I think you guys are being really hard on Sera right now. She doesn't think the religion is "stupid". She's afraid of what the religions have done to her and her friends. You could see that she was afraid when the quizz said those things.

I think what she's afraid of is that she's wrong, and what it will mean if she is. Her greatest fear is "the Nothing." Very existentialist of her. So, it's very important to her that the Maker be real, that there be an afterlife, etc.
When she's confronted with the possibility that she might be wrong, and maybe the afterlife isn't what she hopes it will be, or even possibly not there at all, she wants to shout it down as being demons etc.
I still don't like Sera. Not after her being so hard on my VERY SAD Inquisitor, who needed a shoulder to cry on, not someone to mock her for being Dalish.

My Lavellan didn't have her Vallaslin removed but if she did she'd tell Sera it was private. Sera's dialogue for that is pretty funny anyway she says something along the lines of "yeah your face is private".
I like Sera she's childish and afraid, but she doesn't like bullies and doesn't apologize for who she is. I respect that about her character.

She doesn't like bullies, but in that scene she was a bully herself. Edit: Would also like to add that she also claims to care about the little people, but doesn't care how her actions could cause them harm. Also, the brutal way she murders that noble? Unacceptable to me. I could move past it, because obviously she has a beef and the guy was rotten as roadkill, but still... it wasn't a good starting point even then.
Sure, my character could have not told her. However, she thought that Sera was a friend. When someone is your friend, your TRUE friend and not just pretending, you can go to them and talk about stuff that bothers you, and they will listen to you. Sera listened and then mocked the Inquisitor. That is not a friend. That is a bully, kicking the Inquisitor while she's down. Even though she didn't know about the breakup, there was no way Sera didn't notice that my Lavellan was sad. And Uth'shiral was like.. super, super-nice. She'd been nice to Sera all through the game even though Sera had never really shown her the same sort of respect, since how dare Uth'shiral be an elf and a mage and choose that creepy rift magic over something less magic-y? And yet she thought they'd bonded over playing pranks and listening to Sera's concerns.
To me it was a huge wake-up call, and if Uth'shiral wasn't such a nice person, I'd have had her kick Sera out on her behind.

But Sera wasn't trying to be vindictive, she wasn't trying to hurt Lavellan, she was just delighted in the fact that the high and mighty Dalish elves were wrong, horribly wrong.
Your Uth'Shiral gave Sera far too much credit. I just don't see any circumstance were Sera would've comforted Lavellan.

Scripteerrrrrrssssssssss! *shakes fist angrily*
You know, I also found it strange that Abelas called my Lavellan "shemlen" at the well of sorrows, I thought maybe he was just being rude and comparing dalish to humans, but maybe that was a scripting error too.
I don't think Abelas calling a Lavellan a shem is a scripting error. You kinda are a shem to him. You're not immortal, and practically the only thing you share is pointy ears. A good chunk of what the Dalish think they know about their history is wrong, and they only know enough of the original elvish language to hold probably rudimentary conversations with ancient elves at best. To him, you are part of the shemlen.

Yeah, but when you go to a friend hoping for some consolation and that friend laughs about it - especially when it's something world-shaking...that's unforgivable to me. I had a friend who did that to me all the time, even when it was something horrible; it's demoralizing, and makes you feel worse, and you feel like you can't turn to anyone.
There are points that I do like Sera, but when it comes to those matters...nope.
I loved pulling pranks with her. Her pranks are harmless, just for fun. When it came to Leliana, Sera refused to open the chest because it was too private. I loved that about her. It's like a rollercoaster.

We're bickering about Sera
Yeah, but it isn't like Sera was hiding her personality before that scene. She acted how she would of acted in that circumstance. Why become friends with someone in the first place who acts like that?
Now I'm mostly defending Sera for the sake of defending her. I like her, but my Lavellan is less fond of her.

I don't think her intent matters. If I had a friend who mocked me after I revealed something like that, I'd no longer what to be that person's friend. She took joy out of what caused my Lavellan pain. Maybe it's a stretch to call it sadistic and vindictive (which I do)- but it certainly was cruel of her, no matter her reasons for laughing.
And to add, I want to like Sera. I really enjoy her personality type in characters, but her character flaws really grate on me to the point where the vallaslin comment was the tipping point- it really showed what kind of person she is, and how much she lacks empathy.

It was certainly rude, crass, and salt on the wound but I think intent does matter. Sera has no thoughts to mouth filter, she says what's on her mind. It's her character, she's just not sensitive to situations like that.

Maybe it was too much to hope that she'd at least keep her delight to herself *shrugs*, at least for the sake of a friend. I guess that doesn't matter to Sera, though. Even if she doesn't comfort her, she could at least say something like "Well, that sucks for you I guess" instead of "HAHA DALISH ARE STUPID!!11 trolololo XD"
It may be in line with her character, but that just means she's well written and consistent. Her reaction is a sign of a big character flaw.

If there's a scripting error with the Dalish/Shemlen and the Mythal thingy at the Well of Sorrows, does this mean there are likely to be other scripting errors in the area?
The dialogue after drinking from the well of sorrows (where Solas gets angry and says that he "begged" me not to drink) makes me think that there should be some dialogue where he actually does ask/tell my romanced inquisitor not to drink. But the only comment that I got from him was that I shouldn't ask him to do it. I can't recall him saying anything about that I shouldn't.

There should have been something there but it wasn't a scripting error. Solas's writer left those lines out by mistake.

I hope they do fix that Mythal script error in the next patch. I like to crank the elfy dial at every opportunity. Even as a hunter, it's just bizarre for a Lavellan not to know who Mythal is.
It would be interesting to know if Abelas's "shemlen" line was a scripting error as well.

Just to add my two cents: I am rather sure Abelas calls you "shemlen" because it means "quick child", someone who is not immortal. It was used by the ancient elves towards humans for that reason but picked up by the modern elves as a slur against humans even when they, themselves fitted its definition. I consider it rather neat.
I really like how they are going more deeply into racial and cultural identities regarding the elves.

It could mean that, yes. I'm just wondering if that was the true intention the writers had with that scene or not, now that we know that the Mythal amnesia for elves wasn't intended. Being called "shemlen" + needing an explanation for who/what Mythal is, as an elf, it's likely that these two instances could be coming from similar scripting errors.

True but I do hope it is left in if they find a way to ensure the correct scripting. It's not wrong as such and it does make sense that Abelas would say it.

I've interpreted it as Morrigan would remain an ally and will provide the Inquisitor with answers to her questions, even if she leaves Skyhold, so the power remains close to the Inquisitor, so to say.

That may be working as intended. Prince of Keys only asked about why Solas was accusing a friendly/romanced Inquisitor of not listening to him when he told them not to drink. Because he doesn't tell anyone not to drink, that's the only dialogue we know got left out.
