Except that Flemeth is pretty direct about her betrayal story. It's also a pretty well known legend to people who live in Ferelden, or study its history. And...she's not Andraste. She didn't acquire Mythal's wisp that long ago.

I don't want history to repeat itself. No Andraste as Solas's lover please. I hate hate hate the idea of playing a romance where the character will just be a reflection of a past lover.

 

This. The main problem I have with Solas as Maker, is it changes the feel of the romance for me. It's less special, and makes it just seem like he has a weird thing for mortals. (I'm fine with other lovers, just the whole falling in love with a mortal feels too similar).

 

Also, just because the writers have said they won't confirm who the Maker is, doesn't mean THEY don't know who/what he is. 

 

If Solas/Maker ARE the same, I don't think Solas actual made the world or anything. I think it would be the humans seeing something Fen'Harel did, and making up their own religion based off it because they didn't believe the elvhen ones existed.

 

If they are the same I kind of hope that the entire Andraste-being-wife-of-the-Maker is a bad interpretation by humans, because yes, if Solas fell in love with Andraste it'll feel a lot less special. Then you'll just have to ask yourself if he compares her to Andraste and ugh, no, stop this horrible thought train.

I don't think Solas is the Maker, though I do think there could be shades of Andraste x the Maker in Solavellan's story. A god and his lover who lead a rebellion against tyranny, that sort of thing. I see the myths as reflections of real events but their power isn't in whether they're real or not. Solas even says that in the temple, to not confuse history with legend. The power in the myths is that they inspire belief and action. That's how he can appreciate Cassandra's faith and he doesn't seek to convert her to something, or vice versa.

The real question is, what would my Dalish girl have done if she kept her vallaslin and found out one day she was bound to the will of Sandal.   Actually, I think that might be okay. ENCHANTMENT

 

Oh, and Solas does say something that leads me to believe he was betrayed by a lover. Can't remember exactly where the line is.

There may certainly be a connection between the old gods and the elven gods. That has nothing to do with Andraste.

 

As far as elves being wrong about their god- remember, elves don't actually think their gods created the world. They technically aren't wrong about their beliefs. They're just wrong about the fact that their gods were wholly benevolent.

Just for you Shari'El. Here's a picture of Solas looking quite a bit less severe during the motivational singing. *edit* Am I the only one who gives Solas Tyrdda's Axestaff before this scene just so it isn't weird that he suddenly has a different staff than the actual one he has equipped?

Mythal and Solas were both gods, and are currently free. So that makes 7 elvehn gods which is the same as the 7 dragon gods.

 

Flemeth/Mythal could turn into a dragon. It can be assumed that maybe the other gods could as well. Which would make them dragon gods.

 

 

DA:I is not the first time Solas woke up. He hates slavery and always wants to help the people. The elves and humans were both slaves in the tevinter empire at that time.

 

The maker came to Andraste in her DREAMS every night. His relm is dreams. He heard her songs of sorrow and came to her to help. He fell in love with her.

 

Does that seem a bit familiar? Falling in love with a religious icon while also trying to fix the world?

 

It was rumored that Shartan, the leader of the elvehn rebellion, was Andraste’s lover. Shartan could very well be Solas, as possibly hinted in this painting.

Flemeth was betrayed long ago. Could the betrayal be andraste’s betrayal? She was betrayed by a man she loved. Then, Mythal came to her after she was burned at the stake.

 

After Solas saw Andraste betrayed, he left to slumber again. And mythal lived on through andraste and then through her daughters.

whatever it is, im pretty sure it'll be very heavily tied in with elves, bc elves were the first in thedas, right? i wonder how far the devs planned, and how far they're planning on stringing us along before telling us wtf is going on - if they ever do.

Maybe when Fen'harel locked away the Creators, Forgotten Ones, Old Gods and stuff people mistook it for the work of the Maker... I REALLY do not want him to be the Maker or Shartan in love with Andraste, the whole you will always be second-best thing BUGS me.

No thank you. Solas isn't into humans. Nope, not buying it. It is way too loaded and would completely ruin the Solas romance for me.

I just don't see it, personally. For one, Solas had no idea Mythal had survived. So he couldn't have been working with her as Andraste, unless it was the biggest of all coincidences that she later came into possession of Mythal's spark. 

 

Solas is not the only entity capable of communicating via dreams. Nor is Flemeth/Mythal the only two women who have ever been betrayed.

I don't think he loved Mythal and Andraste romantically. Mythal was his best friend. And Andraste he looked after since she was a little girl.

While race gating was a technical/story reason for DAI, I don't think it's unreasonable that Solas just isn't attracted to humans. While he's pretty open minded and totally willing to be friendly...humans are probably too fleeting for him in and of themselves. I don't think he considers their culture, attitude, etc. to be as...developed as ancient elves. Probably part of the reason he suggests "something human and fleeting" as a gift for Sera if you are romancing her.

as much as i love repeated cycles in history im not too keen on the idea of "i loved this girl first but i love you now" like in thane's romance (holy SHET i couldn't romance him bc i was constantly worried that as soon as he met his wife in the afterlife again he'd just ditch shepper ;A; )

 

maybe if solas is somehow involved in history from frick-knows-when it's just a misinterpretation that he fell in love with anyone at all. if lavellan isnt first girl in his heart she's gonna be PISSED.

 

(also, on that note, do you think solas would kill lavellan if he thought it'd help the People? IM SORRY for asking so many questions i just love discussing the eggman B^))

Love this entire scene and the way he looks at her here.   It's not even part of the romance, and I'm not even certain what he's thinking, but it's probably my favourite scene in the game!

I guess I don't really get jealous of ex girlfriends. He's been alive for thousands of years, I don't lay claim to him for all eternity. That would be possessive and disrespectful to him as a person. 

It's not having past lovers that's the problem. It's the fact that in many stories where past exes are prominent people comparisons happen. While this trope hasn't happened much in DA it has happened often enough in past games to make me wary when important past lovers are brought up. It also usually happens to females players, so...I'm just tired of seeing it.

I don't like the idea that Solas was Shartan and/or Flemeth was possibly Andraste because that just makes one person waaaaay too important to the story. 

 

It's a fun reveal that Solas is Fen'Heral and Flemeth is Mythal. Starting to make all the most important people in history them is just ridiculous. 

 

Not gonna but it past Bioware, but I hope its not the case.
