I like what you say but I would put it on a longer time frame... Solas starts to connect ot others through interactions. I think he would change, or grow since ts in a positive direction, if he wouldnt slam the door on everything with that plan of his.

Its like .human' Solas almost gets there, specially with the romance, then ... bam! 'God' Solas takes over and he has to fix old mistakes.

I think what comes next will decide if he completes a 'growth' arc of a 'fall back' one.

I think you conveyed what I think I meant. I think any growth that is there is very subtle and hasn't quite bloomed yet (what kind of sap am I to make plant comparisons)? I think his interaction with others has affected him, or has at least planted a seed in him (there I go again). I do think scintilla is right that the Inquisitor is the biggest deciding factor since he will fall back on  his Ancient Society Superiority stereotyping if he doesn't like them, but I'd like to think that in the long run he'll be thinking of the others as well. Especially if his character arc does involve growth. He does tell Blackwall he'll remember the people.

Yeah, this. He's sort of started down the path but his arc is unfinished and what comes next for him will define what kind of arc it is.

And really, if the outcome of meeting Solas is as pessimistic as some have suggested... that he may give an ultimatum such as "you can either be immortal with me or remain mortal and we shall part ways"... would the Inquisitor really leave behind a lifetime of potential positive influence on the world for such a self-centered reason?

(I'M SORRY SOLAS ;-; )

Terrwyn has been raised to never be selfish. She always puts others first, her duty first, everything before her because those things are more important. In fact, she isn't even listed second on her priority list...more like fifth. So when she is selfish once, it doesn't work out. If the choice is given to her, and it darn well better be, you can darn-diddly bet she going to be selfish.  :P

Re: Sera

My Mahanon tells her everything she wants to hear and even gives a self-satisfied little smirk at the end of their conversation.

Spoiler

He then tries the same evasive maneuvers with Solas but gets called on it.

Oh wow, good work on that elf. He looks super lively :o

Ugh, and this is why Inquisitor and company should be there when it happens.

My Lavellan tried harder with Sera than with say Blackwall because she was an elf, she stepped around sensitive subjects, played pranks because it's something she would have done when she was younger but in real terms no she and Sera weren't friends. On the list of people she'd go hang up with just because Vivianne ranks higher than Sera.

They don't agree about the future of mages but Viv's advice helped Lavellan get a handle on the strange situation she'd landed in.

I don't think being immortal with Solas would necessarily be a selfish decision, especially if Lavellan could use all that time to slowly convince him not to give up on modern Thedas.  But I don't know if mine would do it even then.  She was never interested in being Herald or divinely chosen or any of that nonsense, which is funny since the quizzy is basically set up that way.  She refused to drink from the Well; the one thing she never compromised for any reason was her essential nature, and I don't know if she'd give that up for Solas.

I would love to see the other characters having an impact on Solas and how he views things. I think his other relationships are pretty damn important but given that BioWare gave the player power over how he reacts, I can't see it making much difference during the actual course of the story.

I know if the Anchor was going to greatly effect the Inquisitor then it would effect all of them regardless of race but I can't help but wonder if carrying around ancient elven magic didn't resynch Lavellan to whatever gave elves immortality in the first place.

He's a rogue through and through and I  him so much.  Double the scenery in this playthrough because Solas is always in his party.   :D

My Lavellan drank from the Well for mostly selfish reasons :D

a. She is very interested in knowledge, I always imagined her exploring ruins next to where her clan camped. I made sure to unlock all the extra dialog options as soon as possible with her, so it'd fit the character.

b. She didn't trust Morrigan with something of her People.

c. (The real reason) - I wanted to see if drinking from the Well will give insights about Solas, my first PT Inqi didn't drink from the Well and I felt confused by the end of the game (something that will happen anyhow, I think this game needs at least 2 playthroughs to get your **** together).

I could entirely picture her becoming immortal, while she is not essentially selfish and did not want to be labeled Herald (she expressed her disdain from that title every chance she could) she does a. love him b. will see this an opportunity to see the world

Haha oh you :P But hey,Solas did talk about liking to see you "dominated"

I actually always wondered about this....

I mean, Quizzi being gracefull or all shiny muscle is pretty flirty and my Lavellan was NOT blushing... Noooooohoooo!

But this about wanting so see her mind dominated is just a tiny bit creepy? Okay a huge bit of creepy.

Oh and on top of the line wealthy and prestigious suitors lined up after hearing about your victory over Corypheous as well as your mishap with love, You're also the last known immortal female elf. Every male elf that cares about the old ways, wants to see elves rise to power once more or is immortal themselves has also joined said suitor line. And by 'joined said suitor line' I mean 'started a fight with the human suitors' and by that I mean 'started a war'.

And thus Lavellan was canon inquisitor and DA4's plot was born.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.  It really put me off my canon Lavellan being a mage, but I think I'll just choose to believe he was teasing? and not altogether serious about it.  Though still... creepy.

It was clearly just teasing of a flirtatious variety. Besides, it's your indomitable FOCUS he's talking about, not your mind.

Soooo he's thinking about you being open to spirit/demon possession?  This is what the mage's indomitable focus guards against, yes?

Hm... this idea puts a whole new spin on the "is Solas a spirit or what" theory.

Yeah. This was the moment that made my panties drop. I didn't know who I was going to romance, and then this happened. And I said, "You saucy, delightful man!!! I must have you!"

Well that sounds entirely different from what I had in mind :(

By the way does anyone know what he says to a warrior or a rogue? I won't create a Lavellan just for that bit of conversation >_>

(or would I?)

Wait, he didn't say he wanted to dominate her mind.... but her focus... :P
Or am I remembering wrong?

The conversation goes like this:

Solas: "You train your will to control magic and withstand possession. Your indomitable focus is an enjoyable side benefit."

Lavellan: "Indomitable focus?"

Solas: "Presumably. I have yet to see it dominated. I imagine the sight would be... fascinating."

I am pretty sure he means having her focus (aka her attention) "dominated" would be fascinating. So in other words, it's like saying it would be interesting to have her focusing on something/someone other than her magic/sealing the breach - someone like him.

I didn't find it creepy at all.
