I did support Briala (with Celene) and that's the dialogue I got. I'm aware of the spoilers about Solas, but it still gave me pause to hear him say that so bluntly. I guess he could have meant modern Elves. So many unanswered questions in this game.
So you reconciled Briala and Celene and were able to get dialogue afterwards? I wonder if that was a bug that got fixed for the patch, then.
I imagine it's a bit like in the real world. You live in a country with very different customs and language than one an ocean away, then suddenly you're forced to live there due to reasons beyond your control. You might look like everyone in that other country, but you don't identify with them because nothing significant is familiar.
Sten had a good way of putting it, way back in DAO. Seeing faces that are, but aren't your own. Talking in a language that isn't your primary one. Seeing customs that are totally alien to you/your way of thinking.

Yes, he's very evasive about who "his people" are, but then he happily calls ancient elves his people when it comes to artifacts, ruins, ancient god murals, etc.
Solas is weird like that. And selfish. And at times kind of a jerk to some people.

I thought that too, at first, but then... no one recognizes him who should, if he's the same person. I don't think he takes over bodies, so that seems unlikely--I think Solas is, physically and mentally, Fen'harel. Granted, Felassan kept his face shaded under a hood most of the time, so it's possible that people just didn't see much of it? And we know that Solas can remove vallaslin, also. However, even so, you'd think that Briala, Gaspard, or Michel de Chevin or, well, even Gaspard, would recognize his voice, at the very least.
I really wish we'd been able to meet Felassan; he was a fascinating character. If he'd turned out to be Solas/Fen'harel I suppose we would have... I just don't get that impression. Felassan seems to be serving someone, and he failed them, and so he was slain. Whether he was a slave or just a follower, it isn't clear, but I believe he may have been a member of a group of ancient elves separate from the Mythal worshipers. In other words, the Sentinels are not the last bastion of immortal elves. He made it clear that Briala would not like his clan.
Also, if Solas were Felassan, I'd have expected him to have far more empathy and sympathy toward Briala, even though he may disagree with the specific path she chose to take. Felassan had a very close relationship with Briala. I doubt simply parting ways with her would have changed his opinion so drastically as to make him suddenly distant from her by the time of Wicked Eyes, Wicked Hearts.
While all of these ideas make sense, the one thing that sticks out for me is -- who else could he be? Seriously. He's obviously one of the Creators, but the only one that's "loose" is Fen'Harel, and he knows so much about him, to boot.
And he's obviously taken on another face when he becomes Solas, since the one he was wearing was "killed" in the Fade. (No, I don't really know what that means, but the word "killed" is in the sentence, so I'm taking that as fact.)
Body-surfing or taking on a meat suit disguise? Or something entirely different? There's a billion ways they could explain this, but I just don't see Felassan being anybody else.
I see all these fan fics about Solas being super jealous and possessive. It's hot and all but he doesn't really strike me as the jealous type.
Like he'd be cool with having a casual third sometimes no big deal. He'd probably be really into seeing other men and women hit on her too.

I don't see Solas as the jealous type because, as Tai said, he's confident. I think he's too serious to accept a casual third, however, or anything casual at all. Or a threesome period. He can barely handle one person.

I think some of it is due to his confidence and suave-ness when flirting, but also due to his body language in the first two big kiss scenes. He's not really just kissing. He puts his whole body into it and closes around Lavellen in a manner that could suggest possessiveness. I mean, I guess it kind of is, but not really in a dominating sort of way that some of the fanfiction written is like.,

Again, even if he got around the physical appearance, and the voice, there's still the fact that he should have some remaining affection for Briala, if he were the same person. He doesn't. What he says about her if you support her, or end up exiling her, seems rather distant and certainly doesn't seem to hint at any prior friendship or emotional attachment. Could he be hiding it? Sure... but I think he'd tip us off somehow, if he were. Having read the book, you can't tell me that he didn't care about Briala.
Being killed in the Fade generally makes an individual Tranquil--and I think it's irreversible, in that case. Though, if the elven gods were spirits or spirit-like, I don't know, maybe it is possible?
Felassan was likely someone's slave--vallaslin, remember?--or willing servant. Obviously, to one of the gods. There are other gods in the elven pantheon, and, he communicated with whomever he was working for within the Fade. Some think it was Fen'harel who killed him, and that's also entirely possible, although for a variety of reasons it doesn't seem to be the case (in my opinion).
As for who Felassan is... beyond "probably an ancient elf who sympathizes with and/or follows Fen'harel," I don't know. We may never know, because he is now dead/Tranquil and it seems we'll never meet him, or at least never meet him in the state he was in prior to that event. (Which is sad, because he was interesting.) Some speculate he was one of Mythal's sentinel elves. I suspect he's from another group of ancient elves, and perhaps whoever he serves (I don't think that it is Flemeth/Mythal, OR Fen'harel) is awake and trying to escape the Fade. But, he could be a servant of Mythal (those creepy whispers!) and working against (!!!!) Fen'harel (which would be interesting as they APPEAR to be allies, or to have been such in the past, and he clearly admires Fen'harel). Or, he could have served Fen'harel--which would mean he's acting on his own, since I would think if Solas had any of the People stowed away somewhere serving him, he would probably not be wandering around the rest of the world.

Ehh... maybe. If he'd said, "I didn't know the Inquisitor was Dalish" then he'd definitely be referring to the vallaslin.
If the DLC is about the HoF I will be.. upset.
HoF could be dead, it's kind of an issue asking people to play a game with a different world state from theirs just for that DLC.

I actually like the plot for DAI better (I do miss other things in DAO but I feel a lot attached to Inqi then Hawke or HoF)

I had a weird thought. Either the Lavellan clan is somehow more "pure" than other clans, or perhaps... well, there are ancient elves still around. Who's to say someone didn't slip off and find love among the Dalish? Yeah, it's too Sue-ish to be true, but if it turned out to be true I would so giggle.
lol I actually had that same thought for a moment. It's not all that far fetched, really. We know now that there are most likely who knows how many isolated pockets of ancient elves still alive out there. It's entirely possible that some of them woke up and went out into the world and integrated into modern Dalish clans. Though you'd think if they were part of Lavellan's clan, Lavellan's clan would know a bit more about their true history. Or not. An ancient elf finding themselves in modern times might choose to stay silent about what their society was really like back in the times of Arlathan.

I got that impression too! He constantly acts dejected, like he's inconveniencing you somehow -- could just be a trick, OR a man worn through with ancient guilt. The portrait he painted of himself as a youth though... hm, that might be interesting to see return, a little.

He is downright snotty.. Even when complimenting you he says how you "impressed me", how you "called my attention from the fade" like we should be really flattered he likes us. Solas is a guy that is used to be the center of attention. He feels like a rock star walking in disguise but unable to hide his familiarity with being worshiped

Assuming you didn't romance Fenris, he eventually gets on with Isabella. It's nothing serious, but it does show he'd be ok with just having fun without all the ties.
It's probably just an oversight. I'm pretty sure that line is based on approval; if he likes the Inquisitor and how he/she is running the Quiz he'll say that. Maybe they didn't think people would get his approval early enough for him to say that?
