I'm definitely sticking with my theory of a bunch of pages ago that I am totally not bothering to go find...but the gist was that given all the time he's spent in the Fade, Solas may be aware of/know the big bad and have some seriously divided loyalties because of his Fade connections. Maybe he even arrives as a spy and ends up deeply conflicted. That's an interesting (and gut-wrenching) sort of storyline. One I would approach with both fascination and dread. 

 

I do not believe he's just a simple, dreamy elf hippie. It would be lovely if he was, but I'm not buying it.

Gheh.  i don't know about you guys, but I've gone from speculating and ruminating and excited anticipation to hopeless resignation so many times I don't know what to think anymore.  This is what I get for getting invested in the characters so early on, I suppose... It's like my brain's stuck on a loop.  At this point, nothing can shock me, and I just hope they reveal the LIs already so i can feel whatever I'm going to feel and move on already.  I'm still hoping they reveal everyone before the panel starts tomorrow so they can speak freely about the gay and bi characters in the game.

I'm with you there.  Something about Weekes describing him as 'average' seemed a bit... cheeky to me.  Like there's a lot more to it.  I think it would be cool, actually, to have a character be involved in the larger plot in this way... and perhaps whether you manage to gain his loyalty affects whether or not he ends up betraying you. Regardless, i do get the impression he knows more than he'll let on.
