Same here. I couldn't deal.

I told all my coworkers at work the next day "My fictional elven boyfriend just broke up with me. And I'm heartbroken."  I had to talk to SOMEONE about it. At least, they all enjoyed my re-telling of it (as none of them are gamers).

Really? That's awesome they listened to you...I have my Hubby to share that sad moment with but he'll just laugh about it and tell me to stop playing the game.   :D

EDIT: Or maybe not he is understanding he just knows how I felt when Thane died and I don't think he would like that Bioware has made me upset and sad...again.

Did anyone ever tweet that picture of sad Lavellans to Patrick Weekes? Someone with twitter should really do that... Renmiri1?  :D

Wha? I didn't know about this...I would've shared my Lavellan...actually no cause I just remembered I wasn't that far into the game yet lol derp.

I sold the Pack Master amulet early in my last playthrough but this time I know better.

I might even make up a little headcanon that Solas enchanted it so wolves would stop pitting themselves against the Inquisition.

You don't even need to wear the amulet. I had the friendly wolves following me around just after doing the quest, no amulet equipped.

Unless the amulet works in zones besides Highlands? Not sure about that though.

Hey guys, just caught up but is it too late to talk about Cole?

Whatever, I'm a going to add my two cents...

I chose to make Cole human, though I did not make it lightly.  Seriously I had to take almost a full day to decide and even then I'm not sure if it was right.  But my reasoning was that Cole greatest fear was that he would hurt people again.  Like he did when he first came through the Veil.  Even before the mission he makes you promise that you will kill him if he goes down that road again(and if you don't you get a massive disapproval hit).

So with that in mind, I chose to make him human.  Because then he will retain the lessons he has fought so dearly for.  We are given no assurances that spirit-Cole won't revert back to mercy-killing and misunderstanding situations and pain.  I feel like Cole (as we meet him and before the change) would not want that.

Of course I understand the spirit choice as well and I can't help feeling that is actually the "right" one.  I don't need Cole to be human to relate to him.  I just don't want him to lose himself again and force us to make good on that promise.  Spirits in the living world do not have an excellent track record of staying true to their purpose and Solas is going bamf out and not help him stay pure.

I don't think there's an objectively "right" choice. I do think Cole is less unhappy if he is made a spirit, but then again I think it's a bit odd to ascribe "happiness" to a spirit. A spirit of Compassion doesn't really understand happy or unhappy - it's more "this is right" and "this is wrong". Making him a spirit is putting him into a more pure and uncomplicated form. It's a familiar form to him, and so he finds it easier to do what he loves: help people. But he's also blinded to the nuances of human behavior, and his helping is limited.

If he becomes more human, his life is much more painful. He remembers, and people remember him. He cannot help using the techniques he could use before. But he has a better understanding of people - I think he mentions understanding Cullen better - and though it's more difficult to help, he's able to help in new ways. I think he's better able to understand and confront the big/deep problems because he can actually empathize with people.

TL;DR I think they're roughly equal depending on how you're looking at it.

It's probably going to be a while before we get any DLC..but I hope they at least fix the Solas quest glitches and bugs soon!! I keep hearing that there was supposed to be another quest for him that isn't working.

I think we'll get an announcement about story DLC in late January or early Feb. Hopefully get a new patch (where is my patch for XB1?!) in early January...? That would fit the normal timeline. They do seem to be having a bit more trouble with patches, or maybe it's just the holidays.

I am well past the point of insanity where I am convinced that every snippet of dialogue and codex relates to Fen'harel or the other gods.

I mean not every piece ... but most of them.

There is no plot anymore only Solas!

There is only Solas

So the fear demons in Here Lies the Abyss take on the appearance of whatever the observer is most afraid of. It would be pretty funny if Solas ended up seeing everyone's angry Lavellans instead of spiders.

I made him human this PT. The main reason is to prove Solas wrong when he said "you can't change what you are"....uhm hello *look at the Inquisitor*

I think both Cole and the Inquisitor are special cases that even Solas can not predict what will become of them. If the Inquisitior can after their nature and become "something else" so can Cole. Beside, it will suit my Lavellan's PT if she says she will make the world better when Solas asks her after the Temple of Mythal, she does change his world, right XD

The next scence when I take him go out as human is so emotional  :( I was like "Forget that heartless man, mama can raise you herself" XD

I have some sinful wishing they make Cole LI in the next game....you know....when he's more mature

Happened to me too, but in the Exalted Plains. I think I had the amulet of the packmaster on at the time, but I can't remember.

It was pretty great, though. I had Solas with me, of course. Even got some pictures.

Thedas wolves are HUGE.

EDIT: Just noticed that we have the same party configuration.   Maybe it's the combination of Solas, Cole, and Cass that attracts the wolves.

  they're adorable. Now I want wolf plushies!!!! Bioware Plz!!!

About the Cole thing, I find it hard not to make him spirit-y. I was going to do the human one with my Trevelyan but I couldn't do it. To me, Varric's account of why he came through sounds more like a demon, and I see it as denying his true nature. I also don't like the LIttle Mermaid implication that every spirit just wants to be human. However I recognize intellectually that he's really both and it can legitimately go both ways with a good outcome. I just can't do it, though.

Also about the griffon-halla connection, one more bit... in the Temple of Mythal, at the Mythal codex entry, there's an urn where I looted the Bow of the Griffons as well as an amulet of power for Solas. I feel like this is smacking us on the head.

So I'm at the point in Origins where I have to decide whether or not to kill Flemeth and I'm way more conflicted about it than I've ever been! All I can think is:

  • She already saved my life, is it OK to repay her by killing her because I want Morrigan to be my friend?
  • She is sort of creepy and my Warden doesn't know who/what she is so it seems like she really is an abomination
  • Will I actually be able to kill her or am I going to have to reload a save when I die?

And more importantly:

  • What will Solas think of a Warden that kills his old friend? Even if she's not really dead? Or...wasn't really dead? I want everyone to be friends and go on double (triple?) dates when all this is said and done.

I would keep them if we had a storage chest and on the list of perks I go for expanded inventory is definitely before faster gallop but way behind anything that will give me more stuff.

Plus it seems like Cole is in a lot of physical pain if you choose to make him more human. I tried it and immediately restarted because that kind of physical pain just can't be normal. If it hurts then maybe it isn't meant to be.

I might be the only one who cares, lol. Solas mentions the Herald riding in on a griffon. There's an astrarium in the Emerald Graves that connects halla to griffons-  Equinor. There is also a fresco there that shows a halla with wings, and murals of elves riding halla into battle, though those don't appear to have wings. In the Temple of Mythal, I looted a griffon totem from a Sentinel Shadow, and the aforementioned Bow of the Griffons.

Also, I was always conflicted about killing Flemeth, but my Wardens tended to be Morrigan fangirls/boys. So Flemeth had to go. I don't care what Solas thinks about that. Solas is going to hate your Warden's guts no matter what. He just doesn't like Wardens.

With my later Wardens I either didn't get the grimiore from the Tower or took Flemeth's offer. I grew to really dislike the dancing puppet feeling that quest gave me.

Now we know Morrigan was telling the truth, as much as she knew anyway, but I became really suspicious of her in DAO.

In my mind, once Lavellan reaches her height of her political power, she will have a painting made. Her on her throne sitting. A great black wolf on her right, with her hand gently on it's head.

This is my ridiculous power fantasy.

It'd be cool if griffons were made by Ghilly. They seem like the sort of strange things that would be made by magic. I love how often the theme of "someone said they thought this originally came from the elves and was later appropriated by humans, but that would be PREPOSTEROUS har har har" pops up in the codex in Inquisition too.

Side note: Wish there had been some elf-specific dialogue to replace "noble steed" with "noble halla".

He doesn't hate Blackwall back when he thinks he's still Blackwall -- I think he hates the Wardens as a group but in his own Solasy way pretends that the group isn't made up of individuals (same way he can dislike humans but not Cassandra, or Dalish but not Lavellan). But there are plenty of reasons he wouldn't like my canon Warden anyway (she's human! she's dating/married to an elf! she killed an Old God sort of). Think I'm just going to kill Flemeth, my Warden isn't really one for nuanced approaches - more like stab it until it stops causing problems.
