If we accept that the anchor may be allowing Lavellan access to not just the Fade, but a range of possible worlds including that of the world outside of the game, then Solas may have willingly invoked the spirit of the player into Lavellan. Whether his intentions were purely to keep the power of the anchor intact, or as a happy coincidence in simultaneously saving a life is another matter. He later seems surprised at his own success.

When Solas seems amused in meeting you (in contrast to his demeanour for the rest of the game) it is perhaps not entirely due to you simply being alive (and his orb power intact). He smiles as he greets you as another player.

My god. I completely overlooked his "pre game" role. That is amazing.

We are insane, no doubt, but there is comfort in this madness. It even gives us some wiggle room in terms of character consistency and how eagerly he reciprocates in the early relationship. Suddenly there's no troubling power imbalance at all. She is real in a way no one else in Thedas is- they are already equals. Lavellan may not realize it, but he does.

A few pieces (localised to Solas) feel like they fall into place (but forgive me if this has been mentioned, we are moving fast!) When we meet Varric he tells you that Solas kept the mark from killing you while you slept after the events of the conclave. What if the method of Solas keeping you alive involved something he had not even been sure was possible – had only theorised?

 

In the later conversation between Cole and Solas, in reference to Lavellan, Cole mentions how she is now “real”, “but she can’t be, because that means that everyone else could be real, too”. What if the method of keeping Lavellan alive involved doing something to her which altered her in order to be more like him? More “real” to him?

A handful of subsequent moments, like the one on the balcony where he asks “Has it changed you? Your mind, your morals, your…  spirit?” suggest that he wants you to know that he knows that you are more than what you appear to be to everyone else there in Skyhold.

 

This also may support the repeating occurrence of mythical characters who change names when they desire to, or shed a name when the meaning of it no longer applies (as Solas suggests to Abelas, and as we know he himself has done in the past). It is akin to naming an avatar - starting a new identity in order to perfect those scores you didn’t quite get right when you played as the last one.

 

So, a slightly eerie thought: How long has Solas been playing this world of Thedas alongside you? How many times have you unknowingly crossed paths?

I have Solas in the Warden armor in my current play through. He looks so hot when you see him from the front, kinda weird from the back. He'll stay in it tho, it's a meta punishment.

Since my last post on the dwarf false start, I am trying to start another Lavellan playthrough to try choices I didn't make with Chesha. But doggone it I want the same face, and I just can't for the life of me make her again. It is infuriating. I think I got it close, then I step out into the light and wtfins. I've decided to name the new Lavellan (if I can get her face right) Tiger Festival as a shout out to another favorite game series of mine. I imagine Solas asking her if that's her real name. I also imagine her asking him if his is really Solas. >:3

 

That's right, Wolfie. You're not the only one who can play with a Pseudonym.

 

What I wouldn't give for face codes or a black emporium right about now...

I do not like this passed-tense nonsense, same with the not letting "someone he cared for" walk his path (from the convo with Cole post-Coryphish).

I'm a bit confused on the permanent until death thing. Is that implying that it can be recovered after the inquisitor dies? Or would it just completely cease to be upon their death? If the former, it makes no sense then that Corypheus wouldn't just kill them right away, rather than do a speech about starting over and not letting an unknown rival live.

 

I was wondering about that as well, but let's just pretend that after he fails to take the anchor that he is about to kill Inqi and that that plan got foiled once a mountain came on top of them.

Nah... I get the feeling people are just saving their goodies goodies for page 1500. Drabbles, songs, and on the fly fanarts, stuffs like that for page 1500. See, we're kinda slowing down a little already as they wait in anticipation to blow their good stuffs on page 1500.... or maybe that's just people dropping off to sleep. But what the hell, this is Friday night over US right? It's Saturday afternoon where I'm at. You guys have time. Why go to sleep before 3am on Sat morning?

I think I decided what's the best thing I can do with my Lavellan's playthrough.

I don't to get to the final battle because of Solas so I think I'll turn this playthrough's purpose to creting him the perfect customized armor!

I'm going to have to force myself to go through the ending, just to record video clips XD.  Then I'll go back and keep Solas, making excuses to not confront Corypheus until there's ever any news of a Solas DLC.

I interpreted that statement as his way of wanting her to know that she wasn't deceived by him -- especially since that is what he's known for; deception.  She's going to find out (hopefully in a DLC!) & he seems to know it...  **wishful willing**

I didn't see this until my second play through (like an idiot, I thought taking my more "presentable" companions would improve the nobles' opinions of me, so I took Vivienne, Dorian and Cassandra to the ball on my first run). Second play through was a Trevelyan, and I just about dropped dead when he almost hissed this line at her.

 

...I think that's the point at which I gave up on my Cullenmance and went straight back to Lavellan.
