I think this is just down to me and how I see the tarot, so ignore me, I spend a lot of time away with the fairies :P

By the way, the next part of the Fool's journey is the lovers XP

Ooh ... can I have the link to that?  I was reading on the Lovers, but my knowledge of Tarot is sadly limited to a drunken Ren Fair.

The card still needs to be relevant to the character's current situation. Solas is not The Fool in the DA tarot deck because it doesn't suit his dilemma in the game. The Fool may always be The Fool but Solas's dilemma is The Tower/The Hierophant. Those are his story points. BioWare felt Sera was the character most bereft of inexperience, the one standing on the precipice about to take a step off.

And by that definition every character should be on The Fool card because they are all The Fool in their own journey.

I personally feel that Solas' role is bigger than the others, he will be seen in the future, he's been there in the past, his journey is long, he's been through a lot. The personal journeys of others aren't as big or as meaningful (and aren't nearly as complicated). Don't forget the Fool succeeds in what he wants to achieve in the Strength card, which isn't too far away from the Heirophant, afterwards comes consequences (I personally believe he will succeed, even if I won't like the consenquences >_>).

I also think that the fact Solas' romance card is visually similar to the Fool's is a thing, it's been bugging me since I've noticed it, and I'm obviously not the only person who's taken notice. Nothing really prevents them with adding a hint to tarot card you get when you romance the person who will probably change the world, again.

Maybe if we try we can connect the different points of the Fool's journey to Solas it give us insights, but I'm a bit too lazy to do so at the moment, maybe later. Also, I think Solas started out as the Fool, he's done some stupid mistakes out of naivety.

Setting that aside, I've been wondering...

What kind of dilemma does the Heirophant represent when it comes to Solas?

Well that makes 2-3 months to go.

Oh heavens no, where's the fun in Cole as a babysitter? He'd just read the baby's mind, knows that it's hungry, but doesn't understand what baby food is. Eventually the baby just seems smarter than he is.

Now Sera having to babysit a child, there's the gold. She doesn't have the heart to harm a child but she probably doesn't trust herself to keep one from being hurt. So ensues the wacky hijinks of an overly-stressed Sera trying her hardest to make sure nothing bad happens to that baby. Oddly enough I envisioned the same thing happening if Jack ever needed to babysit Shep's kid.

Actually let me just go on this tangent...

Cassandra babysitting a child: that child will live by the child care book or die by the child care book. Also Cassandra has stabbed a knife through the child care book.

Vivienne babysitting a child: she has found a servant to babysit the child for her. The results are better than expected.

Iron Bull: "So…you’re a baby huh? How’s that working out for you?" Iron Bull doesn't pretend to have any idea how to raise a child (Yes, he asks and no, Krem has no idea either. He's kind of offended by the question.) but he does know how to use one to pick up chicks. Cue the baby being adored by Skyhold's flirty women for hours. Also the magnificent image of Iron Bull carrying the baby in a baby bjorn.

Blackwall: that riding griffon pays off massively. Kid's out like a lamp 30 minutes later.

Varric realizes that reading the baby his smuttiest literature keeps them happy. Lavellan and Solas must never know.

Dorian realizes that reading the baby Varric's smuttiest literature keeps them happy. Lavellan and Solas must never know.

omg this is just pure gold xD

Bretons? I don't know a lot about Elder Scroll lore but aren't they descendants of human and elf mingling?

Yes but given that the humans in question were the slaves of the Ayleid and Altmer rulers of the Reach and Daggerfall- their mothers were usually human slave concubines - hence they are considered to be human not elven. Its usually frowned on by the elven races in modern Tamriel.. the elves are very much focused on avoiding interracial marriage- though its not like in DA where its all about ensuring a stable elven population since the population is dwindling-- that is clearly not the case in TES... its because the elven races of TES assume they are superior to everyone else and that the human races and beast races are little more than children or animals since they are so short lived...

DA it is no interracial marriage due to the fact that they are a dying race. This would be the reasons behind things like arranged marriages in the alienages etc.

It's always interesting to read what Cole has to say about Solas. I wonder what he means by "her" in the last thing he says here. Mythal? But who was Mythal to Solas?

● "Voice ringing with fullness from both worlds, guiding me to the shining places. He calls himself Pride."

● "Old pain, shadows forgotten from dreams too real. This side is slow and heavy, but here is what can change."

● "Wisdom knows enduring is pain. He hurts for her, another of many he couldn’t save. He carries necessary deaths."

I believe the "her" Cole is talking about is literally the Spirit of Wisdom from "All New, Faded for Her". I don't think he says that line until after that quest has happened.

I have the feeling that Bioware is mean again.
If you safe Hawke then Hawke goes to Weishaupt and dissappears, so my Epilogue says.

I have the feeling the one you leave in the fade survives (it is never said that the one you leave dies for sure, only they most likely die if I remember right)

And the one who goes to Weishaupt dies becaus some weird Warden **** (my Epilogue says that there is some Warden civil war)

Oh my god no. No. Im freaking out now. I literally will replay the whole damn game if that happens.

Don't worry, they won't kill major characters off-screen. I think the closest they came was (Asunder spoilers):

Spoiler

But I don't really consider that off-screen since it still happened in a book. And they were never as well-loved as anyone you could send to Weisshaupt, and their character arc was pretty done anyway. I don't think we're going to hear news from, or arrive in Weisshaupt only to find out that Alistair/Hawke/Loghain died while we weren't there. That's a wasted opportunity for real feels - they could have them die in front of you later!

We might see whoever we left in the Fade later, but I doubt it. I think they leave the text open for head canon. Could be wrong though.

This has nothing to do with the current discussion but!

Everytime I read the words 'spirit' and 'truth' I read it in Solas' voice (that accent...)

Now that I got this off my chest I feel much better.

Bringing up my shower thought/question as an out for anyone who doesn't want to get involved in the sexuality discussion.

Why does Flemeth need someone to perform a Dalish funeral rite before her soul piece is released from the amulet? Is it because it's a failsafe in case another body of hers is killed (in this case via The Warden)? Or..could it have larger implications regarding how the elven gods could be immortal, and difficult to kill completely? Would ancient elves have a phylactery like that where they store some of their soul/essense in case they die through injury?

In DA:O, during the Dalish questline, you end up finding something similar to Flemeth's amulet. If I remember correctly it's described as some kind of vial, and there's the soul of an ancient elven warrior trapped inside. It gives you the Arcane Warrior spec in return for breaking the amulet and letting it die, since it's been slowly going insane over the centuries stuck there. I think it was implied that the warrior sealed himself/herself into the vial for safety, expecting to be rescued later, but no one ever did.

It was kind of sad tbh. Not sure what implications it has for the rest of the gods, but there you go.

Well Solas'Harel and Flemythal at any rate .. the rest are b$%s*&t crazy and would probably destroy the Keep and eat you for lunch after torturing you for several hours given some of the stories in Dalish legend, and according to Solas'Harel about what they considered to be "fun"

The Elder Scrolls talk is making me want to replay Morrowind... I've tried all the games, but I just always end up lonely without a party to talk to!

Seems like some of the people here have read the DA books? Are they worth reading? I've read TME, but I only picked that up because I heard it had Elfy stuff in it and because it was written by Weekes (who also has a great original series of books too!). The other books are about the Wardens right? I was never really interested in them, so I skipped them... But I also feel like I'm missing out on stuff by not reading them....

Maybe it is me but I think that Fen'harel is not the god of rebellion, but the god of change. I wonder if others think a similar thing?

Not all of them are about Wardens actually .. only The Calling and Last Flight.

Asunder is about the beginning of the Mage-Templar rebellion, Cole, Rhys, Evangeline, and Wynne

Stolen Throne is about King Maric and the Fereldan rebellion against Orlesian rule

Silent Grove, Those who Speak, and  Until we Sleep, are about King Alistairs search for his father Maric... and one of Flemythal's other daughters also comes into play during the story.. as well as Varric and Isabella.

That being said I've only actually read TME.. and got Last Flight for Christmas

So genetics does not work in Thedas? Could it be that they do not understand recessive genes?

Just because and elf and human baby appears human, it does not mean that if they had children that elven features could not reappear in later generations.

Then again it is a crackpot theory with many holes.

<---Is a nerdy biology major

Is it just me, or doesn't the half-elf Feynriel look a little...elfin?

Apparently that is not true, as there's something more - and magical - when it comes to elves and their babies. Thus elf x anything will always be whatever the non-elven parent was, and will remain so no matter how many generations breed back. Or so it's said. They could change that later, but as it stands, elf x elf only will ever result in an elf.

So elves are basically the asari of Thedas.  That also explains the Sera/Solas/Quizzy banter where Sera is like, "Drop your pants for the empire!"

He's the only one who does though-- both King Alistair and Slim Couldry (who tells you in game he is elf blooded and grew up in the Denerim Alienage) from DAO and don't look elven at all-- Feynriel's father may also be elf blooded if you look at him he is of somewhat more delicate build then most males and has the same slightly tilted eyes.

I think elf/human people can appear more delicate looking sometimes. Feynrial did, but Alistair didn't.

I didn't realise there were so many!  :o  I might pick up Asunder, I feel bad about not using Cole more in my first run. I think I missed some Solas stuff because of it!

Its weird that they would make some about King Alistair though.... Do those events just not happen if he's not King or something....? I guess that stuff couldn't become important in a later game...

Michel de Chevin is elf-blooded as well and he looks very much human. Feynriel's the only elf-blooded who looks remotely elven. That being said, DA2's elf (and I guess elf-blooded) design has always been the odd one out in the series. :/
