HIs mother pines to speak to Alistair IN THE GAME if you save her life.

Not true NOT TRUE.
Again, just speaking elf+human = human
Edit: Misfits is such an awesome series.

They probably are half elves. Pointy ears are just a recessive trait, most likely.

This is what I am thinking. Then again who knows.
But only in the books then? I said it earlier, books aren't 100% positive for concrete lore. And they've changed game lore before.
And that's totally boring. There should totally be half elves, I wonder why they would do it like that. Maybe it's implying the elves are "something more"?
Gaider once said somewhere (can't find it atm; old post) that the "elves + other races = other race" has more to do with magic than science or genetics.
Also, I don't know why you're so against Alistair being elf-blooded, but it was striaght up confirmed during the Raptr Q&A. Sorry to burst your bubble. ![]()
There's some interesting posts here from David Gaider about elfblooded humans and half dwarves here:

And yeah, Fiona will ask about Alistair if you have them both at Skyhold at the same time.

Ya, so sad to see his expression change. I made a gif of that.
Ow my heart!
Seriously though, this is probably my favorite scene in the entire game ![]()
The Dragon Age Wikia has some interesting stuff on the "elf-blooded"
http://dragonage.wik...iki/Elf-blooded
Also, a quote from a character from TME mentions:
“But when a human mates with an elf, the offspring is always human. No elven ears, no big pretty eyes, just a human. No way to tell him from a real man. Unless he gives it away himself.” ― Melcendre
Edited to add: And so far, the only elf-blooded who looks even remotely elven is Feynriel. Every other elf-blooded I've seen (like Alistair, Michel de Chevin, and Slim Couldry) look completely human.
But then again, DA2 was kind of the odd one in the series when it came to the elf (and in this case, elf-blooded) design. ![]()

Not sure why you're so against Alistair being elf-blooded but it is what it is. Though I admit, I was so happy that Bioware finally addressed this issue about whether Fiona was his mother. It's something I've been waiting for since I first read The Calling, since there were people who were doubting that the baby mentioned in the book was Alistair.

Interesting! I need to look into interviews and what not and see if I can find more info on this.

This scene breaks my little shipper heart. You can see the moment when he is just like.........crap.

I know right? My poor egghead loki
Probably my favorite romance scene too, everything from them holding hands to the vallaslin scene (I just love "Lost Temple" playing in the background) and how heartbreaking it is, they really did well with the facial expression this time ![]()
HAHA I found that Solas version mentioned with the Tiddy fic. XD

So, since most people here don't do playthroughs where Solas hates you, I figured I'd share - It's the post-temple of Mythal conversation, where Solas is pissed at you for drinking from the well, with an Inquisitor who he had his max disapproval conversation with.
The most interesting part to me is "You see power as little more than a larger weapon. I look forward to seeing the price you pay."
...it's gonna suck for this Inquisitor if Wolf Hunt happens...
I must say, for someone who has max disapproval, he is very very nice @_@
He actually thanked her afterwards, and smiled.
Ow my heart!

Same. I love it, even though it hurts.
It's such an intimate scene, especially if you chose to remove the vallaslin. She's all shy and worried, then she's happy/ reassured because he calls her beautiful and kisses her. Then when it cuts to Lavellan's face right after Solas's expression changes, you see her realize something's wrong. It always breaks my heart seeing her expression become so sad/ worried. Ugh, she's just so vulnerable right at that moment.
Could be as simple as them not wanting half breeds in the character creator? Haha. I dunno. Elder scrolls has a similar genetic stance in that all races can interbreed, but offspring is always the mother's race.I guess it's better to have genetic rules that support the options present to players than to not have them though.

yup she does ask about her son before the Adamant quest when you made Alistar stay with the Warden and if you leave her son in the Fade, she would threaten you and disappear for the rest of the game, probably planning to get revenge on the Inquisitor XD
Well, that's nice to know. It is easy to see how it might be interpreted as the Fool based on design alone.
Which does lead me to wonder... do you think there is an actual link to be drawn between the character and the cards used to represent them? That seems an obvious question, but what I mean is are the romance cards just for flavor or do they indicate something else? That's a big difference between friend Solas and romance Solas.
I had something more in depth typed up and then I lost but the short answer is yes, I think there are connections. They seem to represent the changes in situation, even if things don't match up perfectly.

Wait! That happens?! Oh my, I'm glad I didn't sacrifice Alistair in my canon playthrough then. ![]()
Not that I would sacrifice him anyway... xD

You can't post things unfinished dammit. I'm pretty sure that one is dead anyways .... uh, not that I have set up a camp there or ... I'm going to walk away.

Arghhh! Why did I never see this! It even has the white dog... The Fool becomes the hero, so I always associated it with the Inquisitor..but this? Please make it so ![]()

Disclaimer:
I used to be into tarots ages ago (10-11 years ago? I wasn't even in high school) and I always liked to look at the drawings, but min you I'm not an expert ![]()
I did notice that at some point, I thoguht the Fool really fits Solas. The Fool's doesn't have a proper place in the Tarot card sequence (it's number 0, infinite possibilites). The Major Arcana is sometimes considered the Fool's journey through life. Meaningwise, it speaks of beginning and potential. It indicates anything can happen, and asks you to take a leap of faith. It's a really positive card in my opinion.
I just shoved it out of my brain, I tried to figure out where it says his card is the Heirophant, is it in the deck they released?
If his card is the Fool then it does fit lovely with the Dalish elf card (like said in the tumblr you linked), if it is the Heirophant it's cute if we view fem!Dalish as High Priestess (and as said, her card in the game is very much like Vivienne's card, which is the official High Priestess).
I personally feel that they used tarot to express the inner turmoils & feelings of the characters, and that they've done so quite nicely.
The Tower speaks of sudden change, revelations, and sometimes of disaster, the Fool speaks of beginnings, innocence.
They can speak of the same thing, it's just a matter of angle, perhaps?
I think we need some expert here!
This could hide hints :<
Ya, so sad to see his expression change. I made a gif of that.
I love what they've done with his facial expression here. The changes are so small but you can still tell exactly the moment when it hits him that he can't stay, even if you just look at his eyes. It's amazing.
This entire scene (with the removal of the Vallasslin) is one of the best scenes in the game, imo.

It really is the most beautiful and poignant scenes. Especially given the wide array of how that can play out. I don't think there is another interaction in any cutscene that allows you so many different choices. And they are all amazing. Even the angry and hurt ones.
Gah, I'm not crying ... It's just raining in here.
Solas is such a freaking nerd. Just finished Hear Lies the Abyss again with a party of Iron Bull, Cole, and Solas. Nobody wanted to be there...except Solas. He was adorably into all of the creepy sh*t that was happening.
Even my Inquisitor, who's usually all over this stuff, was having second thoughts.
