery slope to Anti-Villain, but my Lavellan is a genuinely wonderful person, and she brings Solas so much happiness even in that short time..
