Just heard some of my favorite banter!  I laughed like a silly bird when I heard it just now. Running around with Viv, Solas and Cole (because I love it when Solas and Viv snark at each other) and Cole spouted some of his usual spirit gibberish. It went like this:

Cole: something spirit blah darkness blah FEELS

Viv: You really shouldn't encourage that...thing (referring to Cole and the disgust just drips off the word "thing")

Cole: Solas isn't a thing!

Solas (enthusiastically): Well said!

so great. ugh I love Viv's attitude. When I play as human mage and side with the Templars she will be my bestie forevs.

I remember that banter, these type of things makes it hard for me to separate Cole & Solas XD

Any day filled with Solas is a good one. This place is like a good nicotine patch when one can't play. :D

I just can't get good with Blackwall. Especially when he got all self righteous when I used underworld connections to bail him out. I wanted to hop off my throne and whallop his ungrateful arse. Talking about my sullying myself. Bastard should show some gratitude that I valued him. I totally wanted to have a Beauty and the Beast moment where Lavellan shouts "FINE! Then go ahead and DIE!"

Do you think the normal "dragonage" Twitter account would respond to something like that? I'd be willing to send them a tweet... (It would probably be better to send something to a writer, but I hate bothering them with questions. :S And I don't know which one is in charge of "elfy" things now anyway.)

They might. I'd say general dragonage or Patrick since he's Solas's writer. He'll usually direct to the proper person to ask questions if he doesn't know.

During my canon (elfy) playthrough, I was SO amazed at his disgust with me. UH, HELLO... I am giving you a chance to atone you bearded turd!  I am glad he humbles himself by the end of the scene, but damn.  I mean, I suppose it makes sense he'd be angry, since he had finally come to terms with his past, and was willing to pay the price for his actions, so maybe being stolen away in the night by the Inquisition prevented a true reckoning in his mind.

Now I'm playing a very sweet Trevelyan, and she just laid the heavy flirty smackdown on him.  Makes me laugh when he chokes up after you say "There's more of that in my quarters..." or whatever, in Haven. Haha!  He's a boob...

Everyone seems to be up on the Cass/Cole/Dorian party. :P That would be my choice too. Cass and Dorian ended up good friends, and well, Cole. I must have him with me always.

Not sure how they'd react to whatever we'd see or learn, but... hmm. Maybe Varric is a better choice. He's not really trigger-happy like Cassandra... right?

It seems strange it would be a different word based off sex. The elves don't have any other instances of that do they? And the "lin" bit means blood. So it's saying you're of the same blood (so like family/clan). So why would the word for blood change.  Just seems very strange that there's two versions of the word...

It is strange; I'd be 100% okay with them deciding that now they only use "lethallin," but it's been weirdly inconsistent throughout the games. And with the other elf stuff that isn't happening properly due to scripting errors or various other things, it's hard to tell if it was intentional or not. u_u

They might. I'd say genera dragonage or Patrick since he's Solas's writer. He'll usually direct to the proper person to ask questions if he doesn't know.

Hmm. I might try tweeting at him (and the dragonage account) later, then. If/when I work up the nerve to do it. >_> I'm surprised I managed to tweet him about the Well thing, haha. Usually I'm too worried about coming off as obnoxious to directly contact any of the devs...

I swear I read that in some contexts, the "male" version of that word can also be used between those more closely connected, or intimate.  While in the more formal aspect, "lethallin" would be used for a male, and "lethallan" for a female.  Just like how we use terms of identity differently with those we are closely acquainted with.

I continued to be friends with Blackwall afterwards - but he made me really sad, and it's not the same friendship as before. But he also comes off as having creepy feelings towards my Lavellan now. Maybe its because I choose "goodbye" in the dialog and then leave the conversation and run away before he has a chance to finish saying "see you later", so he always ends up saying, "and there she goes."

In my headcannon, ever since Solas left, she's avoiding him because she's afraid he's gonna try and swoop in. Dorian save me!

Blackwall is way too sad a puppy for me... I enjoy the Solas type of melancholy because you can definitely feel like theres still a spark in his eye. Blackwall was fine to have around on blight/warden related missions, but I also tried to not get too personal with him.

Since I kept the Wardens arould after Adamant (Solas never wanted to really explain why not keep them so boohoo to him, Im keeping them to deal with the anciant darkspawn magister) I gave Blackwall to them after releasing him from prison. It seems a fitting purposer and one he does not disagree with.

There's a thread in the Solas Spoilers Group (http://forum.bioware...at-one-spoiler/) about it. I think we wanted to keep it off this thread since it's a future-game spoiler :)  The consensus was that it fit the prevailing opinion of what happened in that scene, and that the Morrigan info is super-interesting.

I've never seen the music video for this song before -- is that Hugh Laurie?! The song brings me back; I think it was popular when I was a kid. This oldie came up on my shuffle today and it reminded me of Solas, but everything does so maybe it doesn't fit too well xD

He may want to grow, but he also likes being able to help people, which is his very nature. Making Cole more human makes it more difficult. He even mentions to Solas later that it's become harder to hear people. This makes it harder for his compassion abilities to hear people and thus would make it harder for him to help. It could very well be that his desire to become more may have been his desire to become more himself. To return to a more natural state. This sort of thing was seen in DAO with the spirit of the forest. Give form is nice, but they do eventually seek the release from it, because it goes against their nature eventually. I can't do that to Cole. I always put him back to spirit, because he seems more at peace with himself and the world. He's not in pain from memories that aren't his own.

Yes, Hugh Laurie is in it, as well as the ever enigmatic john Malkovich. Both of which makes me giggle to no end watching in it.

I made Cole more spirit because I trusted Solas. I was totally with Varric, but I figure Solas knows more on the matter than me. I'm glad I kept him more spirit, he seems happier. Tho I was worried for a bit I would understand him even less than before.

i don't think there is a right or wrong when it comes with cole's personal quest.  he's happy with either outcome.  i'll admit, i do find it difficult to choose.  so far, i've only picked the spirit option for various reasons; his ability to help others actually improves considerably, he fully accepts himself as a spirit....and it pleases solas >.>  i do intend to make him more human in a future playthrough at least once, though.

I made him more human after the break up with Solas because Lavellan was pissed.

I get the whole 'spirit is his true nature, its wrong to force him to change' but I also tend to take in account how he fits in the world. If he wants to stay with the living, I wont always be there to protect him so he needs to adapt a little. I find human-Cole to be an acceptable compromise.

I made him more spirit, because after what Solas said during his personal quest about spirits and their purpose it didn't seem right to force a change on Cole. She certainly isn't the expert on how that works, and after seeing how Wisdom became Pride... yep. Not doing anything that might have made that happen to Compassion.

I seriously considered sending Blackwall to the wardens, but considering what happened with them? Aw hell naw. There's punishment and then there's no effing way.

With Lavellan I made him more Human. I honestly wish I could have left him how he was and still complete the quest but alas.... I tend to agree more with Varric though: Cole made his decision to be more human a long time ago, and to make him a spirit makes him not-Cole. I think he even stops going by his name (though he says you can call him that if you'd like). He starts erasing his memories and it rubs me the wrong way, especially since my Lavellan considers him to be a "friend". My Trevelyan will probably make him more of a spirit because I don't think she's really his friend persay, and she thinks there's a "right" and "wrong" way for spirits to exist.

I also think Solas is lying through his teeth when Cole says "when did you see it before?" and he's like "I didn't say that I had," and let's Cole think that he was mistaken. I believe 100% that Solas has seen a spirit become more human and is just being a fussy McFuss pants

I've done both, and prefer the spirit outcome, but I find the reasoning behind both sides compelling: We can't just change our nature by wishing, but how can we even come to understand what that nature is if we do not try to change and grow?

I don't know. I like both, but I think I prefer the scene between Varric and Cole if you make him more human. Also the scene where you take him out later and get him to laugh.

I think that was the first choice in my play through where my Lavellan went contrary to Solas, and I thought it was interesting to see his reaction. I have to wonder if Solas isn't projecting a little bit in that scene...the way he stares at the Quizzy, when he says "spirits can forgive" and then afterwards when he tells her it's good a part of him still remains spirit, I almost feel like he isn't just talking about Cole.

Hmm. That still wouldn't fit with Inquisition's use of the word, though--Minaeve uses it within seconds of first meeting the Inquisitor, and Solas called my Inquisitor(s) that before going to Skyhold (after the musical number).

My first Inquisitor nudged him towards being more of a spirit, which I was fine with. The conversation about "forgetting" Cole scared me a little (I actually went running to Solas, hoping he'd have something to say about it, haha), but I'm probably going to stick with that choice for any future replays with that Inquisitor. He's happy either way and he can't be bound by anyone, and that's what matters most to me. c:

I honestly love how some of the writing in this game really gets us to think and consider things beyond the actual confines of the quests.
