I saw something on tumblr last night about one person's theory about baby....In a way it makes sense that it would be the reason only a female elf can romance him and why that's important. But then why go to such lengths to make it ambiguous as to whether they actually had sexy time. Of course...my headcannon made plenty of opportunities for hot elf love....but not everyone enjoys dem broad elf shoulders like I do

 

If they were ever to try a plot like that again, I can't imagine it wouldn't be given as a direct and clear choice like when Morrigan approached you for the Dark Ritual. You can then accept or deny it. It wouldn't be worth the WhoaWTF ****storm of having a baby forced on a character. Whatever a character might feel about it, a lot of players tend to project onto their PCs and there are plenty who would absolutely not appreciate an "oops, yer dun pregnit" type of thing.

 

So sure, it might show up in the future. I just don't believe it would show up in a way that we wouldn't have a choice in the matter.

While I think a pregnancy plot would be interesting, and while it's not impossible for Bioware to go that route with his romance, I don't think that's the main reason why they made Solas' romance exclusive to female elves. His is not the only romance that caters to a specific gender and race. Cassandra only romances human males, doesn't she?

 

I suppose it's because of the stinger at the end that makes the pregnancy plot interesting to a number of folks.

I kind of just assume that one of the reasons it's female only is that 1) Solas is presumably straight and 2) they didn't have time to do the romance for male Dalish?

Yeah, that was weird conversation. Dagna says she felt as big as a mountain but moving. To me that implies she felt like the entire world as it rotated. This seems to fit with the dwarven believe that they originated from the earth (stone).

 

There's also a banter between Solas and Cassandra (which I can't find) where he talks about her seeker abilities as making things more real. I'm assuming this is the natural opposite of mage powers which draw on the Fade where imagination rules.

 

So perhaps dwarves can't use magic or dream because their connection to the physical real world is too strong. Is it possible that elves are the opposite race? They always seem to be the sacrifice of choice for magical rituals. If that's true then maybe the whole spirit origin theory for elves isn't so far off. Solas's spirit friend did look and speak like an elf. I assumed she was just taking the form of what he expected her to look like, but maybe not.

I always thought that it was the stone sense.  That was how that conversation with Dagna came across to me.

It does seem a little strange if the devs have said that it was important that the Solas romance occur only with a female and that it would "make sense later". Does anyone have a reference for that? When did they say this? The devs could have easily just said that his character is straight, but instead they hint at a plot agenda at best, or a Solas agenda at worst.

Mark Darrah said in a tweet that Solas's gate to elves only would make super story sense before they even announced that he was also gated to females. I think the gender gate is just because they decided to write him as a straight man. I think it would but fun if there was a choice to have a "rebuild the empire with your privates" plot, though.

We know from Cole that Spirits can become real, corporal, physical.

We know from Kieran that the souls from Old Gods can be born in a persons body.

And we know that spirits and demons can posses people.

 

So, could a spirit choose to be born? I mean, a spirit chooses it wants to be born, finds a woman who just became pregnant and goes into the embryos body?

Then it grows up just like a normal person. And from how I understand it, it would not be like your standard possession?

 

Do you think this is possible?

 

Cole says something that the Quizzi is so bright. But why is the Quizzi like that?

What if Quizzi is a spirit that was born? Like Kieran?

So far, I'm finding dev confirmation that Solas being an elf-only romance is super important, but not the confirmation that female only is super important.

I think the elves have gotten progressively taller in every game. Fenris is as tall as, (possibly taller than) a human female also, he just slouches most of the time.

 

On the other hand, the npc and player heights do weird things in this game. Sometimes my Lavellan looks taller or equal height to Solas in general cinematics and out in the field. But when they are close to each other in more intimate settings (rawr), he towers over her. On the other other hand, Solas doesn't have a typical elfish body. He has broad shoulders and a sweet badonkadonk. His arms and legs aren't twiggy either. I dare say he's practically perfect in every way.

 

Coincidentally, if you take the time to stand near some of the Guardian elves in Mythal's temple, you may notice that some of them are nigh Qunari height and build.

When they are going down to one of the eluvians, the stairs are just a bit uncomfortably large.  Felassan says, "Perhaps we were once taller?"

 

Edit:  From what I can glean from a bunch of threads, Solas and male Lavellan have the same body model, which is why they both suffer from the glued arms bug.  Male Lavellan only looks weird because something is wrong with the way his armor is styled.  Abelas has a totally different model than either of them.

As I'm trying to catch up with the thread here cause I just got back from D.C I prefer to stay on the optimistic train,we don't know what's going to happen in the upcoming DLC's yes but I believe Solas to have a good heart and hopefully the writers will not smear his name any worse than it already is with the elves/everyone his plan already went south. If Flemeth did know of Solas plans and decided to give him her powers...fine. I also don't find Solas evil he has his cons but he has more pros. Also lol this baby thing I don't believe that will happen again Solas is straight because he is and I don't think the baby theory is the reason why, but it's possible and of course the baby theory could happen and I'm sure Bioware will give you a choice on that if it does.

 

We are just going to have to wait and see but I'm staying optimistic. I think we will get answers when we see solas again. 

 

We better have a choice to have him back or so help me my Lavellan will drag him back to skyhold....

I imagine Solas's race preference went along similar lines. I'm not saying he should've had more options (I think it makes sense he'd prefer elves) but I doubt the only two race gated romances (also the last minute two) were only race gated for story reasons.

Anywho, I hate the idea of pregnancy (that stuff will wreck my cute Lavellan's body) or that Solas was attracted to you to get you prego (creeeeepy).
To each their own, but keep it head canon.

It may be a time and assets factor for them both, sure. But it doesn't not make sense for them to have the gating that they do. If they had made Sera refuse a female elf, that likewise would have made sense for her in its own way. And I still say considering who Solas appears to be, it's not a stretch to imagine he'd only be interested in elves, or that Cullen's lack of exposure to dwarves and qunari makes them too unfamiliar for him to find attractive in that way.

 

Actually, it would have been very interesting if Sera would flat out refuse to romance an elf. She's able to see past it enough to see the person and not the ears, but still. And I guess she does break up with an elf that refuses to renounce her religion and beliefs? Yeah, how's that gonna work post-Mythal meeting? I should go look that up on Youtube.

I read Gaider's comments on this subject from GaymerX and he emphasized the fact that they wanted variety and representation. In other words, some people are just straight. I know this is a concept BSN has a hard time with.   I really wouldn't read into it beyond that. There usually are extra recorded lines that don't end up being used. This was true for Skyrim and DAO as well.

Just realized that all the Old God Dragons were female because all high dragons are female. There was a codex entry I saw that said that the dragons were likely to be extremely intelligent highdragons. 

 

That's kinda neat.
