- some late ramblings about unhappy romances -
For me, Thane dying in ME3 was probably a better conclusion than Solas leaving in DAI. I mean, it's sad, yes, but it IS a conclusion. Less so with Jacob, but there, too, is a clear explanation as to why you cannot continue the relationship. Solas? He just leaves. While it's clear that both he and Lavellan still have feelings for each other. And it's not like you couldn't at least try to find him.
You even unlock the achievement for being in a relationship only after the break-up scene, as mentioned before.
The whole situation kind of reminds me of Morrigan leaving at the end of DAO... but the Warden got to meet her again in Witch Hunt.
The point? I'm almost sure there will be some kind of conclusion. The main question is - what kind. Bittersweet at best, probably. I still hope, however, that writers do realize that while people like drama, most of them would prefer a more-or-less happy ending afterwards.)
Being a huge fan of my Thane romance in the ME2/3, I have to say I agree. I was so sad to know he would eventually die (and, that he did in ME3), but I got to spend my time with him, have that last kiss, say that last goodbye. My FemShep could properly mourn her loss, while celebrating her love for him at the same time. I would hope (*team optimism!!!*), that some kind of future DLC would at least explore the idea of renewing the relationship or (sad) closure for said romance. Solas says that if they are still alive after the final battle with Coryphyturd, they would have that conversation... and that conversation never occurred.
I feel strongly that based off certain details (Temple of Mythal/Well of Sorrows, the post-credits scene, and the Quizzy with the mark, all leads to some kind of... future run-in with that handsome hunk of brooding elf-meat. It has to right? RIGHT?
I mean, if my Levellan, who...
Edited to add: At least in ME3, after my beloved Thane dies, FemShep can mourn, then get it on with Kaidan! Rebounding is a way to cope, too.
