Mark Darrah said in a tweet that Solas's gate to elves only would make super story sense before they even announced that he was also gated to females. I think the gender gate is just because they decided to write him as a straight man. I think it would but fun if there was a choice to have a "rebuild the empire with your privates" plot, though.
Sera has banter along these lines during the Solas romance where she talks about dropping baby elves.

Just realized that all the Old God Dragons were female because all high dragons are female. There was a codex entry I saw that said that the dragons were likely to be extremely intelligent highdragons.
That's kinda neat.
This is something I hadn't thought of. I tend to believe the theory that the Old Gods are the corrupted Creators, but that would mean some of them would have to be male. Unless there was a pecking order like with the dragons and the male ones were not as powerful as the females. That would make Flemeth more powerful than Elgar'nan.

It's true. Forget the Inquisitor, the real threat to Solas is Cassandra.
I'm replaying and just noticing all the compliments he gives Cassandra. If it wasn't for the fact that he is only interested in elves, my Lavellan would be jealous 
. He seems to respect her, but I also wonder if he is sweet talking her to stay on her good side, since out of all the inquisition members she is the most suspicious of him.
