Hello Fellow Solas Fans! I don't post in here much, but I do enjoy reading everyone's theories and different reactions to the Solas story line. I just want to ask if anyone thought about Solas' connection to Skyhold? He's the one who brings you there and he does the mural paintings. It is a very old site and I'm wondering if has anything to do with his mysterious past. Here is the entire codex entry if you haven't collected them all. The last entry I find the most interesting.

 

Also, does anyone know if Solas is responsible for all the other paintings at Skyhold or just the one in the rotunda? I'm especially curious as to whether or not he painted the mural in the Inquisitor's bedroom.

 

I have to say that I will be seriously put out if we don't get dlc to answer some of the Solas questions that have been brought up in this game. Fingers crossed for dlc to explore the mystery of our favorite Fade Walker.

I think it would depend. Calling her a slave would depend on if she kept the vallaslin. I'd have fun taking him down a few pegs. Snooty just means challenge.

I wish I had a NASA PC haha. Sadly no, just a 2 year old gaming laptop. I can run a lot of things on high or ultra, but not everything. No photoshop or anything after the fact (just convert the in-game bmp screenshot to png and upload). I use BF Cinematic Tools for DA:I - it's a small exe that was originally developed for BF4. It hooks into the game engine while the game is running and gives you control of Frostbite's various in-built graphical tools - presumably the ones the devs have access to when fine-tuning the lighting and so on for the game. It also gives access to flycam and dof (the blurring). It's a bit fiddly to use and sometimes bugs out, but since taking screenshots takes up about 75% of my gaming time I'm cool with that.

 

The only problem is I'm still level 15 in my first playthrough. It's hell trying to stay away from spoilers.

designer notes regarding the epilogue and what exactly is going on
there, including who did what to who and why. I don't have enough
knowledge (read: I have no knowledge) of programming so it's
impossible for me to verify whether or not it's real, and I'm hoping
someone here can take a look at their screenshot and see if it looks
legitimate

Designer's Notes: This is Flemeth from the previous two games. In this
game, Flemeth's story comes to a head -- she knew that Solas would
summon her, and that he would need to steal her power to further his
plans. She knew that because they are both elven gods...yet Solas has
slept for a thousand years and his power dwindled, while she was
killed long ago and a spark escaped from her into the body she now
holds. She has nurtured that spark, and knew that Solas would need it.
He was once her oldest friend, but she knows in his drive to save the
elven people he will kill anyone -- even her. She intends to let him
have the power, so long as she can pass the essence of her god-hood
onto Morrigan, a gift Flemeth had always planned for her daughter yet
one Morrigan misunderstood as hostile possession.

Here's my reaction (still major spoilers)

It doesn't really "fit" with my interpretation of past and current
events or characterization and would mean that I've been pretty off
the mark in many cases. Parts of it make a lot of sense, and parts of
it just don't fit my view of Flemythal or Solas. Which would not be
entirely surprising because I'm often wrong, but it would be
disappointing to say the least. In fact I'd really feel like I'd been
smacked in the face, since taking Mythal's power in the way it's
described in the notes is pretty evil. Betraying your oldest friend?
Showing a willingness to kill anyone you need to in order to achieve
your goals? Evil.

It's hard to wave the Team Optimism banner right now guys. I'm feeling
kind of ugh, and I guess that's why they say these are "spoilers". I
need to find a way to recover my happy feelings TT.TT

Merry Christmas to my favorite thread! Here's more random speculation, sorry if it's been discussed before and I missed it.

 

During the balcony scene Solas says:  'You show a wisdom I have not seen since- *pause* - my deepest journeys into the ancient memories of the fade'. That pause is just long enough that I think he meant the Inquisitor reminds him of a real person from long ago. Could this by Mythal?

 

Also, if the Inquisitor drinks from the well of sorrows, we get this possible conversation by picking the 'I'll trust my friends' response:

S: You think to share your power, to avoid the temptation to misuse it. A noble sentiment, but ultimately, a mistake.

I: Why?

S: Because while one selfless woman/man may walk way from the lure of power's corruption, no group has ever done so.

I: I trust my friends.

S: I know that mistake well enough to carve the angles of her face from memory.

 

If Solas is speaking from personal experience, then maybe he's referring to the elven pantheon as a group corrupted by power? Some folks seem to think it was Elgar'nan who betrayed and murdered Mythal, but what if it was one of the goddesses, like Anduril? That might explain the 'her' in Solas's last comment.

Post Cory's defeat Lavellan meeting past Fen'Harel would be interesting especially if he's all dismissive because she has vallaslin but intrigued because of the Anchor while she's just horrified by the truth of Arlathan.

Sorry to break into the front like this, but I'm catching up on the thread and this perfectly sums up my emotions.

 

It sucks so much, because there are definite moments in the game where I look at Solas and think, "Is this all part of your grand evil plan?"

 

Then I ignore it ... it doesn't matter ... all that matters is fade kisses and butt grabs and telling the quizzy how super awesome she is.

Hmm, interesting read. I may need time to process it. I really just want to know what he has planned. I would be really disappointed if he turned into a really bad guy. I enjoy the good intentions gone awry path, it means maybe redemption. After seeing how they handled Bishop many moons ago, I would lose hope of steering Solas away from the edge of truly evil.

 

But if Mythal planned for this, then is it necessarily a bad thing. A you knew, that I knew, that you knew, this was going to happen, so it's like giving consent? Or am I stretching out of naive hope? XD

 

And yes...to all the fade kisses...especially the fade tongue.
