I think the reason the DLC for DA2 got cancelled is because so many people were bitching about how bad the game was.  I personally loved the game..but whatever..people will always ****** about something.

So, for example. We could have a DLC where we are attempting to stop [or help] Solas release the elven gods or some other sort of calamity. This calamity sets up the elven story line for the next game.

See, I think this will happen in the next game, only with another PC. And I'm sure it's "stop", not help. I got the vibe that whatever's Solas planning on doing, it won't be good for the world, at all. I mean, those gods warred with each other constantly and enslaved an entire nation. Those are not good people. Tevinter Imperium is probably cuddly kittens compared to them. And simply the act of releasing them may cause devastating consequences.

Not to mention, Solas' character arc just feels so much more interesting and deliciously angsty if he's going to do something really bad (at least from our point of view).

The trouble with putting that all on a new PC, however, is that they need to set up who/what Solas is and rebuild a relationship with them. Its much easier to handle Solas's action in DLC, and then have the consequences go forth to another player character.

Seeing more people step out of the shadows in this thread, it occurs to me I never actually thanked you all for pulling me out of lurker status myself. Until I posted here I thought my time at BSN would be very brief. So many of the threads out there feel like troll bait, or desolve into arguments and hateful garbage. Not to mention, I felt lost and alone with my sudden but inevitable addiction to Solas.

But then I found this thread. And...

grumpy-cat-smiles.gif

I've found my home here. I barely venture out into the other threads now.

Sorry for interrupting the conversation for sappy sentiment. I just wanted to let ya'll know.
I also wanted an excuse to use that gif.

...and the whole world changed didn't it? Sorrynotsorry.

For this whole Andraste thing, I believe in an theory presented here that she was the vessel of Dumat. Some facts that back this up is the fact she was born the same year the first blight was ended, the armor of the warden hero that slew Dumat is found in Ferelden, but Dumat was slain near Tevinter, and Kieran was shown to behave in an similar fashion to Andraste, with dreams and whispers in her head. Besides, how would Morrigan and Flemeth be so certain that the ritual would work unless it had been done at least once before? That also would mean Mythal was involved in the events of Andraste life, even if indirectly.

Wasn't there an interview where they stated they wouldn't be doing something like Awakening again? Like it wasn't worth the effort? (I could be wrong)

Neither mage nor rogue had any problem getting Solas to approve her. Though I do main a mage in their relationship, but mostly so they can be fade nerds together. Though my rogue was great because if someone so much as dared to go for her boo, she was on him like a fat kid on cake. No one hit Solas. Ever. Dare to walk in his direction and she'd be bathing in their bloooood.

Yes.  They said the expansion packs of that size are too expensive and too time consuming and don't end up paying off - i assume in terms of sales.  I am deeply skeptical they will be carrying over the Inky into a 4th DA game since that's not how the series have been set up.  I have a feeling these stories may wrap up in the DLCs and story content - which they confirmed they plan on doing and all of it takes place post epilogue.  So in DA4 the new protag. would just be dealing with the consequences of Solas' actions or inactions.

Ohhhh, now I have the Crestwood wolfs to :)

They are so nice and beautiful, even with green glowy eyes.

My Lavellan is squealing and wants to keep them. But Viv and Cas are all "Whaaaa Wolfs!"

Silly people, don't they know that wolfs are friends?

So I punched in my "Throw away Hawke" world state, guess that means I get to make a new Lavellan, right? :D

Do you actually need an excuse?  I finished my first Lavellan and rolled the same character again because I enjoyed playing her so much.

XD

My Lavellan is a KE, everytime someone hits Solas she Fade Steps to him and destroys the assaulter.

Even after Solas dumped her :<

Even if Solas is trying to free the old gods, I see it ending more in a way that Anders' story ended. Hawke *still* got the option to go with him despite him blowing up the chantry. Anders' intentions were good, but the actions he took to achieve his goal were not. He was willing to sacrifice a lot for the end result. But Hawke got the chance to stand by his decisions.

There's really no way to know for sure either way, we've been speculating Solas' motivations all along, but for all we know he could be trying to *stop* the elven gods from getting free. Solas and Mythals goals are so ambiguous, Bioware is throwing us off with clues that lead to both good and bad intentions for both of them and it's almost impossible to judge their future actions.

If it is true that Solas is trying to free the old gods, he is most likely doing it for a reason that goes beyond just being evil. It's pretty obvious that he is a decent guy who actually approves of you helping the helpless.

Hey guys,

Does anyone have footage of if morrigan drank from the well of sorrows and she summons flemeth? This is a version with no old god soul in play. I have a thing.

Edit: I mean footage I have permission to use from the uploader.

Here's the interview and quote about expansions; it's from Semptember 2014:

'Of course, I had to bring up DLC at some point. People are rightfully wary of EA's influence, and Darrah noted that they are going to mostly going to listen to fan demand to shape post-game support. Although he wasn't able to confirm anything, DLC will likely be comprised of sandboxes -- large new areas that players can wander around and complete a main quest in, but also find sidequests for. There isn't going to be another expansion like Awakening though, sadly. Darrah said that it was "far too much work, and very expensive, as everything has to interact with the original game."'

I'm fine with this. Listen to me Bioware: ALL I NEED IS FIVE MINUTES. FIIIIVE MINUTES.  Two minutes of Solas explaining to the Inquisitor WTF he was doing and three minutes of snogging. You give me this AND I WILL GIVE YOU ALL MY MONEY.

Make one of those three snogging minutes an optional bow chicka wow wow scene and I'm good.

Sounds about right! So, definitely making good use of that 'galaxy map' like system.

Awakening was pretty much an entire game unto itself. Unfortunately I remember at the time there being a lot of controversy over it, both due to its launch price and the numerous bugs that were there. It was a game with new party members and tons of quests. I think its pretty reasonable that they avoid doing anything like that again.

The only thing I'm looking for in a future dlc is more story, we don't need a dlc where we get another area the size of the hinterlands. I don't want to explore every nook and cranny anymore, I don't want to find every point of interest, it was fun for a while, but it gets tiring. I want to learn more about the world, its story, and that of its characters as they are now. The game feels too big for it's own good to me. I'm having trouble playing through it multiple times because of the area sizes. Even though I'm usually very happy if a game isn't too linear and they give you a little freedom, I feel like Inquisition would've benefited a great deal from being a more compact experience. Dlc would be a perfect opportunity to get more balance between exploration and story I think, but I'm worried if they're not taking this whole sandbox thing a bit too far. I'm still optimistic though, we've had story dlc's in the past so we can get one now too, especially when there's still so much left unexplained.

Hopefully if its a sandbox it will be more like Crestwood and less like the Hissing Wastes (or w/e the big empty venatori desert is named).

Also, Im curious as to when in the game it would connect with the storyline... before the breakup? after but before Cory? Post epilogue? That would affect the chances of getting some sotry development for you know who...

My guess is that the majority of DLCs will take place in an ambiguous time period that could be before or after the end of the game. Like Mass Effect 2. Its possible some dialogue might change if you had completed the game or if you haven't.

Then one or two final DLCs that set up the next game, taking place after the end of the game in the sense that it would reference it directly.

Oh, of course he has a reason. I never meant he was evil. He's "the ends justify the means" kind of guy, a well-intentioned extremist (and I definitely do see the parallels to Anders). But I'm wary of both his ends and his means. I very much doubt they are going to align with the good of Thedas and its current inhabitants. I don't mind, I like the moral ambiguity and complexity, god knows, there wasn't enough of them in DAI compared to the previous games.

I get you, I really do. There is definitely lots of narrative place for a real ending in DAI - not just with Solas, I'm really pissed off that the story of the Skyhold has never really been told, I was expecting a big revelation or a showdown or at least something. But I'm just skeptical that Bioware would finish such a big plot as the elven gods in a DLC.

Ugh, I hate DLC that takes place before the finale... It's just... What's the point? I already know how it ends.  :(

They can't make anything that happens affect the main game, or the ending, because that's not fair to people who have their first "canon" playthough. No massive plot twists, as the main game can't change.

And to your question, Solas is supposed to comment on any mage specialization you take but I've never had him do so in game.

Gahhh I just checked and found why. Looks after his personal quest/second kiss this option disappeared (bug or deliberate dialogue choice?). I loaded save before All New, Faded For Her, when I had ingredients for necromancer specialization, became necromancer and he commented on it. The same after his personal quest... nada <_< Just "Vhenan." (Not that I mind, but... )

So if anyone wants Solas to comment on her mage specialization, do it before his quest.
