It's a beautiful addiction.
These are so precious.

This is even more beautiful than Solas addiction. Has anyone posted this one yet?

Surfing around the forums I realise how much I missed on my first run through, not just because I went for the end a bit prematurely but because of the bugs and blips that meant I wasn't talking to people at the right time and companions that I had put together purely so could hear their conversations, while I went hunting for elfroot, either didn't talk or waited until we were about to be attacked by random bears or wolves. (I got to thinking, "if I see another frigging bear!") Also, I have totally missed out in not taking Solas to the ball - what was I thinking?
I tried starting the game again from scratch last night with a different character and I just can't do it. I'll just be going through the motions and in any case I want to experience the whole game the first time with Solas. So I'll have to go back, virtually to the beginning now the various patches are in place, and start over with my Lavellan girl, making sure I take Solas with me everywhere. The thing is there is a bit of a problem with the mages quest because my girl is a mage and I seem to recall that there is a need for both a warrior (to bash stuff) and a rogue (to open doors) on this quest and with Dorian being a required companion, there is no room for Solas. Will I miss much?
Anyway I imagine that even with the next 2 weeks off I'll still be plugging on well into January. See you then.

Oh I love this! It reminds me of the old days!
Stuff like this makes me want to commission art for my Lavellan and Solas, even though I haven't done that in years. The tenderness in his eyes as he looks at her...so many feels...

Okay, about the Mage quest ... I always take Solas, because ... well reasons. You don't need a rogue and a warrior. You only need one or the other. If I recall there is only one room that absolutely requires you to break into it and you can either smash the wall or pick the lock. Actually, sorry I'm sitting here thinking, I think there is only one door that doesn't have a back door entrance to it and that requires a rogue. However I would drag a tank with me for aggro pull.
I do strongly recommend taking Solas because he's just so ... desperate.
No, I haven't played this game a billion times ... why do you ask? lol ![]()
Solas romance:

I had a three mage party for that and it wasn't so bad. The lockpicking/bashing isn't a hundred percent necessary, I don't think. My other party member was Blackwall, so the lockpicking is what I missed, so I could be wrong about how necessary wall bashing is.
You'll miss red lyrium!Solas being noble. Also suffering and dying, so if you don't like seeing him hurt, it's just as well that you skip bringing him.

Pro tip: warriors with shield bash can actually break through doors that rogues are able to pick. I felt a bit cheated when I discovered this. Just line em up and hit shield bash and you're golden - suddenly there's room for three mages! NB: this doesn't work on masterwork locks iirc, but there are none of those to worry about on the Redcliffe quest.
Tower is generally unnerving. But Mutatsu the monk and Shu the middle school student turned out okay.
We just have to max out the Solas social link when DLC or something comes out and it should be fine...

This is why I'm glad my canon Lavellan did Therinfall. The Envy demon sent her into a minor heroic BSOD, but it would have been so much worse if she'd had to watch Solas suffer and die for her. She was already falling in love with him before Skyhold.
Until the Inquisitor or Solas becomes the Great Seal or some heartbreaking nonsense. :/
...
We'll say it's a Persona 4 Social Link. No main characters or LIs die in Persona 4. Or fall into comas after being shot in the pocket watch.
I do always fall for the tragic ones. If that one wasn't bad enough...
Solas would probably be closer to Ryoji considering both of their situations...I need to stop right now and join Team Positive.

Oh wow. This is.... Amazing.
The feels!
By the way, did anyone notice that when exploring Emerald Graves there will be some soft melody that gets played from time to time?
The same one that gets played when Solas removes the vallaslin?
I really love the Emerald Graves, it's quite beautiful, and my Lavellan feels connected to the place, but ugh. It tears my heart apart.
I dragged Solas, Sera and Cassandra through Thedas for hours yesterday in hopes of getting their romance banters, but no luck :-( I do get occasional banters (maybe 1 per half hour, if I am lucky), but not these. Does anyone have a recording of the perfume banter with Cassandra? I would so love to hear it!

my heart plummets to depths not reached since the fall of Arlathan...
I love this phrase. ![]()
Yup, whenever it plays I stop whatever I'm doing, and I listen while my heart plummets to depths not reached since the fall of Arlathan...
Ir abelas, Lethallan.
Noooooooooooooo now I'm speaking Elven like an prepubescent anime fan speaks Japanese.
'Ello guys. Been some time since I posted here.
I just finished the Adamant/Fade mission with Solas in my party. Nightmare talks to him in ancient elvish when he taunts all of your companions. What I noticed is that when he adresses him Solas isn't spelled with the capital. After doing some research(read:went to wikia) I found out that solas actually means pride. Wonderful, isn't it?
Anyway, that's the only part I could decipher. What do you think Nightmare was telling him?
P.S. That art is lovely!

Psht
I learned Quenya (Tolkien's high Elvish) back in middle school when I was obsessed with Lord of the Rings. Embrace the obsession, lethallan! We can all drown together in the ocean of Solas-induced tears.
I have something of a dilemma. I can run the risk of page 1500 coming and going while I sleep...or I can present my offering to the Solas thread approx. 5 pages early.
Is it better to be early or late, Solasmancers?

I like the Therinfall quest better (also Cole sooner!) but I can't justify going to the templars instead of the mages for a character who doesn't hate mages. Only Cullen was saying that the templars could help and he had a pretty obvious bias. Everyone else was all "we need mages."
Both quests are pretty damn traumatic for the Inquisitor though. Poor Inquisitor.

There are a couple of translations going around. It's partially translated in the FAQ in the first post of this thread too. The first part is something like "speak, trickster" and the rest is something about pride and victory.
