Also sorry that formatting is wonk I had to copy and paste from an email. And finally sorry if this has been posted before, and for all the text (I have a lot of feels about this).

someone posted this on reddit, with possibly MAJOR (not kidding) spoilers for future content. Apparently they data mined some
designer notes regarding the epilogue and what exactly is going on
there, including who did what to who and why. I don't have enough
knowledge (read: I have no knowledge) of programming so it's
impossible for me to verify whether or not it's real, and I'm hoping
someone here can take a look at their screenshot and see if it looks
legitimate

game, Flemeth's story comes to a head -- she knew that Solas would
summon her, and that he would need to steal her power to further his
plans. She knew that because they are both elven gods...yet Solas has
slept for a thousand years and his power dwindled, while she was
killed long ago and a spark escaped from her into the body she now
holds. She has nurtured that spark, and knew that Solas would need it.
He was once her oldest friend, but she knows in his drive to save the
elven people he will kill anyone -- even her. She intends to let him
have the power, so long as she can pass the essence of her god-hood
onto Morrigan, a gift Flemeth had always planned for her daughter yet
one Morrigan misunderstood as hostile possession.

It doesn't really "fit" with my interpretation of past and current
events or characterization and would mean that I've been pretty off
the mark in many cases. Parts of it make a lot of sense, and parts of
it just don't fit my view of Flemythal or Solas. Which would not be
entirely surprising because I'm often wrong, but it would be
disappointing to say the least. In fact I'd really feel like I'd been
smacked in the face, since taking Mythal's power in the way it's
described in the notes is pretty evil. Betraying your oldest friend?
Showing a willingness to kill anyone you need to in order to achieve
your goals? Evil.

It's hard to wave the Team Optimism banner right now guys. I'm feeling
kind of ugh, and I guess that's why they say these are "spoilers". I
need to find a way to recover my happy feelings TT.TT

OMG I don't know what to think. How can we tell if it's true?

The designers notes said nothing that would suggest Solas being so evil. It's pretty obvious from their interactions at the end that she knew he would summon her, she was ready for him. Where does it exactly say he is willing to kill everyone? Where does it speak of that 'spark' and 'soul' whatever? It's pretty obvious she puts something into the eluvian but... That doesn't mean Solas is evil.

One a side tangent....every time I see spoiler tags, I totally read it with River's voice....which in turn makes me want to click it.

Ok, this is something that I really want to see happen in the next dlc/expansion/game. While Lavellan is looking for Solas, she comes across an ancient elven ruin (it needs to look majestic because it was actually the home of the Creators). The team decides to camp there for the night and because of her mark and her connection to Solas, she entered the fade of that area in her sleep. She travels the fade and finds little bits of clues and memories of what happened with Solas and the elven gods. Then at the end of the mission, an epic cutscene shows how Solas sealed both the Creators and the Forgotten Ones. Of course, the best part of this is that you get to see Solas as his young hot-blooded self with long red hair in dreads wearing princely robes.   Then Lavellan wakes up in shock realizing that Solas was Fen'Harel.

Like Patrick Weekes said "It's more complicated than that." While I don't think we should excuse people's actions or not hold them accountable for them I do think that motivation and feelings about said actions are important. It is selfish that he want to restore the elven people and that he'll do anything to achieve his goals, but it's selfless at the same time since he he is motivated to help The People. What the costs will be, though...I really effing hope we find this **** out with the Inquisitor. I really, honestly do.  

 

Maybe we should take this to the old group if we want to talk it over? Make a new thread with this potential new revelation? We don't want it here where someone could accidentally stumble.

Post Cory's defeat Lavellan meeting past Fen'Harel would be interesting especially if he's all dismissive because she has vallaslin but intrigued because of the Anchor while she's just horrified by the truth of Arlathan.

I think the affection is more of a mentor or a dear friend. Platonic. Kind of like how Leliana has with the divine, and was pissed that you assumed they were lovers as though being lovers is the only way you can be close.

I haven't finished the game yet, still... could you tell me - does the team knows that he is a dreamer? Did Cassandra and Lelianna knew this in the beginning? Does he ever tells the Inquisitor? Or does he keep his abilities as a secret? Because after that dream it's hard to believe she wouldn't guess he's a dreamer

And I am so relieved it didn't say they were lovers, that thoughts sat in my head for a long time, I hated it!

 

I must say, it really doesn't surprise me, I'm more proud than anything, it's pretty much was my headcannon

Yeah, also if this is true, the fact is, she nurtured that part of her that Flemeth has because she knew he would need her power.  I suppose if nothing else we know now that he just took her power.  I never saw the lovers thing, it always seemed more familial to me.

The spoiler doesn't faze me much, not sure why it bothers others.

It's pretty much what we gleaned from the game, isn't it? I mean, they're still obviously friends and there's a degree of cooperation in that final scene, but each of them have their own agendas. Thus far it's pretty much standard DA and how I saw the characters anyway. It's in keeping with a Morrigan type story. She genuinely cares for the Warden as lover or friend, but ultimately wants what she wants for her goal and tries her utmost to get it.

Where are people getting that they were lovers?
