I wanna say since his early concept art had dreads, that they weren't thinking that far in advance. But who knows?

Hmm, need an option for Lavellan to ask Solas if he thinks that would have been true about the whole possibly Shartan/Andraste side love thing. See if he's seen anything "in the fade". Jeeeeeaaaaaalllllousy if he were Shartan.

I just replied to a comment from you on my youtube channel. Solas fandom is too small!
If Solas turns out to be Shartan I will giggle.
I always thought that Shartan looked like a bald Tamlen, so it was hard to take that spirit in the Gauntlet seriously. ![]()
So I noticed something bringing Solas to the Temple of Mythal as my human.
Elf version - Abelas says "You have the features of those who call themselves Elvhen"
Human version with Solas in your party: "You stumble down the paths at the side of one of our own." (while camera focuses on Solas)
So Abelas definitely seems to recognize Solas, at a minimum, as an ancient elf. It's just delivered in a way that the player wouldn't notice unless they've played both versions. Sneaky Bioware writers...
Seen a discussion about Solas being Shartan on some other forum a while ago... and people seemed to agree that the only things they have in common are the facts they are both elven and bald
But then again, as someone has pointed out, we know too little of the DA universe to be sure either way.
I wonder if the devs laugh looking at all the theories going around...

Probably. Especially that "Sera is Andruil" theory. I think the Solas reveal is causing people to see elven gods behind every door.

They're forgetting the most important thing:
Sera is a lesbian and Andruil is a would be perpetrator of sexual assault on the very male Fen'Harel.
Could ya'll imagine the storm that would cause, though?
Don't know if you guys have posted this but

Well if she's simply "carrying" Andruil like Flemeth is for Mythal, then that wouldn't really matter. But it's a problematic theory for a whole host of other reasons.
Also, since learning that Fen'harel is in fact Solas...I'm not all that wild about that myth anymore. I mean, I'm sure it's been grossly distorted over the years, but the idea of Solas getting tied to a tree and told that he has to serve another elven god in bed for the next year is just...weird. I wonder if it's based on any sort of truth, and if so, what that truth may be.

That's a good point. I think one 'god' in the party is enough, anyways.
I don't know. Felassan is the one that told the story (and he might just be a credible source). I wouldn't be surprised if he told it for shits and giggles or something, though.

God dammit Solas. I now have two simultaneous playthroughs going on. I was making progress with my Cassandra romancer but then Solas has to say words and then, "whoops. Another f!elf run."
I couldn't get through a female playthrough in games before, 'specially as an elf, and now I can't stop making them. Elf nerd problems.
Also, this has probably been posted but just came across it so re-post. Fantastic artwork!

Have them start off as friends. Abelas will have had the company of his fellow Sentinels all these years but none of them will know much about the modern world or modern elves other than stragglers who found the Temple of Mythal or what they have seen in the Fade. He needs someone with experience of the modern world who has a circle of friends who will be willing to accept him for who he is (except Sera of course but then he's all" Elfy up a thousand years ago" and maybe Viv because he is a Somniari, and not leashed by the Chantry)..
Plus with Solas it wasn't really a slow buildup it was like flirt, flirt, Boom! Skyhold- kissy-kissy-kissy -possibly more than kissy Boom!-breakup .. build it as a slow friendship.. that way if you intend to have Solas come back our Quizzy does not have to choose between them.. and our Abelas does not get hurt (given he must be pretty traumatized after essentially waking up to find his entire world gone .. possibly even more so than Solas because at least once Solas woke up he was free to explore how the world had changed and that might be to much for Abelas to handle)

Maybe just an affectionate sibling-like friendship if you can swing it that way? Unless you never plan on Solas and Lavellan reuniting, a love triangle sort of situation might be more complicated than it's worth. It'd also be painful for Abelas to have feelings for someone he can't have after being duty bound for so long. Pain in stories is good sometimes, but when it happens to someone who's chosen name means 'sorrow'...

What if Solas hates the nickname Dread Wolf. What if his "friends"[gods] made it up for him because he looks wolfish? And Mythal is like "i knew you would come, dread wolf"
and he was just like "i'm so sick of that name god just die".
It's like a nickname. Like squirly, or teddy. He never really acts wolfish.

Abelas already is a friend by this point, at least in word if not in deed. That's part of what this next part is dealing with. Lavellan lost her clan, in my fic, and found out as soon as she returned from defeating Corypheus. She blames herself ('cause it's kind of her fault for sending Cullen), she blames Cullen, and, well, everyone's too preoccupied with being victorious to really notice how upset she is. So, six months later, she hears of the Dalish Arlathvhen, tries to go back... it doesn't go so well. She runs into Abelas, who is looking for her, because he assumes she'll be with Solas, and that Solas knows where there are other Elvhen. She and Abelas and Cole are currently all on their way to Wycome, so that she can deal with that whole "my clan is dead and I need to grieve" thing. But there are complications. There's been a murder, she's being pursued by angry Dalish, and after absorbing all of the orb's power, her mark is basically trying to kill her again like it was when she first got it. Abelas was along for the ride because she's familiar, at first, but now he's kind of decided they're friends. Or that they should be.
Meanwhile, Solas is also heading to Wycome because he wants to know if there's something special about Clan Lavellan, and he thinks that knowing will somehow set his mind at ease about hurting the Inquisitor. (Except not really, he knows it won't. He just wants to keep holding on without holding on.)
That would be the most terrible, mundane reason for certain end game events ever.
"What happened to [redacted]?"
"I was sick and tired of all these motherfucking dread wolfs in this motherfucking Fade."
<edit> What the what? How come the filter puts asterisks for other four letter words, but not The F Word, even though it's usually taken more severely than that synonym for poop? </edit>

It might sound silly but my friend and I added a nice post with lots of fun connections in response to the OP in the Sera/Solas similarities thread tonight (my post even has pictures, whee). Remember that Solas being a 'simple' ancient elf used to be a wild theory in this thread, too, and there's no harm in examining things even if they don't turn out
Oh, and I wouldn't call it jealousy, even the people who originally put forth the idea don't want it to be true, they'd rather just have Sera ![]()
From the sound of it the whole deal with the Elven Pantheon wasn't Solas' first attempt to help his people. Maybe he was Shartan?
Other than them both being bald they both... hate slavery, I guess? Solas talks to Iron Bull about the Qun/slavery crushing the extraordinary for the sake of the mediocre and tells Dorian to right wrongs not by apologizing about the Tevinter/elven past, but by freeing the slaves of all races. Maybe this is the third time Fen'harel has attempted to help the elven people: first trying to help the ancient People by sealing away the 'gods,' then leading the elf slaves to freedom in Andraste's rebellion, and now... whatever he's doing
He does have that conversation with the Inquisitor about trying again and again to make a better future, so maybe third time's the charm? He also talks to Sera about about using her organization to remove the nobles and create a new order but she says that lopping off the top just leaves room for more jerks to take power, which is exactly what happened for Fen'harel and Shartan: remove the ancient elf 'gods' and they're replaced by Tevinter slave masters, remove the slave masters and they're replaced by humans putting elves in alienages and treating them like slaves anyway.
Goodness gracious I don't want ^^^this^^^ to be remotely true, please please just let Solas be Solas-- er, well, Fen'harel.

I think it's more the tinfoil hat brigade.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some good speculation, but it just seems wrong to even theorize that Sera is an elven god. She's about the furthest thing from an elven god that we have! She'd be pissed if anyone dared to suggest it to her. ![]()

Ah crap, you're right. Perhaps they were lovers, then? Is it weird that the thought makes me kinda jealous? This reminds me of when I thought Solas was Tyrdda Bright-Axe's "Leaf-eared Lover", and I was glaring at the poor guy all the way through the Hinterlands.
I mean, of course Solas has had other loves and other relationships before. I just don't really want to know about it.
