I'm kinda scared at how much I feel like a lack of Solas would ruin everything for me in the future... That's not something that I was ever concerned about before.

I just had a brief conversation with a friend that isn't interested in Solas, whatsoever and he just beat the game -- I asked him, what he thought about the ending and Solas... and he says something along these lines... "Oh, my elven manservant? He better get back to my castle and finish my mural." >_<
Ughhhh!!!! (i'm super behind and still catching up on this thread!)
I have a friend like this too! He's not extremely far into the game, and i'm like SO HOW IS SOLAS? and he's like, Oh, he stays behind and does my laundry. Whaaat??

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll never play a female character again in DA if they don't give us a satisfying ending for Solas.
There just comes a point where you just have to say "screw it, I've been dumped on enough by this company".

If they could do it for the Witch Hunt DLC they could do it for this upcoming DLC. I think everyone, regardless of whether they romanced Solas, would like to know what the heck is going on with him and how it fits into the whole game's plot. You kind of think you know what's going on until that end scene, and then you realize you have no idea what was going on. My boyfriend insists that a DLC won't answer any questions, because he swears they never do. In his opinion, we're most likely to get a new area, a bunch of new and temporary companions to go with it, and some cryptic codexes that involve Solas but we'll be unlikely to see him.
God I hope he's wrong...
It's true they like being cryptic but they did start solving this mystery (of what really happened to the elves), even though they indeed don't gives answers to a lot of things, they've given to many others.
Also, I don't think we'll get a bunch of temp companions, that just forces them to invest in new characters that are good enough so people will still like them, if they fail they'll ****** people off (I only liked Anders in awakening [and mainly because of the cat dialogs], it all felt quite dull compared to DAO companions, I'm not sure what is the stance of other people on that extension, but people like cameos of characters they already connected with). Yes, it can be like Awakening but I think they won't tread that path since people will get really disappointed, and when people are disappointed = less DLC purchases = less money. If they want to keep that mystery to the next game then it's another thing, but since I believe the Inquisitor and Solas were meant to meet each other again (and I think he might need the power of the anchor) I believe there would be a DLC (and that, hopefully, they won't meet in the next game with a different protagonist o_o).
I reallllly hope I'm still using my logic and that it makes sense for a DLC to be planned (I don't trust myself, today I woke up from a dream about the announcement of the DLC [in which Morrigan will also appear for some unexplained reason]).
They listen to their customers after all, so they won't do anything stupid. Right?
Right?

I don't know if this has been said already, but maybe the Forgotten Ones were actually the first slaves of the Creators. They eventually got so powerful that they broke free, but because of their resentment of the Creators they spend their time warring against them. Solas might have been born to hehe Mythal and her lover (who is a Forgotten One). That's why he can walk between the two sides because he understands both perspectives. However, Elgar'nan eventually found out that he was not Solas' dad and being the god of vengeance, he had to take his revenge. So he got the other Creators together and killed Mythal. The Forgotten Ones decided to war even harder against the Creators because Mythal's lover was angry about her death. This war caused a lot of chaos for the common elves. Eventually, Solas decided to trick both sides and sealed them both away in hopes that it would bring some peace to the land. He probably saw friends as untrustworthy because he did not expect the other Creators to take Elgar'nan's side and help him out.
Edit: Although that doesn't explain why Flemeth called Solas "old friend" instead of "my son." Maybe it's because Flemeth was speaking from her perspective and not Mythal's perspective.

Interesting theory, I don't think Fen'Harel is Mythal's son but the Forgotten Ones being slaves who became powerful in their own right and rebelled is full of possibilities.

Maybe Elgar'nan was also angry because Mythal actually fell in love with one of his slaves and she had a hand in helping them become powerful enough to rebel against the Creators.

According to an interview with Mike Laidlaw Mark Darrah, new areas to explore are very likely. I'm not sure about temporary companions but that may be necessary, since some people may have never recruited or driven away quite a few companions.
If the DLC is meant to be played after the end of the game we'll probably see some mention of Solas at least. If it can be played at any point, there may be cryptic codex entries instead of anything that actually furthers the plot.

Hm... then they'd have to give the player the option of re-recruiting the Inquisition companions. Remember, it's possible to end the game with just Varric available.

That's an interesting theory. I assumed that when Solas talks about his 'people', he means the elves in general, but he never seems to enjoy being associated with the Dalish or city elves.
Also, this banter between Solas and Cole bugs me: "They sleep, masked in a mirror, hiding, hurting, and to wake them..."
If these are the old elven gods, why are they hiding and hurting and not angry and trying to break out? Maybe this makes more sense as the Forgotten Ones forced into uthenera?

He's so well written, not having him is like having a protagonist you don't feel connected to, he's become essential for me :/
I hope this'll pass with time.

That is true, that can happen. I forgot about that part.
If they bring temps to cover for that then they should atleast allow old companions as well.

What interview?
Also it's Mark Darrah, not Mike Laidlaw. Oops.
http://www.destructo...ii-280921.phtml
Specifically, this part:
'Of course, I had to bring up DLC at some point. People are rightfully wary of EA's influence, and Darrah noted that they are going to mostly going to listen to fan demand to shape post-game support. Although he wasn't able to confirm anything, DLC will likely be comprised of sandboxes -- large new areas that players can wander around and complete a main quest in, but also find sidequests for. There isn't going to be another expansion like Awakening though, sadly. Darrah said that it was "far too much work, and very expensive, as everything has to interact with the original game."'

It's open to interpretation at this point.
General consensus is that he does love the Inquisitor.

Maybe a little of both? I think he did it initially to control the Quizzy, got distracted by love, and changed his plans for her.
