But really, I don't think the romance was over at all. Come on that breakup was so not final. A final break up, to me, is one where at least one of the people involved is no longer in love with the other person. Solas obvs still loves the inquisitor and did not want to end it...he simply had to because MYSTERIOUS REASONS. And the inquisitor of course wanted it to last forever. If it's something besides the two people involved that is keeping those people apart (like the end of the world blah) there is every reason to hope that those two will find their way back to each other. The love is still there for both parties.
Also there's like, no way of knowing what is in Weekes' brains ( you know, besides meats). Whatever predictions we make are just that, there's no way to know for sure what his intentions are.
I get it, I get it...it's sometimes easier to make yourself believe the worst will happen...then if it does you won't hurt as much. But I'm telling you man, the weather on Team Optimism is sooooo nice. You really should try it...the sun is shining and the breeze is flowing gently through the Emerald Graves and we've got ALL THE BOTTLES OF THEDAS TO DRINK UP IN HERE.

I need to be on the Team Optimism train right now. I need to believe that there is still hope for Solas and Lavellan's romance. Because I don't believe that they would include his romance (which is just absolutely tragically beautiful) in the last minute, just to leave it with a permanent break up. 
(Or maybe they could do that, I don't know...)

They had the option of not making him a romance. Actually, the option was whether to make him a romance because he originally wasn't. The fact that he is not only means that Solas will be around for future content, but that the devs saw that making that sort of connection with him was worth it. I doubt they'd do it and then throw it away by the end of the game with nothing more in the future. Why waste the resources in that case?
I think this is definitely important to keep in mind- or atleast I will comfort myself with the thought.

As to him not originally being a romance? Mike Laidlaw and Mark Darrah said that they added in the Cullen and Solas romances because of the extra year that they pushed DA:I back to. I don't have one specific link, but it was let known when the romance was revealed.

I just experienced the Fade dream with Solas for the first time as a human, so she couldn't kiss him . It still had some interesting dialogue with him, though, and added extra insight on his character and how he and the Inquisitor have a connection through the anchor. This is my first time not pursuing his romance (since I can't), so I'm getting this for the first time.
I don't know if I could go in the fade and not want to face smash with him....
Ha, I wonder how he'd react if my human put the moves on him there XD. All she could say was, "I'm glad you decided to stay" instead of ... "oooh you felt ;)"

Yep, like I said, that encounter in the Fade was the Inquisitor driving the bus. It makes it sound like we should be able to find him in the Fade. Could come in handy someday. 
Maybe this has already been discussed, but you know how Solas mentions the Herald riding in on a griffon? In the Emerald Graves, there's an astrarium that talks about Equinor, thought to be a griffon but also a halla. You see reliefs of elves riding halla into battle. Then there's this...
Those are wings on that halla. Hmm...
The astrarium codex also mentions that the constellation might have originally been of Ghilla'nain but the meaning supplanted because horses were sacred to the Neromenians, the progenitors of the Tevinters. It makes me wonder if the ancient elves and ancient Tevinter shared a progenitor race, which would put Kieran's words about "why do your people choose to look like that" in a different light. We know the old gods and elven gods are connected somehow so this has been bubbling in my brain for a while.
We should all write
stronglypolitely worded letters about how women don't actually like it when their video game romances to end like tragic Lifetime movies (especially when our male counterparts always 'get the girl'. I want an ending that would make the end of a Hallmark look like the ending Old Yeller dammit.
I went to the Feedback forum, and I made a lengthy post about the topic. For all of those of you who are unhappy with the high percentage of heartbreakers available as LIs to ladies, feel free to post. I can't help thinking that maybe they either think we must like it because of Lifetime, or they just have people who play female characters in their offices who really enjoy the heartbreak and tragedy scenes. I know women work there and I know they ask for input from them--maybe the BioWare ladies love their heartbreak?

This Bliss will also be in the other thread supporting less heartbreak. They shouldn't have brought up NWN, even if it was Obsidian who did the worst offense, it's still part of that series....I almost set my computer on fire after MotB.
