I do not think that the elves losing their immortality has anything to do with their proximity to humans. I believe it has more to do with the veil. For all we know the veil could have been created when the dread wolf sealed away everyone, but I will point out there is a loop hole here. Because the Ancient elves at the Temple of Mythal were still immortal or at least seemed to not be aging.

I think you're right though. Solas is terrified because he is about to bring this world to ruin so that he can make everyone "complete" again. I don't know if that will kill everyone, but the consequences will be staggering. I think if he had not met the quizzy and realized that the people here possess the ability to be "complete" then he would not have set himself on this path. Btw I'm speaking in broad strokes about every quizzy including the ones he hates.
In this part here I like to rely on Sandal's prophecy
"One day the magic will come back - all of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see."
It doesn't sound like death and suffering to all, it sounds more like making everyone whole again as said somewhere on this thread, but the consequences is what we need to be afraid of & probably the reason he doesn't share his goals. It could cause mayhem, it could bring destruction - not as a direct result to what Solas plans to do but as an indirect result.

God, he looks so handsome here!
Wish he wore that at Halamshiral instead of the red one with the hat. xD (Don't hide your beautiful bald head Solas.)
Pity I couldn't use these mods though. (PS3 user) ![]()

Damn, that's the look that chills my blood. It's calculating and devious and all of the things that Fen'harel is supposed to be. I mean I love it, naturally, but it makes me fear for Lavellan. Of course it also makes him the most interesting man in Thedas. Argh ... what are your motivations, Solas! *shakes fist*

And this one
I love that look. He's all like, "No, you aren't going to cause all the trouble and inner turmoil without some serious makeouts."

Yay! But not necessarily yay, because the way modding works right now has the potential to bork your game horribly. D:
Also, I just want to reiterate how happy I am that Solas doesn't seem to have that kinda strange, super skinny body male Lavellans have.
I just made a male Lavellan to romance Dorian (for a second time, because I love Dorian's romance almost as much as Solas's), and when I got to the point where he's in the beginner mage armor, I was like, "You're so... scrawny. Dorian's gonna break you."

Sandal! I was so sad he was not in this game! I wonder who the scary lady tell him bad things in his head is!

This armor and that I have Solas in right now just keeps making me laugh. He just looks fricking ridiculous.
Look at this crap >.<

Seriously though, I'm a bit annoyed that when I use Dragon Bone for crafting armor for Solas, it just makes it the brightest orange color possible. ![]()

If anything, I think Mythal and the other gods' current state represents a devolution of sorts. They're crippled, severed from the fullness of what they used to be.
A little late with this but if Morrigan drinks from the Well and the Inquisitor attempts to attack Flemeth in the Fade, Flemeth will tell Morrigan that "in this place, my power is greater than yours."

So far I've seen at least two references to Sandal, but that's it. One was during Varric's war table missions, and the other was by Dagna. At least I'm pretty sure she was referring to Sandal when she was talking about runecrafting. Makes me sad. ![]()

You know what what would make it even more worse? When/If you get the choice to side with the Dread Wolf, you'd have to kill your companions, who are all trying to stop you from helping him, as a consequence...
I think I'll go lie down and cry now...
I know, right? Since we're being morbid here, I'll go ahead and post the scenario like running around in my head for the final DAI DLC:
L: I can't let you do this.
S: Vhenan, do not force this choice on me.
L: Choice? What choice have you left me? You would drown this world in fire as surely as Corypheus, all for your pride, and you speak to me of choice?
S: I never wanted-
L: What? To kill countless people? To decide the fate of every living being in Thedas? The old world is gone, Solas, and remaking the current one... it's not your place.
S: (progressively angrier) Not my place? Whose then, if not mine? You said you wanted to change things, but what did you actually change? A Dalish mage may command the greatest of Thedas' armies, but your people still hide from the world, clinging to half-forgotten fairy stories and so wrapped up in bitterness and a desperate bid for survival that they would turn away from you in contempt. It is not enough, to simply desire change, you must actually do something to cause it.
L: No matter the cost?
S: There is always a cost.
Cue epic battle, Solas (of course) wins, catches Quizzies and gently lowers her to the ground.
She gasps, reaches to touch his face
L: (hitched breathing) Is there... anything left? Of the man I loved...
S: Ir Abelas, Vhenan.
She dies. Solas pauses a moment, then rises. Continues on to , presumably, carry out his plans. We now have the whole delicious backstory for the DAI's major villain (a sympathetic bad guy, b/c those are always the best) and a clean slate for the new protag. A similar scenario could work just as well for any quizzie too- just replace Vhenan with "my friend" and "Of the man I loved..." with "Of the man I knew..."

Dragon tier 4 mats suck, tier 3 mats look sooo much better. Poor Solas looks like a carrot now.

Some conversations come out odd if you get the at the wrong time. First run I didn't have Dorian or Vivienne much in my party because I am a mage and Solas was with me. So when I did bring Dorian along it was way past the time that Solas was in his peasant threads. He was modelling the ancient elven robes that I thought rather good. Then Dorian starts mocking him for his dress sense and I'm thinking "you are so last year, haven't you noticed I'm in charge of his wardrobe now?"
Looking back on my experience it seems rather ironic that after the first kiss I was so ecstatic about his romance - finally one I really felt emotionally myself, not just role played - and was so hopeful it was going to work out okay. This was not a physical attraction at all - we seemed like soul mates. I perfectly happy to think it never went beyond kissing (though I didn't experience the comments at the Winter Palace which might have given me pause for thought). That particular evening had been so emotional. I'd just been through the destruction of Haven and being lost in the snow, then really welled up when everyone was singing and looking at me. I like to think that was when Solas saw me in a different light (although I realise that he looks the same no matter who the Quizzy is). Then he takes me off for a private chat about the orb, leads us to Skyhold and we kiss in the Fade. I was so happy and went to bed dreaming of Solas. A couple of nights later we have our second romantic scene and he says that "it would be kinder" not to carry on, even though he does, and I got that awful feeling that may be it was going to end in heartbreak after all. Still as the Bard wrote "Better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all".
