And I am so thankful to be around friends in this thread.  My sexuality has been (male) elf since 1976, and I have just now, at this very moment, owned it.

 

EDIT:  Oh, oh!  Here's an idea for an elf-friend-thing!  What about Cillian?  He shows up in Skyhold.  I'd advise playing him a bit in multiplayer to get a good idea of his personality, though, or just having him in your group.  He's a sweetheart who loves ham and once had a garden where he grew a lot of cabbages.

I´m sort of surprised that I actually like Cullen, I was one of the ones who preferred Zevran over Alistair and Fenris over Anders because you know, elves Still,Solas is probabaly my favorite dragon age romance (unless they pull a Jacob) and Cullen is on second place I guess

Alistair was at least funny and had interesting relationships with other characters, particularly Morrigan. Cullen is just... there. I think I've even forgotten to finish his quest about Samson on my first playthrough (2nd playthrough I had Calpernia and it was way more interesting, plus had more info about Coryfish).

Yep, but they both are basically designated nice guys... Just not my type of character, I guess)

As for Sera... doesn't she force you to denounce your Dalish heritage or something if you romance her as a Dalish? My character would never do that... so no Sera for me. Besides, my Lav is way too serious for her XD

Yeah, she also mocks for for having your vallaslin removed and basically constantly berates you for being Dalish. Even if you're friends with her.That was a deal breaker for me. The character could have worked fine if she had at least some character development, but nope.

 

Also, she's written by the same guy who wrote Carver in DA2 (my least favorite companion). I guess I just don't like his writing style, at all.

No...I know Sera has a lot of faults but that isn't what she does. I'm not defending what she actually does which is mock the Dalish for wearing tattoos without knowing they're slave markings (not the fault of the Dalish, Sera), but she is actually praising the Dalish Inquisitor for removing their vallaslin now that they know better.

Ah, well I'm only halfway through TME myself, but that explains it. Orlesians think the only reason their prophetess would ally with an elf is that she was banging him.

 

I agree that it's just more Orlesian bullshit.  Solas isn't into humans, remember?  And there's no way Andraste was an elf.

I was thinking about Eddie Redmayne or however you spell it today. I think he has the most interesting face. I love how the sexiest men recently seem to be sexy in an uncharacteristic way, like Benedict Cumberbatch.

I think a shaved Christian Bale would be an amazing choice from Solas if he was ever played in a movie. Strong facial features with great acting.

I never understood the appeal of Cullen either... in the first game he wanted to murder my mage and everyone she ever knew.   real romantic

I like Cullen in his NPC role. His war table notes are funny. A bit of Fereldan common sense in Orlais. But, I somehow can't do his romance, either. Part of it is that I find Travelyan boring, and Lavellan can only romance Solas. Looking back at some DA2 stuff, his attitudes towards mages do still creep me out. He at least seems to have grown as a character which is good.
 
I did have Alistair x elf mage as my canon Origins game. Fiona and Maric echoes. My Orlesian Dalish in Awakening I always imagined with Nathaniel. But that's one reason I'm tired of the shems, lol. The elfiness of Solas' romance is awesome.

Yeah, I remembered that part after someone mentioned it was Gaspard's bit of theater. It was a set-up to mock Celene and Briala, nothing to it.

For this whole Andraste thing, I believe in an theory presented here that she was the vessel of Dumat. Some facts that back this up is the fact she was born the same year the first blight was ended, the armor of the warden hero that slew Dumat is found in Ferelden, but Dumat was slain near Tevinter, and Kieran was shown to behave in an similar fashion to Andraste, with dreams and whispers in her head. Besides, how would Morrigan and Flemeth be so certain that the ritual would work unless it had been done at least once before? That also would mean Mythal was involved in the events of Andraste life, even if indirectly.

Cullen did change a lot since DA2. To me he feels like a very 'achieved' character by the end of DAI. I can see him finding a nice little wife if he doesnt hook up with the Inquisitor. It doesnt have to be Quizzy. And I mean that in a good way. I enjoyed playing his romance and Im sure Quizzy and him went to Happyland after the game and started a family. It doesnt really need a follow up.

 

Whats special about Solas is that it could only be Lavellan (I feel the same for Zev and Garrus, might be why I always prefer those type of romances). Theres also so much potential to work with. Its keeping me interested.

Solas only has one or two lines referring to you specifically as a mage. I do not think it ultimately matters. It does not change his favor with you.

I really wish I had a way to record these scenes for you, because I discovered something that'd make the Well voices even easier to hear - if you mute music in-game, it mutes the music in the cutscenes as well.

 

I discovered this because I was traversing the Hinterlands for the billionth time and wanted to listen to my own music, so I muted the in-game music. I forgot to turn the music back up when I continued with the main story quests, and let me tell you... the cutscene where the Inquisitor is leading the Inquisition to Skyhold is very awkward without any music to fill the silence. lol

 

If someone could find and extract the sounds themselves, that'd actually be best. There wouldn't be any interference from music or other SFX at all in that case.

You get mage specific dialogue but thats not specifically romance related.

 

Also, Solas will flirt a little differently when he talks about your qualities, based on your class.

I liked Cullen as well this go around. He's got some seriously good eyebrow game and that smirk...hunk.  It's just a really adorable romance and sort of a nice pallette cleanser after Solas dumps your ass.  After all he's been through, he needed a happy ending.  Somewhat related: If you break up with him before you do the do and just tell him you want to be friends, that look he gives you...I never felt so bad.
