I could never see a romance dialogue with Varric without it feeling awkward (he's not a very romantically written character - more bromancey). BUT I AM STILL STUMPED.

 

Thats what it is! Couldn't put words to the vibes I get from him that make me believe he isn't a romance. As charming as Varric is, theres just the fact I couldn't actually see him being an option because he really is too much of a bro. Maybe thats just because of the way he is with companions in DA2, so maybe we're wrong, but stll, whenever I try to picture it, it doesn't work

Varric confuses me as well, but the fact that Cullen is a LI gives me hope that he's not a LI (I don't mean that the way it sounds, haha -- I'm a big Varric fan and would technically love him to be a LI, but Solas comes first  ).  Would the devs make two fan faves LIs? Yeah, if they included him because of his vocal fan following they probably would've made him bi while they were at it >.<  I'm still sad for his male fans.

I would say that Vivienne is one of the race-gated LIs, IB is the second, and Varric is not romanceable. Which would leave us with a coin toss between Solas and Blackwall for the final slot.

mi heart is breaking in two: I love Varric, and I've been waiting so long to have a romance with him...he was one of the reasons I can play DA2.

At the same time...Solas is...Solas!!! from the little we know about him, I really like him! is a king of romancable character (the intelligent nerdy) we never had.

This wave of depressing, depressed posts is precisely why I didn't want people to be too hopeful... I love the positivity in the thread but I hate all this sadface-ing.

 

Now, with the new news about the romance spots (the outsider is only a flirt), Solas has pretty good chances.  Still, I won't recommend counting on it because Varric has been mentioned more than once during discussions of romance.  Then the devs would kind of backtrack and say that he could be bromanced... So I'm not sure at all.  The downside is it sounds like Iron Bull will be race gated, and if Varric is an LI, he will also be race gated.  Would both race gated LIs be men?  They did say things might not be fair, but that would be the very definition of unfair.

 

And yet, as another poster stated, Solas may be too busy (or too distracted) to be romanced.

Yea I think it would be best if we talked about something else other than Solas' romance possibilities. A lot of threads are making this their central topic. Come on everyone let's talk about other things about Solas like if he will be respected by all of the other companions.

I'm glad to hear we got clarification about the 8 LIs. But I also hope they will end this soon. It seems more people are bothered by the uncertainty more than missing out.
