HEY OKAY!

I was playing around while editing videos and heard this weird part when drinking from the well of sorrows. I cut it out and put it in a new file. I reversed it and it does clearly say things when played backwards. :D YAY FLEMETH IS A CREEP!

I thought since everyone kept looking at the codex entries on the translated temple of Mythal writings, this would be cool.

Ughh why am I out of likes today? This is super creepy, but thanks for pointing it out! Now... who's "him"? :o

I don't know how likes work so I gave you one. They are saying "him" and then saying "the calling". Maybe Corypheus? But for some reason my head says "solas". I don't know.

Actually, Solas is the most popular romance in the informal poll that's being done in spoiler scuttlebutt.

http://forum.bioware...nce-vote-share/

From my browsing of BSN (not just the character threads), tumblr, and reddit, I'd say that Solas is quite a popular character. Especially after people see the ending and replay the game. I've seen so many people say stuff like, "well I didn't think much of him until I saw the ending and then I immediately made a female lavellan to romance him because it seems really interesting." So I think there's hope. :) But I think we can also make a difference by being very vocal in our desire for DLC and closure with our Lavellans (and hoping for a happy ending). Bioware listens to their fans, and they've explicitly said that they're going to be taking fan demand into account when planning DLC. So if Inquisition is successful, and Solas is popular, then I do think we'll be getting more content.

I actually found that poll surprising...

I would have suspected to be Cass or Josie at the top, cuz main target group being young white males?

One could think...

That maybe its not mostly young white males, that buy a game like this?

28% Solas + 23% Cullen --> that would be 51%

Cass and Josie make up 19%

And yeah, many males play as fem!quiz and women as bro!quiz, still this poll is somewhat telling...

I don't see Solas as being all sunshine and rainbows. He's capable of doing bad and destructive things and having beliefs I don't agree with (like stereotyping people that aren't from an Ancient Culture as ick). However, he is also compassionate and a strong voice for freedom. He cares about the refugees in the Hinterlands, the people of Crestwood, etc. He is moral.

What makes someone good, a villain, and gray? I'd say his moral character makes him lean more towards good while some of his actions and beliefs lean the opposite direction. The problem I have with seeing him in shades of gray is that it makes it seem like he morally grey or doesn't see things as right and wrong. He appears to think many things are objectively right or wrong.

I think one of Solas' great failings may end up being that he has a "for the greater good" mentality when it comes to trying to help people.  I get this impression when he talks about "the people" and the creeping feeling that whatever he has planned might be very chaotic and harmful for the existing population of Thedas, while potentially better, at least for the elves, in the long term.  I'd like to think he learned a lesson from his first attempt at fixing society by breaking it at the foundations, but I'm not entirely sure he has.  This is what I think of when I consider Solas to be someone who cares so much he doesn't see straight.  And we know that caring as much as he does means he becomes very passionate and very angry when he feels what he cares about is somehow threatened or harmed.

Thanks for answering!

Ah, ok, the orlesian stuff was the reason I didn't want to read it at all (I mean, I'm not into that so much and it's called Masked Empire, right?)... But I guess I can deal with a few chapters. I hope.

Yeah, it's just the first one or two chapters?  But I definitely recommend it. :)

It references "The Calling". Does that mean that the Old Gods and the Elven Gods really are tied? And that Mythal is connected to the Blight? Maybe the "betrayal" of Mythal (which according to Flemeth was a betrayal of the whole world) was the source of the blight? @_@

The haircuts they've seems to not appeal the males players, i saw many threads complaining about them not being enough attractive.

So imo, that's not suprising. :P

!!!

The elven Creators have been tainted with the Blight... and/or the Well has been tainted?  *blarg*  In any case, yeah... the Blight is wayyy tied into story more than we know.

EDIT:  After the "she speaks" there seems to be a "Mythal is..."  but I can't figure out what the last word is.

What I do find very out of character if it was indeed Solas, is when Felassan enters the fade to talk with him and tells the entity to let her give it a try

"Behind him, there was only silence. There would be no debate, no logical argument or impassioned plea. Felassan had known that when he sat down before the campfire"

Now I believe Solas could be many things that we haven't been made aware off but this just sounds like Solas on opposite day..If this is really him than I'm just gonna give up on the dude because that just throws my favorite qualities out the window :(

Solas didn't want to hear talk from those mages either.  If Lavellan hadn't stopped him, he would have killed them for simply being ignorant.  From Solas' PoV, Felassan may have tossed aside one of their last chances.  Felassan probably knew him well enough to know how well he would take it.

Well I think the demographics of BSN have something to do with it (there are a LOT of women here). But I also think that a significant portion of Bioware's fanbase is women. Much more significant than people might think. Plus, a lot of women seem to make up the really hardcore Bioware fans (the type of fans who bother talking about Bioware games on the internet). Plus, you don't have to be female to enjoy Solas's romance. I saw quite a number of male BSN users talk about how they thought Solas's romance was the best because of emotional impact and connection to the main plot.

Also, if we're still doing fanfic recs, I just found this one and it's amazing.

Yeah but its not like they have any other woman to romance?

So they rather play this game without romance than at least give Cass/Josie a chance? XD

And there would still be more males who like them methinks...

This is the most awesome internet thing I've seen today, and I spent a lot of time looking at cats.

Super creepy. Feeling double vindicated for not wanting to have anything to do with the Well.

Now we just need to see if the message changes at all depending on race and/or gender :)

I've already done some digging. I don't think there are other times when people whisper except for when the fade rifts close. It's really hard for me to isolate the sounds when I do that though because of all the fighting, so i need to get a PC copy and dig through the files.

These are things I do for fun and I know it's sad.

I know it isn't a popular view, but I just see Solas as being very shades of grey.  I don't subscribe to the idea that he's all goodness or that he's just a secret villain.  Look at the rest of the companions, some of them have done terrible things, even moreso than Solas supposedly killing Felassan for being a traitor.  I don't believe anything we've seen of Solas has been a lie, but I don't think we've seen everything either, at least not entirely.

Oh im all for that. solas is pretty much a 'get what you deserve' guy and well, jsut like anyone else would, hes got his views on who deserves what. Little people deserve at chance at a peaceful life, which can be seen as a little condescending. But like he said about city elves, they dont need to know who the old gods were to clean up after humans everyday. Ignorant people who play with fire deserve to get burn. Like the mages from his quest.

Solas also says that those who follow Cory willingly should die, he approves of a couple executions and if you go get the templars, he approves you let Calpernia's mentor prisoner in his little bubble even if the game makes it clear youre going to Cory's level by doing so (and its not a sligntly approve, its a full approve).

so he isnt afraid to get his hands dirty, does it without pleasure, and only when he thinks it will serve a greater good. That could be very much in line with his original mistake. But when you try, theres always a chance for mistake.

The whole elven gods and the Blight...and the Calling...  Is reminding me of an old theory....ish thing I had.

It was related to those codexes from Soldier's peak, where a Warden Commander put off going on his Calling, and became obsessed with an elven princess and supposedly talking to himself.  It sounds like it was probably a bit of dark humor, but I wondered if there might be something going on there.  The longer the Calling goes on, the more a Warden can understand what it's saying.  What if he *was* hearing some ancient elf in some form?  If the elven gods, the old gods and the Blight all have some connection, it's less farfetched.

Solas has me on an emotional pendulum. There there, have some sappy happy headcanons:

Lavellan hates sleeping in a tent. More often than not she winds up sharing with Sera, who snores to wake the dead. So she eventually gives it up as a lost cause and starts sleeping outside under the stars, only to find that Solas does the same thing. He likes listening to the sounds of the night, feeling starlight and night wind on his skin. The first time she joins him outside, he seems almost gratified that he's not alone any more. He tells her stories to soothe her into sleep, stories of gods and kings, heroes and ancient rebellions, stories of the People of old. Their bedrolls move closer and closer together each night, until they're near enough to feel each other's warmth.

I'm gonna need this in a fic, stat.

So, I was walking my dog (not Solas, my real-life dog who doesn't leave me even though she loves me...) and I had a little thought.

I don't think we're done with the eluvians yet. TME set them up quite a bit, we never got  to explore the crossroads etc. I felt it was going to be more important... Then I thought: Every eluvian has a specific key. The eluvians where how the vast elven empire held together by making traveling easy. Fen'harel was said to move among both the gods and the forgotten ones, beings I doubt wanted to be close to each other. The anchor, which comes from the orb, is likened to a key many times.

What if, and I realize this might be a big stretch, the anchor could be a sort of master key for all eluvians? The purpose of restoring the foci would be to regain the key, which in turn would restore the remaining eluvians regardless of their unique key. It could even be Solas' MO ("They sleep, masked in a mirror, hiding, hurting, and to wake them...").

Or maybe I'm trying to headcannon a way for my non-mage Lavellan to still be able to chase after Solas grumble grumble...

Solas voice was reading this to me like a bed time story.
