For those of you who make animated .gif files... what do you use? I have all of these videos on my computer that I'd like to cut up into .gif stuff and I have no idea if I need a specific software for it and if so what software that would be (you'd think Google would have helped but it didn't because I am a hopeless 24-year-old luddite apparently)

I use Photoshop CS5. Or if I can't use CS5 directly, I use KMPlayer to capture frames and then turn it into a gif in a slightly more time consuming way... using CS5.

 

Basically... Photoshop! XD

Edit: Yeah, Cullen does but he gets naked in the game so that makes sense! Solas sadly never does.

Err.. Not what I expected. I was lazy and didn't edit all the files i should so game engine got a it confused

No worries, feel free to share your thoughts! Newbies are always welcome. If it seems like you got shot down hard, it's only because, for regulars here, there are things that we decided were fact a while ago so I think some people are thrown off when it's brought back up. Technically we don't really know that much and those theories about "Solas" being a vessel for the Dread Wolf could still be true. Most of us just doubt it!

This is probably the friendliest thread on these forums.  I don't want to jinx it, but I have yet to see any animosity or negativity.  Sometimes there is difference of opinion.  But everyone seems to have enough respect to let stuff go when it's just not reaching common ground.  I have been a silent forum lurker (here and other places) for years because well the internet just isn't very friendly anymore.  It's been awesome in here, and it's gotten me back into participating.  Also, welcome to the Solas Recovery Wing!

He's kinda ashamed of them so he hid them in the basement or something.

Solas starting off as "just an elf" doesn't automatically mean he wasn't always Fen'Harel. It would just mean that he wasn't always a "god".

 

Also, I thought the random "never trust half an elf" comment Cole makes was just one of the numerous references he makes to other media, or in the context of DA, a reference to someone being elf-blooded. Since that's all there is to that line (I don't think it's part of an actual banter that could provide context), there's nothing actually connecting that dialogue to Solas.

I was pretty sure Cole was referring to Michel de Chevin at that point... Michel is not a very trustworthy person, in my opinion.  Cole didn't think so either.

 

Of course Alistair is also half elf (technically at least), and... well, he's pretty trustworthy.  Except for that whole dumping you like garbage if you aren't a human noble and didn't harden him.

Ah, sorry. If you were talking about theories where Solas is a vessel like Flemeth, and not where Solas was just a regular elf who later became a god, then I misunderstood you earlier. Theories where Solas is a regular elf that's possessed and/or merged with Fen'Harel are just as valid as anything else at this point.

 

A lot of us are running off the assumption that he's the original Fen'Harel though (whether or not he and the other Elven pantheon were gods at the beginning of their lives or not is also still up for debate), since we know from the epilogue that he was apparently in uthenera for so long that he was too weak to power up his own foci. The knowledge of how to enter uthenera was lost when Arlathan fell, but one could assume that someone possessed by an Elven god would be given that knowledge, which in turn means the fact that he was in uthenera can't be used to rule out the Solas-as-a-vessel theory.

This could explain a lot. However, I thought halflings look human.....Solas definitely looks elven with a few anomalies. He favors the the Ancient sentinels, who all appear to be bald, they also appear to be taller, and their frames ,while still lithe, are much boarder.

It's easy to miss/forget, that the point in time where you hear Cole talk to Solas, post-campaign, is (at least) one month after the final battle. Because all your other companions will talk to you about who was elected Divine, which the epilogue cards say happened one month after the battle. 

 

Which gives Solas plenty of time to go meet Flemeth, before Cole would have that conversation with him. 

 

Ah, I thought it was right after, thank you!  Good, so we do know pretty much for sure that he's the same Solas (more or less).

I know that Solas and Lavellan's relationship was mostly private, but I kind of wish that more people would comment on it.  I saw that Dorian would comment on Cullen's relationship, and says "I see you have a thing for strapping young templars... it's just something I find adorable about you." (Awww...) It would be cute if he had something to say about Solas, lol.

I mean half an elf in spirit not body, the other half being this god. I thought that maybe there could be an internal struggle between the two about his romance. I have to admit though, i dont know enough about the history to debate all this correctly.
