I don't think a Solas DLC is really comparable to Leliana's Song or Witch Hunt as the stinger gives enough reason for all inquisitors to want to track him down, what he's planning is big and important to the whole world.  

 

Leliana's song was just back story, I actually never bought Witch Hunt because I couldn't think of a single reason why my Warden would have any interest in tracking her down without Zevran.  She respected that Morrigan had left and that was that.  They're really quite inconsequential in comparison to what's hinted at with Solas.

 

I'm sad that there's a lot of pessimism about the chances of anything like a happy ending,  I'm not going to be a very happy bunny if Solas' fate is set in stone,  I had my fill of that in ME3 and will be very disappointed if female players have to yet again bear the brunt of the forced outcomes... cut us a break Bioware  please??

 

This is what I'm leaning my faith on, this is brings me lots of optimism because I know lots of people went "WTF" on that part (+ the friggin' "I can't tell you its' spoilers!" from Weekes on almost every Solas related question).

And it'd be really stupid and weird for them not to address the romance at all if he does appear in the DLC..

 

I really want a happy ending but I'll be really happy with any ending, even if that ending gives my Lavellan a reason to hate him.

I don't like the idea that his fate is set in stone as well, the player had no choice in whether he leaves or not. Solas' story robbed us from a lot of our agency, maybe in the future our actions will affect Solas' decisions. In my first DA2 PT I didn't kill Anders because he my Hawke's LI, but yeesh, I was so pissed off at him. In my second & third PTs with Fenris as a LI I killed him, but I felt horrible XD. It was a really tough decision, but atleast I had one!

In my first DA2 PT I didn't kill Anders because he my Hawke's LI, but yeesh, I was so pissed off at him. In my second & third PTs with Fenris as a LI I killed him, but I felt horrible XD. It was a really tough decision, but atleast I had one!

 

This is why I love the Anders romance, despite how much of a trainwreck it becomes.  Hawke is allowed to try.  IMO DA2 did a great job of this despite the plot events being largely on railroad tracks.  You can try to save Anders, to stop Meredith before things go too far, to solve the qunari conflict.  It doesn't work, but the fact that the game allowed you to try anyway and fail IMO made for very interesting roleplaying, and really punched me in the feels.

 

If we can't get a happy ending for Solas and Lavellan, I'd like BioWare to at least let us attempt one, even if it fails.  I'd rather have more control over how my character behaves and reacts, even if the ending is a foregone conclusion.

Not to mention that you only get locked in to Solas' romance the moment he breaks it off. Which still puzzles, and mildly frustrates me.

 

Why not lock it in at the scene on the balcony? That seems more logical. Nope, it turns out if you are committed and don't break it off first, you get locked into the relationship the moment it's over. Thanks.

 

I dunno, maybe that's the same for all the romances, that it locks in at the last scene with the LI.

 

That is actually what I pondering about quite a while.

After the balcony scene I was expecting to see his Tarot change but it didn't, I was really surprised since he began calling her in affectionate names (even though she could still flirt with others!), there was also party banter afterwards, asking about their relationship.. And that one conversation with Sera I'll never be able to forget ("ELVEN GLORY!").

It's like - you are allowed to get out at any time (since this obviously will end badly) but maybe if you stick 'till the end you'll get rewarded?

Blackwall, for example, was nothing like that. After a couple of flirting you couldn't really flirt with a lot of the other characters, and after some more flirting most of the characters and if you'd want - you'd have to break up with him first.

After reading theories about Solas, I have no idea why most people assume that he GAVE Corypheus the orb. It can be easily explain that Corypheus STOLE that orb from Fen'Harel's tomb or santuary and disturbed the god from his slumber. After he awoke Solas wanted to get his orb back but he was too weak (he IS weak at the beginning of the game XD) so he had to seek help from the Inquisition. If Solas really wished to use Corypheus' power to unleash the orb then why bother stay with the Inquisition, he can just go to Corypheus' side and instruct him how to use the orb. He wanted to stay to undo his mistake of letting the orb fall to the wrong hands. We can see in the quest "In hushed whispers", the future Solas doesn't "switch side" either after the Inquisitor "died", he STAYS. That would mean to he is really dedicated in fixing his mistake. He used the Inquisitor, that's the truth but Solas was not pure evil, his purpose was good but he can not reveal who he really was so he lied. And I think he doesn't want to get too involved with the Inquisitor either, he wants his orb and get the f*** outta here but unfortunately for him, we players do not let him go that easy XD

If the theories about him trying to resurrect the Elven Empire are true, she'd actively stand in his way. She'd also take him to task for thinking he could just overthrow a government, leave slaves in charge, take a nap, and wake up to a new glorious ELVEN EMPIRE.

Solas doesn't realize Corypheus is still alive until In Your Heart Shall Burn. He also thinks that the orb (or relic, at the point he mentions it) is out there, waiting to be found. My guess is that he wants nothing to do with Corypheus once he finds out what his plans actually are, and how powerful he has grown due to his connection to the Blight. They don't want the same thing, and I don't think Solas is powerful enough on his own to take down Corypheus and his minions and his dragon. He needs the Inquisitor/Inquisition to clear a path to the orb.

Solas might have let (i think more 'allowed') Corypheus take the orb thinking that he would be able to take it back/manipulate events in the future. It's hard to figure the reasoning personally as we don't have all the information yet.

Or maybe it'll be more dramatic and he'll just turn into a giant, multi-eyed wolf. I assume he has some sort of wolf transformation like Mythal had her dragon one.

 

 Hahaha now you made me imagine Sailor Moon transformation revelation scene. "Oh no if I don't transform now we will all die oh well I guess I don't have a choice".

As about lyrium idol thingie theory... honestly looks way too far-fetched. Makes me think of ill-fated relationship between an owl and a globe     (russian-speaking people will probably recognize the metaphor lol)

"I was too weak to unlock it after my slumber" is what he says. Meaning, he wanted Corypheus to unlock it. Then Cory decided to use it to become a god and then this and that happened and BOOM! Sky vagina happens. Solas is sad about it, though.

I find the Idol/Flemythal/Solas to be interesting, it would be great if they had planned that far ahead in DA2. If it is Andraste, who is the other person?

Haha well I can go with it. I think the idol looks way too similar to Flemeth/Solas to be a coincidence. So somehow the dwarves must be involved in all this too...

I think there are two more figures next to the woman in the idol, maybe Maferath and the Maker? Maybe some followers?

Yeah anything goes I guess. I can see more than two people too, so it's a stretch, but it would be a fun thing to be able to do, go through the previous games looking for clues. I know I am crazy, I take pictures of all murals and statues I find interesting along with codex entries that might be relevant. Talk about desperate for clues.

I do think it's plausible that Bioware didn't want to reuse the old desire demon model, but that doesn't necessarily mean we won't see desire demons again. It might just be that they wanted to show off other kinds of demons, and didn't want to bother redesigning the desire demon for DAI.

 

As I said, I think the desire demon presents a unique visual problem because you'd expect them to look, well, desirable. "Scantily clad pink lady" just doesn't send a universal message, and it also gives the impression that desire demons are all about luring people with sex, which - as you point out - they're really not. Nobody of any gender or preference is safe from desire demons! And I think their design should reflect that.

 

I got a good idea for a desire demon model!

I think all this is a lot of fun and the writers are probably happy about it. I mean the whole thing has the fandom on its feet, revisiting everything, sharing theories, bonding, solving this giant puzzle... and we all seem to enjoy it so far  

 

I wasn't hoping for anything like that, and I think Bioware did a fantastic job in bringing us a game that pulls us in so deep even after finishing it. To me it means the universe they created is solid and fascinating, and I really hope everyone involved in creating this knows how much this is appreciated! I'd give the whole team high fives if I could. DA:I is so much fun, it spurs my creativity, fills me with ideas and led me to a kind community.
