I'm pretty sure once it's time to announce the LI's and Solas is one of them my heart will burst out of my chest and fly out the window. How does a video game character make me feel this much when I haven't even met him yet!? The thought of Solas and Viv being the 2 remaining LI's after IB seems like a very good possibility to me, wouldn't that even the odds of male and female LI's?

I think so, because then we'd have Sera, Cass, Josephine and Viv for the ladies, and Dorian, IB, Cullen and Solas for the men...unless I'm forgetting someone

The way Cameron said that Solas spends his time pondering the Fade coupled with Mike Laidlaw saying Some companions just don't have time for your business makes me think Solas is not a LI.

 

That could be taken as true for any of the companions left, really. Blackwall has his duty as a Warden, or whatever it is he feels that duty is to by the time he's with the Inquisition. Vivienne has her own agenda and so forth. Varric has his past love, whatever that may mean.  They each have their little things that may keep them out of the running. Solas isn't unique in that as far as speculation goes.

I don't think the devs are looking into evenly distributing the romances so it is likely that three males could be the remaining LI. Guess we will have to wait and see.

My games will stay pre-ordered regardless of romance options.  (that's not a random statement, I swear it's a response to another post I just can't quote right now )

I'm still optimistic about a Solas romance, at least so long as you are an elf.   There are 8 romances but 2 are race gated for "story" reasons.   

 

Whilst Dorian could be anti-Qunari and Sera anti-anything but elf it seems highly unlikely that they are going to be restricted in that way because having introduced their first gay characters it would seem strange to restrict them on the basis of race.  

 

Iron Bull might be restricted to humans and qunari because of the comments about breakable partners and he might view elves as too fragile or dwarves as too small.   However, it seems hard coming up with a story reason why most of the other potential characters would be race restricted, apart from Solas.  I have previously pointed out that they are making us Dalish and if you play it true to type, they would be prejudiced against a non elven romance, which means that a male Dalish or straight female Dalish would have no romance.

 

Vivienne and Cullen come from the Circles where race is not an issue - there are no dwarves because they don't do magic not because there is any racial prejudice against them.   Have never seen a qunari in the Circles up to now but that is not to say there may not have been Vashoth mages in the northern Circles. 

I don't think there would be a good reason for Cassandra to be prejudiced against any particular race.   Blackwall comes from the Grey Wardens, who again accept anyone without prejudice.  I suppose Josephine could be prejudiced against elves or qunari (being a noble) but coming as she does from Antiva, that again seems unlikely.   If Varric is a romance then I suppose he could be restricted to dwarves but the question would be, why?    Cole is not a romance and it appears to have been clarified that the "unknown" romance/flirt option  is not included in the above figure.  

 

So by a process of elimination Solas would be the most likely candidate for a race gated romance for "story" reasons.

Seriously, if the male options are Dorian, Solas, Cullen and IB I'm going to run through all of them at least once. This is a list I can get behind so much!

Yeah, as heartbroken as I will be, if necessary my Femquiz will just stay single and pine after Cassandra and Solas while 'Someone Like You' plays softly in the distance   After all, I went into Origins, DA2 and Mass Effect with no clue who I would romance, so we could all be pleasantly surprised even if the worst happens.

I remember someone quoted something where at a panel Mike Laidlaw was asked if Varric was romanceable and he said "You can romance Cullen?" That seems like a conciliatory statement. I think Varric is out of the running.

I could see Vivienne (worried about propriety, not sentimental) or Cullen (calls Qunari heathens, but maybe just those following the Qun) being race gated.  For some reason I don't think Solas would be (since he doesn't see things in black and white), but these are all just hunches.
