I had this fan fiction in my head (the most ridiculous and stupid one that I'm ashamed of) where Lavellan is missing Solas and happens to pick up that old time traveling pendant at the same time with her left hand (the marked one). She just thinks "i wish I could go back to a time when we could be together" and BAM her marked hand activates the pendant and she's sent back thousands of years. 

 

So she's there and a bit confused and she think she sees Solas, but dressed all weird. He's got a long mowhawk of dreads and is wearing furs with a skull on his head. She runs up to him yelling in common tongue and he's like "i don't know how you are" but in fluent and quick elvish. They both don't understand each other very well but Lavellan thinks he's just being an ******* and he's very confused at this feisty lady elf who somehow has some of his magic in her hand. 

 

Lots of misunderstandings and LOLs. They fall love and the truth unravels.

 

Eventually the gang comes to "rescue" her. and by rescue Dorian jumps out of a time rift screaming "I DID IT, I'M AMAZING" while the rest fall around him out of the thing. I don't know where that will fit in but i just need that image in my head.

 

Anyway so he falls in love with her, but she needs to go back to her time and do all her important stuff or she will change history. They both realize that he has to forget her in order to not ruin the space time continuum, no matter how bad things turned out. She get's to remember her time with him though, and if they ever get together again in the future she will show him those memories. 

 

And that is why when he first sees her, he has all these weird feelings. But he doesn't know where they are from. So it's like a weird time travel romance dr. who thing.

 

Anyway that was dumb bye. 

 

I want to read this. I would prefer if this fc has... I don't know, like 1 million chapters ^^

Well, not like that but same principles, seeing him back in the days when he was young and hot blooded, and a really quick scene of my Lavellan saying "woof" when she sees him. Ahem.

I love all the fics that suggest their love is older than it is in the game though. There was one I read with Young!Lavellan and a Fen'Harel statue that I wish I could find...it did the "I don't hate Fen'Harel because reasons" thing without seeming too over the top.

He's not referring to her mark, though, but the Breach, and trying to exonerate the Herald who's being threatened with execution. As he says later, he never believed it would be possible for Corypheus to use the orb the way he did, so while as usual he's holding back information, I wouldn't call his statement a lie.

And yeah, I think he disapproves of the Inquisitor throwing herself at Corypheus without first understanding what he's doing there. He approves if you ask Cole what he wants, and doesn't disapprove later when you tell Cullen you'll distract Corypheus to cover their escape.

 

I made no accusations about why he did it, I only said he was lying. He may not have seen anything like the Breach before but the magic was not unfamiliar or unknown to him. So whether you call it a lie depends on whether you take "seen" literally.

 

The Inquisitor is making a knee jerk decision there that could have much more serious consequences than just dying because they have the Anchor. I'm not sure he'd disapprove of someone who didn't have the Anchor doing the same.

Seriously though, write the fic please.  I need more Solas fanfiction.  Especially the good kind.  It is nice how much quality Solas stuff there is though.

When I executed Florianne in front of the whole court, Solas disapproved. I was a bit puzzled by this, particularly since he killed the mages for what they did to his friend. It seemed to me that Florianne selling out the whole of Thedas just so she can be a sort of anti-Andraste as Cory's earthly bride was way worse. I'd given her the opportunity to back down in the Royal apartments but she refused. I can only think he thought it wasn't playing the game properly or some such. The thing is if you spare her then really the optimum outcome is meant to be you recruit her as an agent. However, I really didn't want her sort of politics influencing the Inquisition and she had no mitigating factors, like doing it out of love for a child, etc, so I never took that option. If I spare her she ended up working in the kitchens.

He seems particularly keen to let her live. When I made her an agent..his approval went up. Maybe it reminds him of his trickster days and all the courtly intrigue

So I decided on Torchic. I named her after the Inquisitor. Did you know that that Torchic is in the same egg group as Absol which I'm naming Solas after (cause misunderstood Pokemon, misunderstood Solas, Absolas)? I feel like a horrible person for shipping Pokemon named after characters from another game. Actually I feel horrible for shipping Pokemon at all.

 

Also, I really have to question the adults in the world. First your parents let you ride in the back of the moving truck with the packages that could crush your tiny body (your mother specifies it was a bumpy moving truck). Then they tell you to walk into a perfect stranger's house. Then this other kid's mom tells you to go up to the room of their child which is the opposite sex of you. Then Professor Birch, an adult and Pokemon Professor, needs you to rescue him from a low level Pokemon. Then he gives you a Pokemon and tells you to wander off and your parents are not only okay with it, but they encourage it. At least you get a map.

 

Also also, am I going to be sneaking up on things? Cause you can walk like a creeper in this game.

While I ultimately chose to romance Cullen with my female Lavellan, I still really like Solas' character and his development over the course of the story. I know this might sound stupid but is it wrong to believe that, even if you didn't romance him, Solas might still have feelings for female Lavellan?

Ugh I'm in my second playthrough and I took Solas with me to Redcliffe for In Hushed Whispers (I didn't the first time because I wanted to have a rogue and warrior with me to OPEN ALL THE DOOOORS) but anyways:

I'm not really sure. I do know, that if you are nice to him and make the choices he agrees with and have enough approval that he will strongly respect the inquisitor, regardless of race or gender. As for any kind of 'romantic' kind of feelings, I would say that he would struggle with it a lot because even in a romance with fem Lavellan he tries to let her go and not get too involved. But of course there are those moments where he just can't help but give into his love for her. I would say that it's possible he feels a strong bond, more closely tied to friendship, to anything other than fem Lavellan. Simply because I think he struggles with any kind of attachment, especially of the love he feels for Lavellan. I have a feeling he'd give himself too many excuses not to love a non-romanced Lavellan.
