Does Feynriel really look that much like an Elf? He doesn't have the ears, or the nose... Is it just because he has more delicate features? Humans can naturally have those too...

I didn't realise there were so many!
I might pick up Asunder, I feel bad about not using Cole more in my first run. I think I missed some Solas stuff because of it!
Its weird that they would make some about King Alistair though.... Do those events just not happen if he's not King or something....? I guess that stuff couldn't become important in a later game...
Nope they don't happen if he is Warden Alistair, or King of the Drunks in Kirkwall Alistair-- just if he is King because obviously Warden duties would keep him busy as a Warden and they are supposed to give up lands, titles, any claim to thrones etc. If he is King of the Drunks Alistair obviously he does not have the resources to do this -- though it does give him an excuse to meet Varric and Izzy since they all live in the same inn.

Michel de Chevin is elf-blooded as well and he looks very much human. Feynriel's the only elf-blooded who looks remotely elven. That being said, DA2's elf (and I guess elf-blooded) design has always been the odd one out in the series. :/
It makes me wonder if the elven traits are connected to their magic ... since Feynriel was a somniari perhaps his true lineage came out? Honestly his magic makes him kind of more elven than actual elves.

I think Feynriel may have just the product of the DA2 design which has been replaced with the current design. If they include Feynriel in a future game I think there is a good chance he'll look entirely human.

I think it was definitely a case of an attempt at design that didn't pan out. Theoretically, it could be that Feynriel was just the odd 'human' out that happened to share elven facial features. But as far as lore goes, elf bloods are humans fully. The only thing that hurts them is the scandal of actually being elf blooded, which is still quite controversial.

Bretons? I don't know a lot about Elder Scroll lore but aren't they descendants of human and elf mingling?
I sorta took that all with a grain of salt since it appears to be origin/creation stories for them, sprinkled with myth most likely. Like Arelenriel said, the theories involve ancient mankind (Nedes or Atmoran) and the old Aldmeri. Whether that is fact or Legend, an Imperial or a Nord (theoretical descendents of the Nedes and Atmoran respectfully) hooking up with a willing Altmer in present day Nirn would result in a baby Nord, Imperial, or Altmer, depending on the mother. Not a Breton.
But that's ES Lore, and jawing about it makes me wanna play one of them too. Maybe I'll make a Solas follower mod for Skyrim... that'd make this post relevant right? :3
Aw, who am I kiddin'. I'm still too addicted to the actual Solas to bother. Maybe after the playthrough after next. Hmm...

It could also be a matter of degree. One elf in the family tree not making a dent in appearance (like Slim Cauldry in Origins, who looks like Lloyd- about as far from elven as you can get) whereas if there are more elves then you get closer to an elven appearance.
So about the theories I mentioned yesterday about halla being the original griffons, and the elves and Tevinter sharing a progenitor race. This is a drop from a Sentinel Shadow. They pretty much all drop "imperial vestment cotton." Hmmmm.

that reminds me of finding some ferelden longswords and a chapter of Hard in Hightown in elven ruins
I found one of those chapters in the Temple of Mythal .. if that was what the Abelas and his Sentinels got ahold of for reading material to update themselves on the state of modern Thedas no wonder they tell the Quizzy that modern elves "aren't their people" the only thing that could have been worse would be Swords and Shields or the Randy Dowager Quarterly ... no insult to Varric intended. But not exactly something that would be very useful in updating someone who'd been sleeping for 2000 years on the current state of the world.

How cool would it be if we could somehow play part of Solas' backstory à la Leliana's Song? I don't think that would ever happen, too much new content to build, but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to playing as a younger, rebellious Solas who screws up royally. Or maybe even just the possible gap between him waking up and giving his orb to Corypheus.

Arksssss... Now that I look for it, the owls are really everywhere...
In this PT I just took Caer Bronach in Crestwood.
After I took the keep, suddenly these statues are everywhere. Who in the inquisition puts them there?
Is there a secret agent of Falon'Din infiltrating my organisation? *PARANOIA*

I wanna explore ancient Arlathan as Solas (with those young Solas designs people keep posting in this thread!) and play politics with the other Gods, and watch the fall after he screws everything up!

I hate the character DLCs they've done in the past, but I would pay sooooo much money for this!

Maybe Falon' Din is the Maker ... otherwise not sure why a Chantry organization like the Inquisition would have OWLS , OWLS EVERYWHERE!

Hey remember that time Solas made you fall in love super hard and had the most romantic and meaningful date of all the romance options, then broke up with you with no explanation and left you in the middle of nowhere to walk home by yourself?
Yeah. Me too.
Remember that other time you found out he was an ancient morally ambiguous being and then the story ended and you were like "wat"?
I remember that part too.

In general owls personify wisdom, could be that the inquisition copied it for that reason.

Oh god, I just bought the battlemage mail from the dog vendor in the hissing wastes. Solas needed new armor and it was only 1500 gold. But when I put it on him I noticed that the cloth was this burgundy crushed velvet flower pattern. So that plus the fur makes him look like he's wearing something made out of a couch you'd get at goodwill.
Totally fits, though. Vivienne's going to have to get the fainting couch when I bring him back to skyhold.
Ha, I think I got that in a drop and thought similar thoughts.
Meanwhile I made him a Battlemaster set with silverite with bitching stats, and it looks like something he found in the rag bag of an alienage. Oh Solas.

Just heard some of my favorite banter! I laughed like a silly bird when I heard it just now. Running around with Viv, Solas and Cole (because I love it when Solas and Viv snark at each other) and Cole spouted some of his usual spirit gibberish. It went like this:
Cole: something spirit blah darkness blah FEELS
Viv: You really shouldn't encourage that...thing (referring to Cole and the disgust just drips off the word "thing")
Cole: Solas isn't a thing!
Solas (enthusiastically): Well said!
so great. ugh I love Viv's attitude. When I play as human mage and side with the Templars she will be my bestie forevs.
