Uhm, so... The unfinished picture in Solas' room is a wolf towering over a dragon, right? And solas = wolf, flemythal = dragon. Right? Am I going mad? Should I get a life?

No, I said that myself some 20 pages ago XD

I'm pretty sure it depicts him approaching Flemeth.

There is also a chance it depicts your dragon defeating Cory's dragon but I personally find it odd Solas will draw a victory mural before victory + that it would be of the dragons instead of Cory being defeated.

To me it looks like a dragon bearing down on a figure that looks like Solas' wolf amulet, with a sword piercing it. The orb being broken?

Oh, I didn't get in on the posting of sadface Lavellan pics several pages back, but just found one from that scene when I was looking for this shot. This is post-vallaslin removal and pre-getting her heart stomped on. In other words, make your girlfriend as vulnerable as she can be and then drop her. /classysolas

I see it as the Inquisition defeating Corifeus (it was also mentioned that the pack of wolves in a earlier drawing is the Inquisition and I agree) He would finish depicting the victory before leaving; this is less odd to me than painting the situation with Flemeth before knowing the orb is broken.

Well, they surely didn't seem surprised to see each other. She's touching the Eluvian when he gets there, I wonder what she's doing.

One theory suggests she may be sending the OGB soul into the Eluvian, but that would be something specific to players' world state. It's one that I like, as it works to set everyone back around to a common world state on these big issues. The OGB worked well as a deus ex machina device for anyone wanting to keep the Warden alive, but then what do you do with it? It can't ever become a main story focus because that wouldn't make sense for the full player base, and it seems too important to make a side quest. The Well provides an opportunity to reset the balance and effectively 'solve' another loose end. Personally, I don't even think she kept it for herself and think she retrieves the spirit from Kieran to send it back into the fade to sleep once more.

I guess the thing to consider is that last scene is the same for everyone, regardless of story choices. So, perhaps it is more that she was doing something "horcrux" related. Taking out a bit of insurance as a safeguard against whatever confrontation she expects to happen with Solas.

I like to think the vengeance aspect is a part of Flemeth, Wisdom became Wisdom again after being corrupted into Pride...

But Anders said that his merging with Justice was irreversible. I don't know, beyond a certain point it's what one likes to think as we don't have much information. But I hope we will learn the full story of Mythal in the future.

I see a dragon pierced in the back with a sword and a wolf-thing standing over it.

I have no idea what that means.

Because Solas presumably started this before Corypenis attacked the TOSA again.  Back then the plan was to attack his dragon and prevent Corypenis' "immortality".  Which makes sense that Solas would want to immortalize that victory.

However, this is the last panel in the room ... so where and what was Solas going to sketch next fresco?  That wasn't supposed to be the last one.  There should have been one more where the quizzy destroys Corypenis.

Unless.

Unless, the frescos are not about the Quizzy.  Unless they are not telling the PC's story (which we narcissistic people naturally assume :P) and instead they are immortalizing the latest chapter of Fen'harel.  Because that last image is a wolf defeating a dragon.  There is a lot of lore that relates dragons to gods and that image would mean "the wolf defeats a god".  I don't think it has anything at all to do with Mythal or the fake-archdemon dragon.  It is Fen'harel defeating the false-god Corypenis.

In short, I propose that the frescoes are a literal painting of Solas' immense pride.

I don't know, he can't know for certain we'll win.

This specific wolf looks a bit dragonish and fiercer and since dragons & gods go together I assumed it's Solas.

The dragon looks like a dragon's foot to me, it may indeed not mean killing Flemeth but perhaps some other thing? Plus, what made us decide that he'll approach Flemeth only if the orb is broken?

Also, I sort of refuse to buy it's that simple XD, since this appears post-credits I figure it is a way to give us hint us of what happened, like the conversation with Cole.

It's incomplete and therefore seems like BW wants us to fill the blanks (they're evil like that).

I thought they might have done it to mess with us.

That's true, but Anders isn't a god, doesn't know any gods, or have access to the ancient knowledge of gods. As far as he's concerned it is irreversible. I'm not even on board with this theory, just threw it out in case anyone wanted to mull it over when it popped into my head earlier.

The figure on the left is a dragon. It's got scales and horns. And that thing on the right looks exactly like Solas' amulet. I'm not sure what it means either, but I interpret the sword through his amulet to be the orb being destroyed.

But that means he knew that the orb would be destroyed, it may be his amulet but I don't think he could've known the orb will be destroyed, he seemed pretty devastated at the end of the game.

Then I probably read it from you and went 'ooohh' but since my mind sucks and my memory is stupid (XD) I must have forgotten. Then today I (re)looked at the painting and went 'ooohh' again.

Oh, I can see it resembles the amulet. I'm confused, actually, I can't really guess what that is. Could be a dragon, but the wings are too big... could be the amulet, but why stabbed?

And your pic, wow, she's a lovely heartbroken-lavellan *hug*

Yeah I don't think this has anything to do with what actually happened at the end of the game.  I think this is what Solas thought was going to happen when the quizzy eventually faced Corypheus.

I just can't imagine Solas slipping back into Skyhold after all of that mess and throwing up a quick rough sketch.

@drake

I know the wings look weird, but his art style is overly stylized.  Like the empress' dress was not a massive triangle.  The sketch is also really really rough.  I don't know.  It could be the jawbone, but I doubt Solas would purposefully paint himself into the frescos.  That seems dangerous and uncharacteristic of him.

They are def messing with us. I showed it to everyone at my work and they said wolf. I also think that is a wolf. No idea what it means though. Overthinking it maybe?!

I read this good article a few weeks ago - it was sort of a review of the game but more talked about how successful/un-successful the game was in telling a good fantasy story(spoiler: the writer liked it). The writer made a good argument though, at some point BW is going to have to force canon in order to keep the story compelling.  The lore is too vast, the world is too huge to maintain all these branching story threads and still have them make sense and/or mean something.  I wish I could find it...it was really well written.

"the dragons unlock it."

-I wrote this down last night in the middle of the night.

So I think that the Old God Dragons are somehow "keys" to the black city where the Elvehn Gods are. Dumat was manipulated by the Elvehn gods on the other side to start the plan to create the blights, and kill the Dragons. Dumat told the magisters to go there, and they would have power. And that started the blights. And the red lyrium is blighted lyrium, and there was a small note written on some in the fade saying they will return and they will get revenge (I can't remember exactly what).

When each dragon falls, another part of the door to open the true black city is unlocked. This could by why Solas was so against the grey wardens. And why he was very upset and defensive when Blackwall suggested that killing all the dragons ahead of time would be a good idea. "How do you know that wont make things even worse"? [Paraphrase]

Anyway there are a lot of people who probably know a lot more about this. But sleep/dream me thought this was a revelation.

That idea really disturbs me XD

It makes me feel like my Lavellan's meaningless and she's just a vessel for my wills (and that being said - if he is aware of it then IMO he should be able to romance everybody XD)
