If the Old Gods and Elven gods are the same, aren't they all dead then? It's just the three of them, Mythal, Solas, and the old god soul.

I personally don't think he's going to wake up the elven gods, I think he's gonna tear down the veil, whether that wakes them up or not anyway. . .

The elven gods are not the same as the Old gods. Solas says that they're not the same and not connected "in the lore." I can't decide if that means they're unconnected entirely and he's using "in the lore" as he normally uses "in the fade" or if he means that they're not connected in the way that Quizzie is suggesting they're connected in that dialog.

Plus the Wardens know the locations of the OG - they just can't reach them because they're too far underground. I think they'd notice if one of them suddenly died and one woke up.

I don't think he wants to bring them back. I posted it in the other group already but, I believe it will be an unfortunate side effect of restoring the People to what they were and bringing back the magic. With centuries to nurse their grudge for him, I'm sure the first thing on their agenda will be to make dread wolf soup.

Then they will bicker with each other and try to enslave humanity. Probably.

On a lighter note, I have my money on him being the most ticklish right around his belly button. Most puppies are, no?

I also agree that he does not want to bring them back. He might think he can absorb their power like he absorbed Mythal's, but I doubt he's going to release and reinstate them. He doesn't like groups, why would he put a group - that has already proven itself to be ineffective - in power?

Just did his second romance scene again and then went down to talk to him. This time, I haven't exhausted his Fade stories, so when I asked him to tell me a story he was all, "I would be happy to share them with you~" And his voice was so much warmer than before! I might've melted a bit. Stupid pajama elf.

Also went back to a previous save and grabbed a video of his In Hushed Whispers scene. God, it's so tough to watch but also so good. He's collected as always, but he's so happy to see you. And above all else he's focused on getting the world back and saving people. He says that he's dying but that it doesn't matter. My lavellan looked just as devastated as I felt.

I reloaded and tried out the snarky response too. Quizzy says something about being glad that Solas seems to know what's going on because they sure don't. And you know what he says to that?

"You would think such understanding would stop me from making such terrible mistakes. You would be wrong."

:crying:

Why not? It would totally explain why Solas got so angry at just the idea of killing the archdemons. If they were old buddies from back in the days of Arlathan.

If they were old buddies, why would he have locked them away?

I've just always had this idea in the back of my mind that the Forgotten ones and the Old Gods were the same - trapped in the void/underground.

I am purposely ignoring the major flaw in comparing it to Israel in this current time.

Hahaha I'm secretly amused by many things. But yeah, Israel's not looking pretty hot right now.

Especially from inside it.

The Wardens don't' know where the Old Gods are.  They'd have to search and dig just like the darkspawn. Or they would have killed them already.

We already know some of the Dalish stories are wrong, who knows if he actually locked them away or if they did it to themselves.  **Unless he specifically said himself,  I kinda can't remember if he did or not.

I think they might be keys to opening the black city. Like somehow when you kill them they unlock another part. Which is why he says everything could be worse after they die.

I dunno, maybe he thinks there's a way to keep the elves from being slaves again. If we know anything about Solas, he doesn't really seem to think through his plans very much.

This is definitely true.

Makes you wonder just what exactly is in the black city that is so bad.

I think he's mad that the Wardens are just sort of blindly trying to manipulate the blight with no real idea what the consequences will be(which is sort of ironic).

What will the darkspawn do when there's no more archdemons has been a question since DAO . I think that's where we're going for DA4; no archdemons, darkspawn going crazy and the Wardens in a leadership crisis all thanks to something Solas did (except for that last part that's all on the Wardens).

The Dalish though that Fen'Harel was one who murdered Mythal but he didn't do it. Was it Abelas who said that Mythal wasn't murdered. Maybe she had something to do with this all too?

Men usually respond to rejection very poorly. I think that might be why.

Not entirely true.  Some men do.  Either way, you'd think that if they are so worried about how men would react to heartbreaking romances, they might put a little thought to how it might affect players who run female characters, too.  If guys don't like it, maybe ladies don't either (or guys who play ladies).

Not to say there's no room for tragedy (particularly if the player has some agency in deciding whether or not it will even be a tragedy)--tragic stories can be beautiful.  It's just that it happens all. the. time. to female characters, hardly ever to males.  So there needs to be some balance, and probably fewer heartbreaks overall because then they just... lose meaning.

I don't think he wants to bring them back. Bringing the ancient gods back might be a side effect of taking down the Veil.  We don't really know for sure what he's up to.  Maybe he's freeing the ancient gods.  Maybe he's dropping the Veil.  Maybe he's going to visit Arlathan, or the Black City.  We have no idea.  All we know is that it's probably not going to end well, because let's face it, Solas is a massive screwup in all he does.  He can have the best plans and the best intentions, and he still manages to bungle it all.  Guy has horrible luck.

Yea at this point really all we know if "all these people of elven myth actually existed."

Other than that, everything else is up for being completely wrong.

Abelas said she was murdered, just not by the Dread Wolf.

Did he say she was murdered? I thought he said she had been betrayed.....which is not necessarily the same thing.

I think its too early for that, there's still 2 old gods that haven't been archdemons yet.

The elves have to learn to live with the humans. They have to because the world has changed and humans arent going anywhere. Not coexisting is no longer a viable choice.

Unless Solas hopes to eradicate humans for the good of the elves. Dear god.

Abelas said something like "Fen'harel had nothing to do with Mythal's murder."  So yes, he definitely said she'd been murdered.

I think specifically Solas says "There's no lore connecting them"  Which if we go with the Greeks and Romans and how the Romans got their gods (which were the greeks first), there is no lore connecting them.  Doesn't mean they didn't "steal" them.

The Wardens don't' know where the Old Gods are.  They'd have to search and dig just like the darkspawn. Or they would have killed them already.

They do know, it's mentioned in The Calling. They do not know how to reach them because there are Darkspawn all over the Deep Roads, but they know where they are.

I think the fact that the Wardens are trying to mess with forces they do not understand is reason enough for Solas to hate them. That they do so while willingly using Blight magic - which Solas views as inherently wrong in a big way - and that in turn leaves them open to control via Coryphefish...that's just gravy.

It's likely he knows that finding the Old Gods won't actually prevent future Blights - since the Blight isn't caused by the Old Gods, only given direction by it - since he has an idea of where the Blight actually comes from. Finding them could actually make things worse, if the Wardens end up tainting them (like the Architect did), or if destroying them upsets some delicate balance of magic, or if killing them just means you suddenly have millions of mad darkspawn (like the Mother) running around Blighting everything.

Solas says "the Blight is not something one smugly outsmarts. Forgive me. The entire idea is...unnerving." I think his anger stems from the same place as his anger with the Dalish. His feelings towards the Wardens are amplified because nothing super-bad happens from the Dalish getting stuff wrong, but when the Wardens get something wrong, stuff goes south quickly (they are single-handedly responsible for the former extinction of the griffons).

But if he does that, the elves will just go back to being slaves again...

I might be misremembering this, but I thought there was a conversation somewhere where he said how things are now is better than the Qun. Because even if the Qun would give a better quality of life, people aren't free under it. So it seems strange he would believe that, but want the elves to be slaves to the Gods again...

I don't think the old gods and the elven gods are the same? Maybe the old gods and the forgotten ones

I may be hanging over Sandal's prophecy way too much but I really thinks he doesn't want to free the gods, it'll be.. Silly.

I think he wants to bring the veil down - return immortality to the elves and magic to dwarves, etc ("everyone will be just like they were").

Cory didn't bring down the veil, he didn't even try, so I think that when Sandal says "when he rises" he means Solas, not Cory.
